    • Nice! Haven't heard of BCF but found one in Belrose which is sort of close and that second link for !64.95 is a pretty good deal.
Might get that if I can't find any cheaper.

  • If you have time, these type of stoves are available on ebay/aliexpress for under $20 (even under $10).
If you aren't going in freezing temps, consider getting the adaptor to use the hairspray size butane canisters for much cheaper fuel:

And if you are car-camping, or at least not hiking much, consider the cheap and cheerful butane canister stoves sold at Kmart or Coles. They are much better to cook on if their bulk isn't an issue.

  • Try your local Kathmandu. I purchase one for $40 (or was it $50 discounted). without canister though. It is a titanium one. but it does not have spark ignition. I bring a separate light
it is similar to this (without ignition)

this is the one I have (kathmandu version)
    via ebay $55

    • Yeah they were out of it when I went into the city. It's a bit different to the ones my brother and I used before. Just worried about leakages since I heard a couple of bad stories.

Cheaper than %97.49???? Bunnings, Big W, K Mart etc…. are around $20 for the same type of thing.
You COULDN'T have looked too hard - maybe you want the attention. I'm just saddened that so many anxious-to-help ozbargain people are putting their valuable time into your cynical request when they could be attending more genuine people who have tried to help themselves first before posting a question.

    • To be frank I went around the town hall where all the brick and mortor stores (that strip with all the ski/camping gear) and they were either out of stock or had a different one to the one I was looking for.

Their were a a lot online but I need one urgently as my old one some how has a leak so i was only looking at online shops with physical store fronts.

And bunnings, kmart, big w and kathmandu (just had refills no adapter) only had the cylinder ones with the 'portable' square burners not like the one I posted up in the link and is definitely NOT portable when your hiking with a pack and don't want it to eat up space.

I'll remember to leave my life story next time cheers.
And who pissed you off? atleast I contribute when I can with bargains, you on the other hand 0 posts and 1 comment go lurk away and come back when you have something nice/positive/constructive to say.

      • I'd say at a guess while he was picking on you he was leaving some other poor soul alone.

How about something like this? While it doesn't use the squat bottles such as the one you've linked to, the regular butane cans are considerably cheaper

        • Those are pretty damn cheap, I ordered one just in case so I can use it as a back up. ALready bought the one at BCF for my trip last week.

I was talking to the guy there and he recommended buying this other kind I got to look it up when I get back to my PC, but the jest of it was it uses LPG and lasts much longer and burns cleaner but costs like 200 plus but long term wise it pays it self. But these butane ones are pretty damn cheap as well rather than the propane.

        • Be aware the butane is not suitable in cold temps (although you should be right in QLD). It liquifies at about 0degrees.
As for butane vs propane, the guys in the shop were ignorant or had been misinformed. Propane delivers about 25% more energy per volume, but I can't think of any situation where it would ever pay for itself, even over decades (well, perhaps if you were transporting it to space the difference in weight would pay for it in saved launch costs!)
