Shame they don't seem to have the Oppo Find N3 anymore

    • Apparently Oppo Australia distributor can't get stock anymore. It's also out of stock on the Oppo AU online store.

      • The N3 and the Oneplus Fold have been getting amazing reviews. Shame they're so difficult to get locally.

  • +4

I really don't see how this is a good deal.

    • +6

It usually gets better as we go into June.

    • +3

      Yeah it's basically $48 - $53/m. Not great.

  • hows this a deal?

    • You get a gift card for signing up to a BYO SIM plan but for 24 months?
Not sure how you don’t see that as a deal.

Go Telstra direct and pay $72 for 180GB or $95 for 300GB or take this deal to pay $65 for 150GB or $99 for 300GB but also get the bonus gift card.

For the 300GB plan you pay $96 extra to stay with them for 24 months but get an $1100 gift card as a reward…

      • +1

problem is most of the stuff JB prices are more expensive than a good ebay / ebay plus deal

so you are force to spend more to just use the gift card

        • +2

Are you sure you should be on this web site? Price match!!

    • +5

Because you claim $99 per month from your employer, or as tax expense, and neglect to inform anyone of the gift card. Classic double dip.

  • +2

You can subscribe and cancel on the same day, you get $1100 gift card and need to pay back only $800+$99 for first month’s bill.
    $200 instant profit

    • That’s what the shop guy told me but I don’t trust them

    • -4

I know you joke but you’d also be liable for the $99 each 24 months, so $2376

      • So you cancel the plan resulting in a cancellation fee of ~$899 PLUS $2376? Whats the point of cancelling?

        • If you have Telstra account you don’t need to pay the $99 fee. You only need to pay the $799.95 fee early termination fee

        • Where are you getting $2376 from? This is not a contract it’s upfront.

    • But is hitting your credit score worth the $200? Won't you rather get a credit card for 3 months ths and churn more cashback and then close it.

Also considering it's very easy to get JB cards at 5% - 10% via TCN, so the real value of a $1100 GC is really only $990.

There was no credit check for me. You go to the store, give them your ID, and pay for the first month's fee, and you're done in 5 mins.

        • When was this?

          • @abs898: October last year, I got the $1400 gift card offer.

            • @anamul: I am actually surprised there was no check, I for a month-to-month from Vodafone and it showed up on my report.

              • @abs898: Yeah I had a credit check when I joined Circle's plan. I just double-checked my credit checks from Sep'23 to Jan'24, no credit checks from Tesltra/JB.

              • +1

@abs898: Could you tell me how to check/get that report?
                Thanks

        • This prompted me to have a look at mine and sure enough, no change in my score. I don’t understand why asked me questions about my income. Maybe because I signed up as a business customer.

    • Correct. You don’t pay back the bonus, only the core value. I know because I did exactly that.

    • Basically buying a jbhifi giftcard at a 20% discount?

      • +3

I got in when they had the $1400 gift card offer.

        • When was that ?

        • Easiest $600 you could’ve made. Still annoyed I missed this.

  • Was $600 last week. $69 for 24mo.
I was greedy and didn’t bite hoping for more but it got worse.

Probably EOFY maybe will be $600 again. Here’s hoping

    • It was definitely $800 for the $99 plan. You may be right for the $69 plan as I was only looking at the bigger one.

    • +2

      Was $700 4 weeks. $69 for 24mo.

      • Damn
        Missed out
Will keep a closer eye on it then. Optus is killing me despite being half price.

  • How long is the gift card valid for?

  • +3

$48 a month for the $69 plan (after deducting the gift card), and $53 per month for the $99 plan. MVNOs are way cheaper.

    Where is the bargain?

  • +1

    Isn’t the new benchmark as:
$700/ $1200 JB Gift Card on JB Hi-Fi Mobile $69/ $99 Per Month 24-Month Plan

    • +2

For the $69 plan with a $700 gift card it works out to be $40 a month which isn’t bad for Telstra. Also $49 a month for the $99 plan.

Pretty much close to Optus and competitors so in that scenario you’d be able to say it’s a deal (if you need Telstra coverage).

  • +3

Don't get Telstra points on the new JB plans either.

24 month plans, no Telstra points, JB plans have lost a bit of appeal for me.

  • It’a $600/$1000 for ABN holders so nothing amazing.

    • Is this via the commercial website?

      • In store.

  • -1

Is the consensus that this is not a good deal? I'm currently with More because I'm being a sweet deal with CommBank but they are proper shit.
How is a relatively cheap phone plan with a gift card to buy a new phone not a deal?

    • Only get it if you actually need something from JB. Otherwise, you’re far better off with Boost or Amaysim.
No one needs uncapped 5g speed on their phone.

      • Yeah, I was thinking of getting a new phone this year and have preferred the outright option over contracts for a while so this might help

    • whats the shit experience you are having with More ?

im looking at moving to them cos of there discount

      • Im also on more for reference im on their NBN HFC 1gbps similar commbank deal and couldn't be happier. Mobile plans might be a different story

      • Their whole operation just feels unfinished. When I signed up there was no way to view your data usage, there was no real portal and customer service was horrible. It took me 2 weeks and multiple calls between Telstra and More to get my number ported over and no one took ownership.

Since then it's just crappy. The services work, but just not well. And then they started upping their prices, but not offering basic services that other carriers do like a portal

  • Is JB genuinely a full Telstra service?

Currently Woollies mobile which is "Telstra" without the coverage or data speeds

    • Yes.

      • Hmm would you mind explaining this ?I am with Woolies but I thought I am getting Telstra mvno coverage.

        • +1

Woolies is a watered down MVNO meaning the speed and coverage is inferior. JB use the full Telstra network as if you were with Telstra directly. Boost has the same coverage but the speed is capped. It’s confusing and needs more clarity for consumers.

  • Yes it is. I am on a JB Hifi plan and around parts of the Perth CBD get a "5G+" (or something like that connection) where downloads are close to 1Gbps. Also, coverage has been fine down in country WA too (seemed the same as what people on Telstra proper who were with me got)

  • +3

    Heads up.

The same $69 plan, goodguys is offering $600 GC: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/mobile-and-broadband-plans

  • But have been known to cancel the gift cards of u cancel the contract so use the gift cards asap

  • Anyone who recently signed up been able to use Telstra one number with Apple Watch? JB can’t seem to figure out if it still works with their new system. Thanks.

  • Can you port back in from Superloop?
I was a telstra cust until recently

  • 300 Gig a month on a mobile phone ??

What the hell would someone be using that on ?? Surprised that your mobile isn't warn out after 6mths.

But honestly - these amounts of data usage are massive for what type of usage ?
