Ah yes, if only formulation was that simple, in fact why don't you take your own advice and make your own skincare brand if it was that simple? You would be rich in no time and could stop browsing ozbargain and giving horrible opinions

Because selling skincare has nothing to do with science (solved long ago) and everything to do with vanity and exploiting insecurity.
If you don't want bargains like $6 2% alycilic acid, go elsewhere. Plenty of people are happy to fleece you.

you must be a formulation chemist by the sound of it

          Ah yes, solved by magic

@jaygee: Nobody wants to hear they are being scammed, but when you see the old lady buying $5000 of Apple gift cards, you have to try.

Good price if only I didn't have 3 years worth from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/824587

    • 1 bottle lasts a whole year?

      • If you use once or twice a week, yes. Which works for me. Some people use it daily though.

  • What’s the best affordable firming serum?

    • +1

Generic 0.025% tretinoin from an online pharmacy or similar. Should run you less than $10-$15 for a tube that lasts 3-4 months.
(Most "firming serums" will either contain a lower strength of tretinoin, or otherwise ingredients which probably don't do much in the long term).

There's also 20% storewide discount with this code: PC20OFF at Paula's Choice. Don't think it can be used on top of this deal though.

If eating it is a carcinogen, what's the effect of putting it on your skin?

  • Easily my favourite chemical exfoliant. Personally I don't think many people should be using this twice a day as the bottle suggests (and if you have a compromised skin barrier that's going to make your skin very angry, very quickly). But great product.

    • I think you need to repair the skin barrier first.

Make sure you put toner on before trying this.

      • +1

Why would you use a toner first?

  • If you are using this be sure to use alot of moisturizer and exfoliating scrub to remove the dead skin this makes it flakey.

    • +3

Yes to lots of moisturiser. But I would strongly recommend against using an exfoliating scrub in conjunction with a chemical (BHA/AHA) exfoliant like this product — that's a recipe for irritation and even more flaking!
