I have the UGREEN one. It's unstable on 4k 60Hz.

    • +2

Yep, same. Had to return it as it was causing constant flickering. Avoid if you want this for 4K60.

      • +1

        Had this problem too

    • Yeah I considered it too, ended up getting two UGREEN 1x USB C to 1x HDMI cable. MacBook has three USB C/Thunderbolt ports so why not. I'll buy a dock to free up the ports again when I win the lottery. Also use my old Apple USB C to HDMI and USB 3 A adapter, works great. The extra USB A port is handy when all the other ports are taken up.

paid $12.89 for this in November 2021 according to Amazon. I've had a combination of gaming laptop, Xbox Series X and PS5 attached to this using a 4k monitor and never had an issue has worked flawslessly. I'd recommend using with HDM 2.1 cables, as someone has mentioned below.

      • I bought mine the same time and have had no issues but I do wish that it was a little bit larger and had the three HDMI ports out the back instead of one at the front.

        • Yeah agreed, would be better if all the ports were at the back. Somebody posted down below a HDMI 2.1 switcher that has all the ports at the back that looks good. The only issue I have with the Ugreen switcher (which might be a feature for some people) is that if I have my Laptop and PS5 plugged in and the Switch is turned onto the PS5… if I turn off the ps5 and come back later, the switch has defaulted back to the laptop.

          • @Sidog: Yes, I already have the Avidgram as well (it's located downstairs and the UGreen is upstairs).

    • Yeah, mine also seems to develop a lot of noise when running 1080/60hz over a 10m cable. I gave up on it and just started switching the cable manually.

    • Isnt it 4K combined res? I used mine with two 1920x1080s and its rock solid.

  • If you want it hidden away I've got a similar version with a switchbot bot attached for easy pressing. Although this one's top doesn't look flat so YMMV.

Shame there is not 4x2 switch 2.1 for an affordable price.

highly reccomend this one. using it to run a xbox to my oled 77 and sim rig. upgraded the cables and havent had one issue yet also running 120fps.

    • Looks good, cheers!

    • damn that one looks pretty good, I have the Ugreen one as I only have a 60hz 4k monitor but this would be great if i ever upgrade to a monitor with HDMI 2.1

    • I have this one as well as the UGreen (one upstairs and one downstairs). Both work flawlessly for me.

  • Can you use this to have 2 screens? Or is it just for spliting?

    • “…HDMI Splitter Mode allows you to connect one HDMI source to two displays (Only 1 of the 2 displays works at a time).”
You can use this to connect a device to two screens, but it only outputs to one screen at a time. Can’t think of many use cases where this would be beneficial.
It looks like its primary use is just as a switch (two devices to one screen; use button to choose which input is displayed).

      • I'm guessing the primary use for the opposite direction would be switching from monitor to a projector, or something like that.

      • It sounds perfect to me. I have two monitors , a 42” C2 (tv) and a 32” real monitor. So I can easily switch it to the smaller monitor if I just need to do some basic stuff (not playing a pc game, eg)

        • Would you be better off without a switch though? Just a splitter and turn off the screen you don't want - either in windows or with the actual button

  • Does this also split ARC?

    • +1

Typically these devices do NOT support ARC. I've been after one that supports ARC, so I can split between soundbar (sonos beam) and home theatre, both connected via ARC. None of them works.

Initially couldn't get 4k60 to run on this.

I was running only normal hdmi 2.0 cables capable of 4k60 (which should work). Had to upgrade to high quality hdmi 2.1 cables capable of 4k120, for it to run stable at 4k60.

    YMMV.

  • +1

I got disappointing result when I try to get CEC, sound bar and TV all working with any hdmi switch to multiple sources.

  • Anyone spots some half meter long hdmi cables?

    • Yep, I ordered this exact same switch the other week and bought two of theseto go with it.

  • I got one of these, I didn't like it because it always switched to the wrong input display (when using it in switcher mode). I'd turn on my Switch (on line 2) and it would switch to 1, I'd turn on my PS5 (on line 1) and it'd switch to 2. There was no rhyme or reason to it, it just never switched to the right source, even if I only had 1 device plugged in it would always switch itself to the wrong source.

I don't even think it's supposed to switch automatically - but it did >:(

  • 5 months ago I got the same one but with a HDMI cable included at 18.99AUD.

    Can these do 144hz @ 1440p?

  • I bought a different splitter and had problems with it. I connect it to a Windows machine and a Macbook. Problem I had with it was that if I want to have the external display use the Macbook screen, the Windows machine had to remain on. If the Windows machine goes to sleep, the external display also goes to sleep.

Does this UGreen splitter prevent this from happening?

  • UGREEN HDMI Switch 2 in 1 out

    shouldn't it be 2 out 1 in?
