  • I really like Oud Wood and was wondering if anyone bought from this merchant and if there is a chance of fakes?

    • it looks like they have physical stores, don't think they'd sell fakes

    • +1

Tom Oud Wood didn't work for me. I bought it from Myer. Good luck if it works for you mate.

      • +1

Thanks. I have bought this before and like it.

      • i did the same, but was told to buy from david jones instead. i don't know why but the david jones one is stronger. im thinking myers has old stock and doesn't sell as fast as david jones. anyway to tell made date or expiry date?

    • I've bought from here - Ormonde Jayne Tolu EDP and it was the real deal.

  • +3

    Tom Ford never on discount
    Great find

Tobacco Vanille. One of the greatest fragrances ever (but definitely only for winter and for fancy).

    • Agree - my favourite of the Tom Ford range. Oud Wood a close second.

    • Should have added that it's unisex too. Just smells delicious. Like you could eat it. It's so yum.

    • Any spring/summer recommendations for people who like Tobacco Vanille?

      • +1

Not that I know of in the same scent family. It's so sweet and spicy.

In summer I like Terre D'Hermes, but it's not really the same. I also quite like Chanel Bleu. It's not great in summer, but the rest of the year it's great, and can be used every day unlike Tobacco Vanille which is more of a super fancy scent, like for a wedding or something. In really hot weather I'll wear Versace Pour Homme. It's so fresh. It smells like a swim in the ocean on a hot day.

  • Oh damn 30% off is a pretty big deal I wonder why the rep isn’t in here to share this deal?

  • -3

I don't know how they justify these high prices for fragrances. I'm happy with my $15 David Beckham range.

    • +24

There's always going to be people who are stoked with a $2 cheeseburger from Maccas or $15 shoes from Kmart.

      • +3

$2 cheeseburger? When are you.. 1991?

        Try $5.15 for a cheeseburger.

        • +4

These people of course use the app deals mate.

      • $15 shoes from Kmart

        Yikes

  • +7

Just grab Maison Alhambra's dupes. like 15% of the price and just as good.
They honestly feel and smell 95% the same.

IMHO all TF is overrated except for Tobacco Vanille.

    • +1

Absolutely .. people freak about cheap inspired ranges but seriously, you have some really good one and 90% of the population are just as happy that you've got something on instead of just B.O.

But I guess with everything else, buying expensive stuff is just a status thing.

      • +1

Considering that all fragrances are just alcohol as the carrier plus the actual fragrant oils / extracts plus whatever other chemicals are used for preservation, they’re all just marketing. No different than commodity luxury brands like LV. Good dupes are close to indistinguishable to me as a reasonably keen fragrance fan so to the general public you’ll smell just as good as if you spent $400 on a bottle of Aventus (of which I have an Asēdos clone and constantly get complimented on). Sure, I’d love the entire TF 50ml range but only I know and I’m at peace with it.

Now if only someone would be inspired by Hermès Poivre Samarcande and Fredric Malle Promise 🥲

    • Where would you suggest getting some?

      • +1

private blends seems to stock them.

    • What's the best place to get em from? I'm new to perfumes

      • Okay private blends, which ones do you all recommend?

    • +1

      How’s the sillage?

      • Pretty impressive 1m-2m and a decent trail.

        • Damn looks like I’ll be making a trial order then haha

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Edit trial order done

Get10off worked for 10% off which also stacked with the auto free ship offer for orders over $100 that expires in 4 days

  • +1

As a big fan of Tom Ford fragrances but not the prices, Asēdos makes scents inspired by them - I’ve currently got one inspired by White Suede and it’s fantastic.

    • Does the fragrance actually last for you?
How long did it take to finish a bottle because 30ml of oil does not sound much

      • +1

In terms of on the skin or the roller itself? On the skin yes, I’ll often smell it the next day, easily. The sillage is strong too. I use it 2-5 times a week; two dabs on the neck and one to the wrist and then rubbed in and the roller is down to about 2/3 full after maybe six months? A small amount goes a very long way. It’s oil so it sits on your skin longer.

They’re perfect for travel too. The only downside is the oil can mark clothes.

        • Alright im convinced. Any recommended scents?

          • @beoluch: It’s so subjective that it’s hard to say! Go into Myer / David Jones / Mecca and sample some and see what you like, but check Asēdos does them. Pick a few and go wild.

Personally, right now I really like Byredo Bal D’Afrique, Creed Aventus, Tom Ford White Suede, then for special occasions Hermès Voyage. Daily spritzer is Bottega Veneta Pour Homme.

            • @zfind: Got the one inspired by Byredo Bal D’Afrique because I liked how it smells when I checked it at the airport. Thanks again!

              • @beoluch: Excellent choice, it’s a very close match and probably the strongest of my three replicas - enjoy!

  • I would also include Ombre Leather as the 5th recommendation in addition to the 4 as OP has recommended. Good choice!

    • Agree. Ombré Leather is 👌

      • +1

For woman, i would also recommend Lost Cherry. I got this and it is one of my favourite in my entire collection of fragrances.

  • +1

This must be in response to Lynx's recent campaign. This was all over social media a couple of weeks ago. 74% of participants aged 16-24 preferred Lynx Black Vanilla fragrance to Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille fragrance, supposedly.

    • +11

Yeah but 99% of people aged 16-24 are morons. I wouldn't trust their judgement any further than I can throw them.

      • The same demographic that prefers showering in Lynx Africa vs Water and Soap

    • +2

Lets be honest Lynx Africa is all you need.

  • No love for Black Orchid? My signature winter fragrance as a male.

    • Could you help with the differences between the various black orchids?
Is it just size/packaging or male/female versions?
      Thanks BC

  • I keep hearing that the reformulation of Oud Wood is really weak now, and a skin scent within an hour.

I'm not sure if this is true or a bit over blown, anyone bought it recently?

    • +1

I purchase from Mecca and haven’t had any problems with longevity.

  • Anyone know of any good Bvlgari Le Gemme Gyan clones? Not into Bvlgari Man In Black or any of their others…

  • +1

I've been inspired to look at knock-off fragrances, as described above.
So, which is the better vaule, the Maison Alhambra or the Asedos?
The MA seems to be better priced per ml as the Asedos is around $30 for 10ml.
I also noted in Ebay that all the Maison Alhambra comes from India?

    • +1

      Asedos is oil

  • Love TF. I’m currently using Oud Wood and Ebene Fume.

    • +1

Ebene Fume is my current favourite just discovered it last year…been using OW for a while…

  • is this legit? i've been tempted to get some TF for years

  • i dont need it.. i dont need it..

  • bitter peach and vanilla sex are my favs.
I've purchased from them before in store in merrylands, man what an area.

  • +2

    Black Orchid is my catnip.

  • More than 50% discount on the 1L Flacon hahaha

  • +2

    This or pay the rent

    • -3

In Albo's Australia, how about neither?

  • Leather is my favourite fragrance.

  • Is it genuine? Quite decent discount…🤔

  • Yes! I can finally add the cocaine-inspired Tuscan leather to my collection.

  • There are a few Tom ford items on sale on “ Oz sale” website

  • -2

If my fave fragrances are Dior sauvage elixir & YSL ysl la nuit de l'homme, and two popular ones I’m not in love with being acqua de gio and Bleu de Chanel, which Tom ford should I buy?

  • Just received my 50ml and white suede and the lid is suspiciously light.

I'm not aware they made changes to the packaging so I can't help but feel like it's not real??.

    • All i can say is head into David Jones and weigh the real thing/test it and only then will you know.
