    • Do you even know why you're supposedly boycotting Starbucks? Starbucks told one of its employee unions to stop using pro-Hamas iconography (Hamas paragliders) while associating itself with the company. That's it. God forbid Starbucks not wanting to be associated with Islamic terrorism.

        • Right, but that's not what you said at all in your original comment. You said Starbucks "normalises killing innocent kids" — how is that in any sense true? Genuinely, please tell me. Maybe don't spout baseless accusations without educating yourself first.

            • -1

@persianoz: Mate, there are no Starbucks stores in Israel. Zilch. How can I expect you to debate in good faith when you can't even do elementary research. A McDonald’s franchise in Israel gave free food to soldiers — nothing to do with the actual corporation.

"When the Russia attacked Ukraine" — are you trying to say that Israel is equivalent to Russia? Hamas attacked Israel, like Russia attacked Ukraine. Israel has a right to defend itself, as does Ukraine.

You also point to 35,000+ civilians dead (btw, the most recent update was 32,916, so you're just making numbers up at this point. Death toll count: https://news.sky.com/story/israel-hamas-war-health-system-co…), but do not mention the amount of Hamas soldiers that is within that figure (The Gaza Health Ministry does not distinguish between combatant and civilian casualties in its reports) and ignore the low civilian to combatant death ratio, particularly in densely populated Gaza. Do you even know how many Hamas fighters have been killed? Have you ever thought of researching that? Or do you genuinely believe Israel is exclusively targeting civilians? Hamas themselves have said they believe they have lost 6,000 fighters in the war (https://www.wionews.com/world/hamas-official-says-over-6000-…) , while the IDF claims up to 12,000 Hamas combatants were killed in Gaza as of 19 February 2024. i.e., according to Israel reports, a ~2:1 civilian to combatant death ratio. (https://edition.cnn.com/2023/12/05/middleeast/israel-hamas-m…). The Lancet has a correspondence w/a similar number (17 likely civilians for every 8 potential combatants; ~2-1, https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(23)02640-5/fulltext )

To Hamas's own account, a 4:1 civilian to combatant death ratio. Don't get me wrong — every civilian death is tragic, but this is war, and it is not unprecedented. The UN says in moderns war its 9-1 (https://press.un.org/en/2022/sc14904.doc.htm). As unfortunate as civilian deaths are, the ratio of civilian deaths is much lower than average. The rate of soldier to civilian death is remarkably low for the history of modern warfare. This is the most difficult kind of fighting — made even more difficult by Hamas' trademark placing of munitions, and fighters in schools, hospitals, and civilian homes.

Hamas knew what it was doing - and knew this would be the outcome. Loss of life is tragic…but it is an existential war for Israel. It's as simple, and as complicated, as that.

              • @Charlieeee: Can you please explain how starvation and destruction of all hospitals for 2+ million people is normal in war?
Looks like colonialism to me, ask the Irish how they felt back then.

@HunterBargainHunter: It's sad that people just neg your comment without giving a reason why. What you speak is truth my brother. 😔

        What do they mean? IRL!

As this is a sales event, expect they will want plenty of your data before you get a $10 Starbucks gift card.
I think that is what is meant by Participate!

Expect SPAM from the businesses there.

  • YouTube promotion of this event, handy to know what to expect!

  • Event: "Australia's biggest study, career and migration event for international students and travelers"

    Watched the video…
    Don't see me there!

Study? Done plenty! (likely fee paying)
Career? Left my consulting business in Queen St to travel. No thanks.
Migration? No Visa needed. Born here.
    for international students: not me
    and travelers… Well I'd "Rather be Travelling"😉

    I won't be going.
But then I'm not invited (they won't make 💰 from me).
