I use these for podcasts, and they're excellent

    • How is the microphone for taking on the phone outdoors.

      • Fine if not much wind (but I'm near Ballarat, so…)

        • -1

What? It says headphones which means no microphone. It doesn't say headset. Unless I missed something…

          • +1

@nonparticular: You’ll find that a vast majority of headphones with microphones just call themselves headphones. A product calling itself headphones doesn’t indicate anything when it comes to microphones

Besides this pair has active NC so it definitely has microphones

    • How are they for longer term wearing? Do your ears hurt after a while?

      • +2

Very good - wear them for hours when doing housework

        • +1

Cheers, will give them a crack

        • @mickeyjuiceman hi, do the ear pads sit over your ears, ie on your head, or do they sit on your ears. hate the round ones that sit on your ears, makes them sore after awhile, as for the oval shaped ones so the cups are on your head and your ears are inside the headphone, if you know what i mean :)

          • +1

@subwars: These are ''Over Ear'' headphones as opposed to ''On Ear'' so these completely cover your ear, not just sit on them

    • Do they feel heavy?

      • +2

Nope, lighter than my AKG N100s were

    • +2

I think you got it mixed up, that's the Q20, Q20i actually has USB C Charging port.

      • +4

Apologies, you're absolutely right. The Q20i indeed has USB-C, just looked at the Amazon listing.

        • +1

          No worries 🤣

  • +2

never heard about this brand before

    • +3

It's by Anker, very popular on Amazon.

    • +1

Sold tens of millions of units

    • +1

Anker are huge, one of the biggest names in power banks / chargers.

Their headphones aren't exactly HIFI but most are great value.

      • +1

None of Bluetooth headphones are hifi

    • +1

soundcore is a sub brand of anker.

tbh it was confusing for a bit because in the US all anker audio products are branded soundcore, and for awhile all australian anker audio products were branded anker. but they kind of combined them together in aus. I think eventually all anker audio products in aus will also be branded soundcore.

I have a Soundcore Q30 at home and have had it for the past 3 years. Initially, Anker was a fairly new brand to me, but I've started to notice them everywhere. I was just at the Easter Show yesterday and they were advertising their portable power systems. Anker is a solid brand, and this seems to be a well reviewed headphone.

  • +1

Can these be used to listen to a movie shown on an aeroplane screen?

    • +5

Description on the web page states "compatible with Hi-Res certified audio via the AUX cable", so I'd be guessing yes, AUX (3.5mm audio) is the clue there.

    • +2

One review mentioned active noise cancelling not working when wired, and at that time sound wasn't as good wired

      • I think that's not uncommon, I've been reading similar comments about other brands recently. But at least it lets you plug in them in on a plane.

If anyone has any info about a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter, that would allow headphones with only a USB-C connector to be plugged into a plane, I'd be most grateful for the info / model / etc.

        • +2

It probably wont work but you could try a male to male 3.5mm and then plug it into the USB C to 3.5 adapter. However as 3.5 is analogue and USB is digital, not sure it works - however the apple usb-3.5 connector is said to be bi directional, so maybe?

Or buy a 3.5mm bluetooth dongle to plug in on the plane and just connect via that.

    Thanks OP, got one!

Also, you have to enter the code before the free shipping option appears.

Confirmed, i got shipping for $7 and then disappeared after code entered

  • Anyone know how these compare to the taotronics soundsurge 90? Love my pair but it's time to replace them..

    • Also have the sound surge 90s, might give the older brother Q35 a shot once on sale (need hard case and airline adaptor for travels). SS90 noise cancelling on plane is not too shabby so would hope the Ankers are equally as good

    • I think the soundsurge 90 is still great among newer budget headsets I've tried so far.

Worth replacing the earpads if yours has worn out IMO

      • Any place you recommend getting the earpads from?
Tried from a seller in aliexpress and ANC stopped working after using their pads :/

        • I think I had a similar problem, haha.

I bought a fabric earpad, I always knew that it would worsen the passive isolation, but it was quite substantially worse. The foam is less dense, taller and fabric is more porous. I'm pretty sure if I went for a shorter and faux leather one, it wouldn't be as bad

It's kinda the reason why I got another budget headphone. I still use the 90's though, the fabric pads is a lot more comfy and cooler (for warm days like today) than my 2 other headsets that are made from faux leather and leather.

I wouldn't say it stopped working, but the ANC is definitely a fair bit worse.

So unfortunately I don't have a particular recommendation, but be mindful of the material/height on the earpad. The old earpad seemed very generic in size/dimensions

I've had a pair of these for around 18mths. Have been excellent in all regards. used for podcasts, not sure I could justify spending more as these are strong performers in all regards.

  • +2

Used soundcore before, bought it as the cheapest option available on amazon at the time, but was blown away by the quality, great value theyve been.

  • +5

If it helps anyone, the Q35 is available on Soundcore's website directly for $99 (with newsletter signup). You have to scroll down the page to prompt the email signup.

    • How much better are the q35?

      • +1

you can use Q35 wired to plane entertainment while ANC is on. also comes with hard case. https://www.soundguys.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/IMG_950…

        • For the price is it better to stick with Q20i or better to upgrade to Q35? My son will only used it for listening music while studying.

          • @Reverbs:

My son will only used it for listening music while studying.

Q20i then. Q35 will be better for airplane travel, but it will get cheaper if you wait and buy just before your flight if you need it.

      • I can't say from experience as I just ordered the q35's on Sunday. AFAIK the Q20i doesn't include a hard case, so I wouldn't get them for travel.

  • Do they come with a carry case?

  • +2

    Bought one just because

  • Rate against Bose QC35 or 45?

  • +1

    Ordered 1 Thanks 🙏

  • Anyone know if this one l on or over the ear headphones?

  • Thoughts on these for the gym? Mainly weight training and some cardio

  • +1

    Out of stock apparently.

  • I'm getting "Coupon code not valid", and the product page says "Flash deal expired"… Have I missed it?

    • same here.
Flash Deal Expired but on the other hand, the option is active that shows how to avail discount.

    • Yeah getting the same message also :(

    • probably. Same issue here on my end
