[iOS] Free: Lifetime Plan for GamingVPN - 1.1.1.1 @ Apple App Store

13

Lifetime in-app purchases are free for a limited time, if you’re getting something expensive for free, then you’re the product. Tread carefully. Especially in the case of VPNs. I tried it and it's very unstable. just posting it here to those who might find it beneficial.

  1. Install and open app
  2. Exit out of the first "purchase" screen
  3. Tap "Upgrade to Premium" on the main screen
  4. "Buy" Lifetime for $0.00

GamingVPN enables uninterrupted gameplay by providing solutions to connection problems.

Play your favorite games….. on a fast network without clogging up your personal wifi.

wow, so it switches you mobile data?
obviously with a name like 1.1.1.1 it's gotta have some flare.

For those unaware 1.1.1.1 is a Cloudflare service and by looking at this it looks like they’re just trying to use the Cloudflare name to rank hire on App Store (or confuse people).

Would personally avoid and just use the entirely free Cloudflare service - https://apps.apple.com/au/app/1-1-1-1-faster-internet/id1423…

Edit: Should add that but entirely free I meant there is a free version

    • Same on Android by just changing dns to one.one.one.one

    Don't bother using this crap.

By using this service, you are routing all of your traffic through someone's servers somewhere and any traffic is only encrypted between you and the VPN servers (plus whatever usual encryption you have). This means that they can see all of your traffic as if you were connected to their network. As such, you need to really trust the party at the other end. See the ongoing Onavo/Facebook data mining incident.

Their claims are a bit dubious too, "play your favourite games… without clogging up your personal wifi" was written by someone who has no clue what's going on. There are also very few cases in which VPN services can help with speed and latency. For example, sometimes ISPs will throttle speeds on certain types of traffic or have bad routing (don't ask I don't really know much about this).

Chances are this is an individual developer white labelling a VPN service to make a quick buck.

As always, some VPN recommendations for privacy reasons:
    - Mullvad VPN
    - Proton VPN

As much as I don't support this deal, I need to point out that

By using this service, you are routing all of your traffic through someone's servers somewhere and any traffic is only encrypted between you and the VPN servers (plus whatever usual encryption you have). This means that they can see all of your traffic

is true for any VPN, not just this one.

        Yes true - I wasn't clear.

That's why I mentioned that you need to really trust the VPN provider (which goes for any provider) - but that's a whole other debate.

  • It's beneficial to avoid.

  • Dodgy - They are using 1.1.1.1 to misrepresent themselves
