  • Pretty sure i saw the dual pack on amazon for $79 a few days ago

Cheaper price, however it's a UK import so comes with the UK wall plug and requires a few extra steps in getting that working: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/832774.

      • Would you be so kind and share what extra steps needed? I got the UK one but haven’t opened it yet.

        • +1

The wall plug that comes with the unit has a model number TP-Link T090060-2E1, pop it into google to see what it looks like. The AU and UK versions may identical voltages, etc, but I don't know for certain.

If you order the UK stock you'd either need to have a similar 9V 0.6A wall plug around the house that fits the unit, in which case plug it in and away it goes. Else you'd need to either buy another wall plug to fit the unit, or if you have a EU to AU travel adapter that'd work as well I suppose.

Just depends if you already have things around the house to use really! Else the AU stock comes at a slight premium in price for ease of plug-and-play :)

  • I have the c200 and the c210 The c210 is as advertised " Crystal clear"

  • +4

Black version is the "newer" model C211 for the same price @ Amazon AU
Besides the colour, the spec difference looks near identical, though from the Tapo site looks like the C211 also has "On-Device Machine Learning"

  • is 3MP considered ultra high resolution?

    • +2

      Nah. The C210 does 2304 x 1296 px resolution, that's roughly 2K video. It's pretty decent.

Can this be used externally under the eaves? Will probably need a longer cable than is provided in this package.

    • Yes I have two mounted under the eaves. However I'm pretty sure they aren't outdoor cameras, so there is a risk that the elements will affect them.

      • I am not very handy so can you explain how you get a plug point or extension cord under the eaves? Do I need an electrician to do this. Bought 4 C210 from the Harvey Norman deal - 2 Pack for $58.

    • Yes I have one under the eaves. They are very sensitive to movement. My motion detection picks up the movement of tree branch shadows on the ground.

      • You can edit the movement sensitivity, from low, medium and high. I think mine sense human body movement.

    • Thought about this myself, but trying to get power to it under the eaves was a bit of a challenge without a sparky. Ended up going down the PoE camera path.

They are still good as an indoor security camera, such as near windows to monitor it and deter burglars that would see it and think twice.

I use this as a baby monitor, it is leaps ahead of the $200-300 crap they sell at Baby bunting.

    • I do the same but it is just missing a few features the dedicated crap ones have. Like if it disconnects, or does it's 5 minute time out when it thinks it's going over the internet, it gives no sound warning. Have you had issues with this and found a way around it? Do you use the Tapo app for baby monitoring?

      • +1

you can stream the rtsp feed via vlc on your phone, works well with no timeouts.

  • Can you watch these on a PC or is it app only?

    • You can watch on a browser on any device once you’ve added a “Camera Account” in the Tapo app. Not much functionality though, just a video stream.

  • These cameras are excellent. One mounted outside fell 15m onto concrete TWICE yesterday and still worked afterwards!

    • +6

      The concrete still works?

  • I got two of these mounted outside under the eaves. They are decent for the money. The mobile app is good. You can use local storage and don't have to use the cloud. Person detection is good. Has an alarm and light. You can pan/tilt via the app.

Bought 2 single packs from Amazon for $70.20 delivered with the extra 10% off if buying 2 or more items.

    • The 210/211 or 200? The 210/211 don't have that deal plus 10% wouldn't reduce $98 down to that much?

    • Got a link?

  • I’m interested in this for our baby coming soon.

I saw there’s a new model (C220) I’ve read the differences but it’s also $40 more at the moment. Anyone here to with the C220 over the C210?
