Roborock S8 Pro Ultra Robotic Vacuum & Mop Cleaner $2243.23 (RRP $2699) + $15 Delivery @ JB Hi-Fi Commercial (Account Required)

160

Been on the lookout for a deal and came across this today. JB Commercial membership required of course (check with your employer or superfund for access), but seems like a reasonable price at moment. Other options at present are the Dreame L10s $1800, which is probably just as good and saves some coin.

This. Got my Roborock S5 Max for 500 bucks a few years ago.

Apart from paying more in a robovac for an auto empty vacuum and mop tank, the mark-up on Roborock is ridiculous these days.

Let's just hide everything behind "AI" and jack the price up.

          • +1

@adrianhughes1998: same - the s5 max has been fine, although defs have gone over cables and gotten stuck, gotten stuck on a few other things

Would only really change for the auto lift of the mop over carpet/auto empty dock

            • +1

@MustardKetchup: This, the auto-lift of mop is a must-have I'd say to make things even easier, but the AI detection of turds and wiring and other obstacles isn't really needed. A want more than a must-have.

        • +2

          I like your translation. Haha

I'm just hanging to replace my 8 year old robot with a robot that has the oscillation mop and empty dock, but they price those festures as a huge premium.

Every other feature is just white noise of a standard vacuum

    • +2

It sucks hard, makes it wet and washes itself

      • +2

You know in that context $2250 for a lifetime of this is a proper BARGAIN if you ask me. Just don't tell my wifey.

  • -6

Read someone got this for around $1900 couple of weeks ago, they provided receipts. Tried to price match but they wouldnt do it haha.
so looks like it has potential to get cheaper, id wait.

    • +2

Neg vote isn’t really applicable if there’s not a cheaper price at the time of this post

  • +1

Waiting for s7 MaxV Ultra to drop lower as this latest model ages .. 1500-1600 would be reasonable

    • +1

I too thought that'd be the strategy — until I learned JB HiFi stopped restocking, so the only major retailer that will carry it is Harvey Norman. Counting on them to not monopolise their position is like expecting water not to be wet.

JB HiFi did a June final genuine clearance at ~$1800 (you could stack discount with gift card etc to make it cheaper). Thankfully I picked up the last 'ex-demo' (actually was still in box) from them in July but there was only 1 other unit in whole of Victoria left.

Does it do you dishes? Make lunches for kids? Fold the clothes? Etc?

    • No, but if you calculate your hourly rate, say $70 an hour, then after only 31 hours you will break even. Imagine running this thing for a few years, you are practically MAKING money

      • Who's here making $70 an hour? After tax especially?

        • +2

Every ozb, given the amount of crap they buy

    • no, but it helps you ask stupid questions if that would be of benefit.

  • +1

Wow hyperforce suction wth I guess the word people in marketing are keeping busy .

    • Working hard at a session at the local bar.

  • Shows up at $2,326 for me. Are there different tiers?

  • +1

is the $2k difference worth it vs what the $199 (got one) dreame can do?

    • it sucks better

    • Definitely worth. Pretty much you spent $2k to buy yourself plenty of time of freedom.

Consider how much time you need to spend on vacuuming and mopping. You can decide if you choose that time of freedom or $2k. Everyone is different.

      • so the $199 dreame cant do majority of what this $2k vacuum does?

        • +1

Nah I upgrade from Roborock S5 to New Ecovacs. I have a large dog at home. I used my Roborock for just vacuum in the last 5 years, no issues.

But since upgrading, now it vacuums and mops my whole house regularly, automatically fills the tank, and disposes the dirty water to drain. I just need to change the dust bag every few months. Compared to old roborock, it vacuums much cleaner as well.

So if you spent $2k and it does all that, I personally think the time it saved for me is much more expensive than $2k.

  • Is it a vacuum or a smart phone ?

    • Well this is smarter and more useful than Apple watch

  • -2

    Can it make coffee?

  • I am waiting for Dreame L20 Ultra out mid this month I think.

Lets see what that comes out to be, a better choice than this.

    • +1

Was tempted to do the same. L20 looks to set a new benchmark and the likes of the S8 will probably start to see more discounting.

      • How is it setting a new benchmark? I can see the twin rotating / extending mop is main difference. Anything else?

        • Edge mop cleaning and option to integrate to home plumbing so you never need to refill the clean water and empty the waste water.

        • Automatic detergent dosing

    • @ozsingh83 how do you know it's coming to Australia this month?

      • It will just gonna cost 3 grand

        • Well in Australia, we are getting ripped off. I can easily get S8 Ultra Pro for AUD1900 in Singapore without any sale

      • Not confirmed to be honest…. It’s getting launched in few countries on 15th Sep…. Hopefully not too much delay here as well

  • Delivery kills the deal

    • Tight margin. I think you can do pickup in-store.

  • I don't see it for this price. The price I get is $2,408.97. Am I doing something wrong?

    • Seen this reported a few times. Not sure how JBCommercial does its pricing, but it must be linked to the deal they established with the relevant business. I got mine through ART member benefits.

      • Thanks :( bad luck for me then

        • Was able to get the same price as in the title by contacting them on the website.

  • For this price, I seriously expect it will be able to dump the rubbish in the bin and drag my rubbish bins out to the kerb on the council rubbish collection days and take them back when empty, do regular bin washing and greet me when I come home lolz

  • I bought my S6 for about $600 and it's still going strong. Paying $2,243.23 to do the same thing is ridiculous in my opinion

  • +2

For a less-expensive model that vacuums well, mops, and auto-empties its dock, consider Roborock Q7 Max+.

I bought one two days ago for $849 after using vouchers.

I know it's super expensive but I have this and its really been a lifesaver since we have young kids. Had the eufy hybrid before and that was an absolute joke as it gets stuck everywhere and have to manually swap out the mop pad which ends up just being a wet cloth dragged around.

    • +2

This is where the real saving is. If you have a larger floor space and family you’re saving a couple of hours every week.

      • couple of hours every day! my kids are feral animals.

  • for 2k it should be powerful enough to suck my…

  • You people complaining must love cleaning/mopping your own homes. I have S7 Ultra MaxV and it is the best money spent. I set it up to vac twice a week and vac/mop twice a week. My floors are always spotless.

    • People are complaining about the price, not the product. I'm sure the product functions well and is amazing.

My $500~ Roborock S5 Max Robot does a good job too, my house is spotless and with a dog and cat. It's not hard to empty the bin, it's barely any effort, especially if you position it next to your bin. Yes the mop is a nice upgrade, but I don't walk around with shoes in house, and it's not all that much effort. The mop function on mine is good enough, and I do a proper mop every 3 months, if that same as probably you would to get into all the corners. Or quick zip around with a spray mop.

I'll consider the upgrade once it goes below $1K price point, or get a second hand one. Otherwise I'm fine with what I have, as I am sure others would be too. Roborock prices are ridiculous now.

  • Hoping my $200 dreame one comes soon

  • Folks, it's showing $2,408.97 to me. How do I get access the $2243.23 price?

    • +1

Someone further up said "Was able to get the same price as in the title by contacting them on the website." .. maybe give that a shot.

    • I think different corporate log-ins give different prices. ART show 2243 while Toyota reward show 2323.09.

  • +1

I wouldn't have expected my first post/comment to be about a vacuum, but here I am.

I've had the S8 Pro Ultra for a month now and I hesitated for a while before buying because of the price. But, after using it everyday, multiple times a day, any reservations I had have gone.

With 4 young kids, here's my top likes (no particular order):

    • It washes the mop at whatever interval I prefer and, when it's finished cleaning, it quietly dries the mop so there's no 'wet dog' smell.
    • It's been hands off - just empty the dirty water and refill the clean water tank. The dock bag is a decent size too - not even half full for me.
    • I can tailor the suction power for each room (handy when I want it to run quietly past baby's room)
    • The hair tangle on the rollers has been non-existent! I love my Miele Cat and Dog, but the hair tangle and subsequent time cutting and cleaning is a pain.
    • We try to do a good tidy every night before we run the vac, but there's still the odd obstacle. It picked up a really small dinosaur toy once, but besides that, we've never had any issues.
    • It's been handy with Google Assistant: I tell it to clean the dining room after kids' snack time and off it goes.

For the price, I'm making sure I use it as much as I can while it's under the 2 yr warranty. Hasn't missed a beat so far and love coming down to a spotless floor every morning.

  • my commercial account shows just S8 and and S8+, which both can be found cheaper online elsewhere!
