[Switch] Eastward $21.57 @ Nintendo eShop

130

First time it's been on sale this year for Nintendo Switch. 40% off, matches previous low DekuDeal.

Charming game, have only played a few hours myself but enjoying it so far. Music and art style are lovely. Seems a perfect match for handheld play. Let others know your thoughts on it (without spoilers!) in the comments.

  • You will hate this game when you reach the second half.

      Why?

      • +3

battle is annoying without too much rewards and story is not good as the beginning.

        first 5 hours, 10/10. after that, 6/10.

    • Regardless still a great game. The end battle sequence is shitty, the storyline otherwise is exceptional.

from reviews, that is a really good game

Soundtrack is awesome! Well executed to gameplay. Top 10 indie games on switch! IMO

Music slaps! Played it at launch and I still remember the sound track.

It's like a 2D zelda with a twist. You play as a silent protagonist that wields guns and pan (for melee) with a friend that has psychic powers.

Swapping between the two, you embark on a linear story to kick butts and solve puzzles. Yes, it's very linear. There are many points of no return so good luck if you want to 100%

Like others have pointed out, the game starts off amazing with its premise, world building but it loses steam around 3/4 of the way (train bit and pun intended) before getting better again but doesn't hit the same highs at the beginning.

The game came our fairly polished and I encountered only 1 glitch which prevented me from solving a puzzle. But apart from that, the puzzles were fun. The optional puzzles were great and made me feel smart for solving.

Overall, I still have fond memories of this game despite its flaws. It tried to do something different while taking inspirations from various games. The game didn't feel like a rip off or a cash grab but can feel that this game came from a place of love. So kudos to the indie developer.

Edit: forgot to mention, there is a lot of text to read! Like a lot. I loved it but definitely not for everyone. The pace is pretty slow too so if you are in for the action, avoid
