Relatively well received deal on this jaffle maker last time, now $49 delivered at amazon who are price matching good guys.

Credits to price hipster for original ping on the good guys price drop and to zero surprise, amazon has stepped in to match.

I personally have a breville 74, and my favourite jaffle receipe is blueberry and cream cheese.

How many sandwich makers do I get?

    • +2

No time to count, better estimate! Uhh Uh… 10!

  • +3

    any best waffle-making combo unit?

  • +7

looks like they're price matching the good guys.

EDIT - well shit it'd help if I read the OP's post which said the very same thing!

  • +3

Any good affordable models that make 2 jaffles not 4?

    • +3

      Yes

    • for a Family of 4 mate

    • +2
      • +4

I was happy too. Until I used this Breville one. It’s a whole lot different level of Sandwiches you get. Won’t go back to Kmart one if you use this.

        • +1

          What’s the difference exactly?

          • +3

@neurofunky: Evenly cooked, crispier, temp control n Timer. Haven’t had burnt sandwiches ever.

            • @PopCounty: Thanks, I didn’t realize the cheap one can burn your breads.

          • +2

@neurofunky: Be aware the Kmart one is a "deep dish" one… you really need to overload the filling to get it full enough. And then when you bite into it, all that lava hot filling goes everywhere. I've never understood why deep dish versions are a thing. I got a Breville "Big One" which does 4 sandwiches overloaded, and all it did was make a damn mess everywhere.

OP's one is normal shape…. tried and tested over decades of use.

I like the 74 as per original post. I identify as a family of 4 for purposes of serving sizes tho

    • +1 for the 74.

With a bit of patience you can pick them up 2nd hand for under $50. Just check the photos of the plates and get something that’s not scratched.

  • +4

Would recommend the 74, fast compact, and relatively indestructible.

Twice the price and half the size though.

    • Any idea of differences?

      • Mainly, 2 < 4

        • So why would you recommend the 74 if the only difference is that it does fewer than this one?

    • +1

What's the 74? I'm unable to find reference to it.

    • +1

I have a 74 and can recommend as per my op

    • I'd definitely go the '74, I've got kids abusing me for Jaffles a lot but it's worth the wait to do two loads/4 sandwiches 👌

  • I may be able to spare some counter-top space for such a machine. Does anyone know if there are any models that have stainless steel plates without the non-stick?

    • I don’t think I’ve ever seen an electric one in stainless .Maybe the only other one is like a traditional camp fire cast iron one

  • -1

    Diagonal line = no deal!

  • +5

    $47 on Good Guys Commercial

    • +2

This is delivered next day and free returns tho - but yes if ya want to save $2.. and happen to.. be passing a good guys maybe…

  • +15

I totally regret buying this item. It was only used a few times and is impossible to clean as the teflon/non stick coating peeled off almost immediately.

    • +5

      Thank you for your sacrifice.

    • What did you use to clean it?

      • +2

Only used a sponge with warm water and detergent yet the non stick coating (most likely Teflon) ended up being an extra ingredient for my sandwich

        • +2

Does that mean your stomach lining is now non-stick? Isn't that a bonus?

          • +2

@montorola: I just never thought of the positive side effects before now. Thanks

          • @montorola: Might help with number 2s as well if lining goes all the way to the hole. No more sticky sh!t

    • +3

I have this one as well. We've been using it for about a year and no peelage on ours.

The only complaint of I've got is it's slow to warm up and there's a silly "start to warm up" and then a timer thingy.

Just frigging turn on max heat and make my jaffle!

Considering I bought it for much more, I'm tempted to say just get your local $15 one from your local home mart.

    • Just out of interest, was it done while it was still hot?

    • +4

Agree 100% - this unit is an absolute piece of junk. Bought this to replace an old (around 15 years old?) Breville during lockdown, and it instantly became the single most hated piece of equipment in the house. The timer control interface is an abomination that replicates the feeling of dread and frustration you get when you try to help your parents fix their computer over the phone, and worst of all I swear the the non-stick coating is around 1 Planck Length thick and flakes off if you so much as as look at it the wrong way. At that point, this POS becomes a blackhole, sticking not just to your bread, but the fillings, the kitchen bench it's sitting on, and sucking in bread and small animals from nearby houses to stick to its surface. The sandwhich plates are too large for most bread loaves so they don't seal properly, and makes it impossible to make my favourite egg jaffle. Avoid this thing. Warn your family and friends. Pray to your Deity and beg forgiveness for whatever it is we did to make them foist this monstrosity upon us.

  • +1

    Ohhh it has scissor action!

    • +3

      giggity

  • +5

I have an automatic sandwich maker that can make a multitude of different combinations, it’s very expensive but very worth it. It’s got a secret additional function where it gave me two kids too.

    • +5

      What did it cost?

      JoeBogan: everything.

      • +2

Everything and still counting. Total cost of ownership: not yet finalised.

  • +4

    Ugh more teflon shit

  • Dispatch in two to four weeks

Good pricing (plus vote), but there's a wait for delivery if you're thinking warm winter treats!

    • Nah original batch prob sold out it was next day delivery at time of order

      • +1

Now sold out completely, so I must have been right at the tail end!

  • Is it easy to clean?

    • +1

      Nah yeh.

  • +3

Why is it called a sandwich maker when it's clearly a jaffle maker? 🤦
The sandwich maker is me, the one putting the sandwich into the jaffle maker.

    • +2

Prob because everyone can understand what a sandwich is, but not everyone would know what a jaffle is… which is 2 bits of bread sealed with filling… so basically a variation on sandwhich

  • +1

I just bought this from my hospital bed, have been on the lookout for one of these for a while myow.

  • In stock for $96!!

    • Not through amazon, through a 3rd party

Just get it at gg if you need some jaffle goodness in your life

  • Any of these type of machine that have removable plates to make washing easier?

    • +2

No -but fwiw I just wipe my 74’s plates down with a wet paper towel when it’s cooled down a bit… it’s not like a deep fryer/airfryer that gets out of control quickly and needs deep cleaning …

  • +1

Look at Jimmy Masterchef. Gonna have to give it a go!

my favourite jaffle receipe is blueberry and cream cheese.

    • +1

Try the tried n trusted braised steak & onion. The deeper the dish the better. You want that oozing goodness being scooped back into the sandwich and straight to your hungry mouth.

    • I’ve been trying to work out mi goreng with runny egg jaffle but just can’t get it right :( egg usually ends up too cooked

  • +1

Thanks. Grabbed from goodguys. Click and collect. Picked up at 850pm today. Already made 1 sandwich

    • So there were three empty jaffle moulds when you were making one.

  • +2

This is the worst jaffle maker I have ever owned. The coating started to break down within a few months. Never used any metal on the surface and tried to clean after use. Have a 90's Jaffle Maker that is more reliably nonstick.

    • Good thing amazon has an easy returns policy

      • +2

Or you wait to by a better product for the same price that will last. Rather than buying stuff that will go to landfill.

        • +1

whats your better recommendation for $49?

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: We had a Sunbeam Big Fill Toastie, which have had for 5+ years. It cooks way faster and the coating is bulletproof in comparison. I love Breville products, but this was an absolute disappointment.

  • Fyi this is available on back order now, shipping expected in 2-4 weeks

    • ta mate, i marked it as live again and updated op to reflect 2-4 weeks

  • I've never owned one of these, only owned a sandwich press… does any one know how these taste once they're cold? Thinking of making this for my kids lunch. Toast them in the morning, cool them down before putting it in their lunch box so it doesn't get soggy from the steam. Bad idea?

    • Put it on paper towel while it cools made a difference I found

  • Sold out, can not place a backorder anymore
    Good price

  • +1

This is available again at the same price.

  • anywhere to price match $49 or it is $56 now
