[NSW] Free Teachers Lounge Membership for Sydney Symphony (Verification Required)

690

Long time user, first time poster…feel free to not go easy if you think this is a crap deal. I can take it! I did a search first but it doesn't seem like anyone has posted about this before.

This deal only applies to teachers…sorry everyone else.

Blurb from the website…

Teachers Lounge membership is available to current early childhood, primary and secondary teaching practitioners.
As part of the membership, you will receive access to:

  • Two complimentary tickets to select Sydney Symphony concerts
  • Access to past editions of our Teacher Resource Kits
  • Classroom resources and lesson plans created by music education professionals
  • Early access to bookings for primary and secondary concerts

I've only recently accessed the Teachers Lounge but found it great. They offer 4 different concerts a term and It's not limited to nose-bleed tickets on obscure days either. I booked two A Reserve tickets for a Friday night concert (normally around $150 each). You can sign up easily online. You just need a valid school email address.1 Customer service is great too. I initially booked for a Saturday night but needed to change. Rang up and changed over the phone in about 5 mins. Super easy.

  1. The sign-up form will accept any email address but teacher verification is performed manually by the membership team. Please don't waste their time and sign up with fake IDs. — Mod*

I've gone to a couple of concerts this year through this. Been great!

  • Champagne sipping Bolsheviks.

  • Can the tickets be given to / used by someone else?

  • @Miket75Just finishing up with my early childhood teacher course and working in childcare. How to sign up if there is no school id ?

  • Are support teachers eligible?

  • So what plays at Sydney Symphony or whatever? I'm not very cultured. If it's a bunch of Mozart and Rachmaninov etc then meh

If it's some old school Final Fantasy orchestra or similar then yeah I'm keen

    • They play everything from Mozart to film scores to pop, rock, jazz, electro collabs and all sorts of things. I'm sure I've seen them do video game scores before. One of my favourite gigs I've seen with them was Ben Folds.

    • So what plays at Sydney Symphony or whatever?

They're doing Black Panther if that's your thing:

How about home schooling parents? What do we enter in? We have a hea.nsw.edu.au email address if that helps.

I've entered our details in as a home schooling parent - let's see if they approve!

    • FYI I was able to get approval as a home schooling parent!

  • This is fantastic! Is there any other teacher perks out there? Thanks :)

      • Be a teacher then?

Sounds like you’ll be living the dream.

Not sure if there's a measure of truth behind what I assume is an attempted joke. Regardless, as a husband of a high-school maths teacher, these are gross misconceptions. Will spare the details, but these "perks" are fantasies for most teachers.

If it wasn't a joke, I apologise for the assumption. Then it's just plain ignorance.

      • Huh, turns out there are ten teachers on this site.
And anyone claiming the above don't exist are either lying or deluded.
It is true that SOME teachers work long hours, and SOME teachers take work home - but so do many people in all sorts of other jobs…

  • ah dang, looks like it's ended.. only just saw this post pop up in my feed..
would love this as partner is early childhood and trying to get her to go more to see concerts etc.
will have to try for term 1

  • I just signed up then. Says it may take a week to approve.
