      Adult Video ? (Chuckle)

    • Kept on blocking RDP ports an their support was absolutely useless. No way to cancel and get a refund.

You don't need this for PC, Mac or iOS. Absolute waste of money.

        Says the person buying AV.

        • True internets much safer now than before less threats. Ill just turn on windows defender like a clown

        • Nah am downloading free AV …….

That's all you've got as a reply, "Ok Boomer"?

He's right, it IS a waste of money. Unless of course you yourself are in the business of making money off of this junk?

    • Need? No.

But its HIPS and day1 heuristics are notably higher than all the competitors ive tested.

For one recent test I was doing; most RATs stop triggering after 2 or 3 obfuscation packagings; but I always need at least 4, more commonly 5 to get them past Bitdefender, and Kaspersky.

Though Kaspersky has been accused of taking "whole samples" when it detects a positive; so if you're privacy focused, thats a cross against it.

      • You can just use the free version. It is only missing "Network Threat Prevention", which I would avoid anyway. All the other missing features are bloat

    • 100% yes.

  • When would the start date be normally? when you buy the licence or first activate? I'm still paying for something else for a while, but might be handy to sit on if possible.

      When you activate it

      • Thanks for that. Good to hear. I still have quite a few months left on my existing software licenses, so might buy and sit on them.

Waste of money. I hate M$, but their Windows Defender is perfectly adequate. Take a commonsense approach to clicking on links and opening unknown emails, and have a good password manager, and you'll be fine.

Decades of daily PC use and I've never had an issue. Antivirus software decades ago was mandatory. Now it's just needless bloatware.

This and Norton's is just preying on fear and lack of knowledge.

  • I can't comment on the benefits of BitDefender specifically, but I would say that a while back my dad got a trojan put on his PC which Windows Defender didn't detect

They got a whole lot of his personal info, and ended up scamming him.

As part of the washup, we installed Kaspersky and detected the trojan

Anti-virus is a worthwhile investment for protecting vulnerable people from themselves - people like kids or my dad who click on links in unsolicited emails….

  • Perhaps try Malwarebytes?

You'll get 30 days of the premium version, which features real-time protection. Thereafter the free version is worth keeping as long as you perform manual scans every so often.

They have 50% off promotions very often if you really need the real-time protection.

    One OzBargain user commented:
(Re Malwarebytes) "Probably the only "AV" software worth getting on top of Windows built-in Defender. You don't need anything else."

    https://www.malwarebytes.com/

At the end of the day, with some responsible Internet use you shouldn't need any Anti-Virus software, but some of the older folks might get caught out by otherwise obvious red flags.

    Hope this helps.

  • One benefit of this is that, if you have the Bitdefender Central app on your phone, or you check the web console, you can get notifications of when people are trying to infect their computer. If you are the go-to family IT person, this can be helpful.

(In saying that, I am sure that the other vendors do this too as well. Just not sure to what extent!)
