Was looking at spending all my points before jumping ship from Telstra and found that the Kindle Paperwhite was discounted on the Telstra Reward store.
Just fell short of the 56,000 points to score it for $24 so I used this deal to get 5,000 points instantly with out any need for confirmation.
Pretty cheap even with less amount of points, like 28,000 points + $108. Cheapest I’ve see it retailing is about $150.

Mine works fine and I left about 1.5 years ago. Can even get discounted movie tickets.

@Spanglish: I had never been with Telstra direct before but I still had a Telstra account through Boost.
Not with Boost at the moment and bought a kindle just a few weeks back using Telstra reward points which i got through the $2 for 2 months deal.

How to get Telstra Plus bonus points when you recycle
Take your eligible device to any Telstra store and drop it into the recycle box.
Scan the QR code on the recycle box. Proceed to the Bring back bonus form via the 'Claim points' button.
You'll be prompted to sign in or join Telstra Plus, then complete and submit the form.
You’ll receive an email confirming that 5,000 Telstra Plus bonus points have been added to your account.

I think this is back up to 80k points, or $180 +20K points, no longer a good deal.
