    Very tempted , very
but i think i might hold out maybe for the 23 Ultra or the 24Ultra as i have the 21 Ultra already

    • +1

Would definitely agree. Moved from the S21U to S22U and apart from the camera I notice next to no change. Good price but.

    • I'm holding on for s30 ultra

      • And I s99 ultra

        • Can’t wait for the new S99 Ultra Pro Note Edge Max with 44GB of RAM.

          • @ALBastru: did you mean 44TB?

            • +1

@dan0909: Nah, man. 44GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, sufficient to record 15k videos.

    • another main difference between s22u and s21u is stylus vs no stylus pen

    • Its never worth to jump within 24month, unless you can sell the old device for good price plus massive discount on new, which is usually closer to next release. I always skip two or three generations.

Coming from an S10, is this worth it compared to the S21FE deals floating around at the moment. Reading about the battery life and the OS being sluggy is what is putting me off jumping on the 21FE. Or is the fact it is the Ultra the main factor in battery life?

    • +2

I personally think you'll only really hear about negatives with such devices, my S22U with heavy use is no different to any other phone I've had.

People just look for faults…. Or read too much into benchmarks thinking that it effects more than 1% of users….

Regardless, it's not hard to charge it occasionally, and a quick fast charge from say 30-50% to 80% takes next to no time at all.

OS sluggy? That's odd. Latest Android update here, one of the first devices to receive it OTA, no complaints. - sorry you mean S21FE for that

    • Upgraded from a S10 5G to this exact model, loving it.
I was concerned about battery life and speed, but even on my heavy use days, I’ve got plenty of battery left unlike my S10 that is dead by 3pm on those similar days.
As for speed, absolutely no issues, and a massive upgrade from the S10.

My only negatives were the thickness (I’m more and more adapting to it, and even enjoying it in terms of ergonomics with a slim case), and the other thing I miss dearly is the headphone jack, but it’s not like you have many options any more..

Loving the x10 optical zoom too!

    • I'm literally looking for S10's myself as it was the last Samsung flagship (i'm aware of) without 5G and with a headphone jack + microSD card expansion slot

Same price for Westpac Rewards on Samsung website. Better service to buy it off Telstra i guess.

  • Can I ask jbhifi to price match this one?

    • Yes, you can ask..

      • Thank you. Gonna go to the store soon.

        • I bought 512GB in Sept with trade-in bonus at jbhi.
Working hard on $1849 - $350 (trade-in bonus) - $80 oppo Reno = $1419 (then use 13 gift $100 cards, was lucky that 10% at that time, the rest was paid by cash)

This time there are plenty of gift cards on sale, depends on your luck 😜

maximum is 15% off at Coles (tomorrow 23/11)
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/737790

10% off at Aldi (tomorrow 23/11)
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/735146

          10% off at Woolworths
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/738850

          Good luck!

          • @lai: Wow~~ Thank you for your information. Gonna try my luck with coles.

          • @lai: Do you know when their will be a trade in bonus again at Jb Hi Fi?

The 256gb needs to go down more, was for 1,199.30 in aug.

    • Paid $477 for the 256gb on Monday by price matching Officeworks catalogue promo and then applying the JB HiFi $1000 credit for porting in to Telstra on the $69.

Also price-matched HN for the LED Samsung Case at $48 https://www.harveynorman.com.au/samsung-galaxy-s22-ultra-sma…

Downside is locked in for 24 months but I was upgrading from an S10 out of contract for a long time so pretty happy anyway.

    • when was it 1193.30???

        purchased from Education store, 10-Aug

        • not everyone has the privilege to buy from there. Wonder if you still can tax deduct for purchases from Edu store.

  • Is it locked to Telstra network?

    • nope.

    • I spoke with Telstra support today and they confirmed all devices they sell are locked to Telstra network. There's an $80 fee to unlock within 6 months of purchase and they take 5-8 business days for the unlock process to complete.

  • This or the pixel pro 7 512 gb, price match with jb hifi $1347, + $300 google credit + 3% google one cashback credit.

Just an update, I have just got price beat from ow. $1187(128gb).

    • damn, no stock in VIC OW

    • Can you share an image of the receipt please?

    • My local OW refused on the basis of it only being available to Telstra members. I even offered to show my phone bill cos I am actually with Telstra, but no dice.

  • Does jbhifi only price match with physical stores like ow? I just asked a jbhifi store staff today and be told they are not price matching telstra or amazon.

    • that is weird, doesn't telstra have physical stores?

    • Got price match done today and also used Coles 15% off cards. See my post further below for copy of receipt if that helps

  • New low price every day this week… will hold out until Friday and hopefully the 256gb will be under $1300.

    • hopefully JB does the bonus trade in offer again

  • Meh! As others have mentioned this price is nothing special. Its been this price or cheaper many months back.Probably be able to get S23 ultra for this price during pre-order or soon after. Will pass.

    • Sadly have to agree. S23 will probably have pre-order bonuses too.

Got S22 Ultra Phantom Black 512 GB for $1316 from JB HiFi - Price matched to Telstra and used Gift Cards from coles thats another 15% off

1649 Price matched to 1549 and further 15% off (Used about 42 Gift Cards combination of $30 and $50) so paid $1316

Receipt attached here…actual receipt is over 2 meters long as it has details of all 42 cards

  • JB Werribee and Hoppers Crossing both refused first and now online chat too

    • Did you manage to price match?

      • Nope!

        • bugger i was about to head there. Telstra website asking for ID check even for outright purchase?

        • Price matched. Just got to have a Telstra plan . I have one but they didn't check.

  • My experience with price matching:

    • JB online chat refused
    • Officeworks in store refused
    • JB in store agreed, just asked if I was with Telstra but didn't ask to see a phone bill or anything (FWIW I actually am with them)

Not dedicated enough to buy Coles gift cards, but I get 5% off JB online gift cards through my employee benefits program so I ended up paying $1329.05 for the 256GB model

  • Looking forward to using this phone, as I just picked up the 256GB model.

Do NOT however by any means get the Sprout Samsung S22 Ultra Tempered Glass screen protector! They have a thinner glass where the thumb print is, which is SUPER visible!

Just got OW to price match (and beat by 5%) the 256gb model. Thanks heaps for this!

    • your lucky as they never price matched it for me but Samsung store price matched it for me.

      • What was their reason for not price matching?
