Yeah nah I wouldn't buy it at this price, there were a few on sale for much less than that during their last warehouse sale.

    • +5

Agreed, plus this chair is worse than the usual suspects.

      • What do you mean?

    • +1

I missed out on the warehouse sale. Do they sell any Embody and Aerons during the sale?

      • +1

Yes, two full aisles. And also a few cosm, got one this year

        • How much were they going for?

          • +3

@SneezyTang: can't remember exactly but mirra 2 can be as low as 500, and aeron/embody still above 1k mark. AFAIK, all tagged price are negotiable

            • +6

@slimsnorlax: what sales are you guys talking about? i have not seen a deal for such a sale.

              • @aec: Living Edge warehouse sale, once a year, usually a weekend in May(July this year). In warehouse only, they will send newsletter before the sale.

    • How much and when was that?

    • +13

Bet this bloke drives a Camry

      • +3

        Nah Holden astra

      • +2

Camry is actually a very good car. Not sure why you are blaming it.

But you'd spend over $1,200 on a laptop? You know you can get them for less than $200 right?

    • +2

Typical philistine probably thinking some Costco massage chair is the pinnacle of comfort.

    • +2

I agree $1300 is a lot and too much for me, but if you are sitting on the same chair for work several days a week it is going to take more than $100 for decent comfort and back support. There is quite a bit of variation among chairs.

    • $1300 for a chair is better than back damage few decades down the line.

  • +2

This chair (brand) gave me ischial bursitis, a better version of this chair is in our office. I have no idea what's so special about it. Go for it if you think it's a deal. I normally post stuff that I buy lol

    • Suffering with the exact same conditon! And I have had a Herman Miller chair for the last five years

      • It took me two years to finally be able to sit 😂

I bought a standing desk (Desky) in the beginning of COVID-19, Jan2020.

        Standing more, sitting less.

You'd be surprised I have an IKEA Markus and their 10$ memory foam cushion 😂 Poor man's setup. I have not been to work for 2.5 years and I don't want to, I can't afford another episode of bursitis. Duck working from office.

Awesome price for a brand new HM

I have an Aeron, a Mira and an Embody but have never even seen this one before. What's it like? Any OzB hot takes?

    • +5

Don't bother. The chairs you've listed are better.

      • +2

Here's also the best office chair, and the best ergonomic chair.

        • The top rated chair in that list is currently available used for $75 if you're in Melbourne. I got one the other day and it seems good. I don't have much to compare it to though, my last chair I found next to a dumpster and carried it home on my bike.

          • @danwylie: Wonder if they would ship cheaply to nsw. Have sent them a message enquiring but not expecting anything super cheap.

Seems like a great price to try it if not mind the NAB colours!

    • +1

I think its their the best looking chair, and have no complaints with my high back version, its design philosophy is to be simple/elegant and has very little adjustment except up/down. Using a auto adjusting mechanism for the tilt

So its for a niche use case, and while comfortable, I think the Aeron is even more comfortable.

    • +2

Stick with the Aeron. Still the best out of the lot IMO.

      • Classic or remastered?

        • -1

One is 25 years old. The other one is like 2 or 3.

    • +1

I have Aeron, mirra 2 and now sitting on cosm, it’s now my favourite

      • Good to know!! I pulled the trigger on one

        • +1

this is definitely good price, I got mine at their warehouse sale and it's listed abt the same price as this(diff colour with fixed arm but some scratches)

        • +1

Chair arrived this morning, have to say that I’m really happy with the purchase so far. It really has you sitting in a good posture strait away..
Much better then a standard chair, and the gaming chair I tested in the $700-950 range.
And only comes in 4 pieces that only took a minute to put together

    • -1

Why didnt you try a leap 2?

  • +7

This is Herman Millers newest yet worst chair. It's good as a chair for people to use for quick tasks, but not a daily driver.

  • +3

Lfedj (life edge?) posts a deal for living edge, interesting coincidence?
No idea if this is a good deal or not, just found the above interesting

Feels great when sitting in it for a short while but can't comment on a full day of use.

  • +1

I have the COSM mid with leaf arms.

Very comfortable chair for all day use, and is a simple one lever mechanism.

Happy to answer any questions, I purchased for over $2k last year, so this is a very very good price imo.

    • How is it for lounging in?

      • you can slouch down into it, but like most ergo chairs it's no lounge chair.

        • How stiff is the leaf arm frame?

          • @abuch47: The arm has some small give where you can flex it slightly, but they do stay in place and don't have any adjustable movement.
The mesh is surprisingly softish - it wont chafe skin. Quite cushiony.

            • @Andrewskates: I have an aeron classic B which is not half bad for lounging in but the cosm sounds better

  • +1

    Here I'm with a $5 Officeworks chair…

    • I'm here with a $149 which I thought was fancy.

      • +2

Thanks to rapid inflation, your $149 chair is now worth $1.3k.

        • +9

Thanks, I will now proceed to sell my chair on Gumtree.

          $1300 Kmart Ergonomic Gaming Chair.

          • @Zackeroo: Lol guys, made my day

            • @mrgeckoz: Lol I've been having a terrible day so I'm glad I managed to make someone smile :)

              • @Zackeroo: Half the fun of Ozbargain is reading the comments section!

            • @mrgeckoz: Mine too lol

    • What is dead can never die

  • +2

I have this with leaf arm, best chair ever. I suggest try it first before purchasing, not all people like this chair

  • if you have this type of budget, must go with a used Aeron than this brand new HM chair with little adjustment

  • +3

Best timing! Bought 6 for our new Ikea dining table.

    • Matching build quality!

  • +1

I personally didn’t find this very comfortable. Felt very flimsy. If you’re in this price range I’d recommend a Steele Case.

  • If I'd have this kind of money to buy a chair I'd get a Stressless Recliner and just quit :D

  • +1

How is this compared to the embody?

  • The embody the goat?

  • Excellent chair.

  • +1

Bought the Aeron remastered $1,690 last Jan,now it is $2,490.

    Wish I bought 10.

    • Pobman still saving.

    • +1

If you got 10 you would get a good discount.

      • Probably won't be $1690 anymore though

    • Lol to think a chair is an asset that appreciates, what world are we living in. Take me back 10, 20 years please, sigh.

  • +2

Have this in meeting room and Aero at desk. Very comfy if you only sitting in it for a short amount of time. It's lacking all sorts of adjustments and the firmness to support a good posture. If you want something to sit your ass for more than 3 hours a day, then I would say even a gaming chair is better.

  • Noob question - but what makes something like an Aeron so good?

    • +2

Mesh seat pan so your farts go straight through

      • True with the gaseous "PFFT" variety, but the "PLOP"s won't go through largely.

    • Ergonomics and adjustment for ultimate comfort

  • Ah, another thing of note, this is the mid height back version. The full height back version is definitely more comfortable than this version.

  • I am only earning the average OzB wage of $90K so I can't afford this chair. Sorry bum, you need to stick with the ErgoDuke Ultra-Flex…sigh…

    • Looks at my ErgoDuke Ultra-flex…

  • Herman Miller chairs are awesome chairs. I manged to picked up couple from my office recently when they shut down a branch & honored for employees. Personally if I spend this much money to a chair, I have to re-think but well worth for each $.

  • +2

We have these at work and I prefer the much cheaper chairs. They don't have much movement up and down, maybe 10cm. When you lower it to the lowest setting (which seems quite high) it squeaks like crazy. The armrests move very easily, so if you try adjusting yourself in the seat and accidentally push on the armrest they will slip outwards (I mean who would want their armrest facing outward at 45 degrees anyway?). Just a over complicated chair with not many pros for my liking.

  • +2

Thanks for sharing, placed an order for one.

  • The Apple of office chairs?

  • Herman Miller have a 12 year warranty on the Aeron which is valid for up to 3 moves.

However, how many farts are the chairs warranted for against smells, if at all? PFFT!

Also, the charcoal seems like the best buy as charcoal gets rid of smells and odors?

  • Seems like a 1500% profit margin. Wow what a deal for the company and not the people who actually made it.

  • For people looking for used HM chairs, check this.

They have the Aeron size C for $3075, quite a bargain.

  • so is there a way to try them? i dont want to spend 1000+ and its bad

what is the difference between this and my 300 dollar gaming chair?
