    HODL!

    • +15

The longer the better, I'm HODL since AMD announcement is just around the corners.

      • Sorry if a silly question, but I am new to this page. What does HODL mean, please?

        • +1

          It means HOLD.

        • +5

          Hold On for Dear Life

        • +9

it's a mating call used to identify fellow professional autists

        • +2

There's a bit of a backstory, I'll give a short version of it. So GPU shortage during COVID happened.
You could not get stock anywhere and prices went crazy high + scalpers and miners were buying all the cards.
The best advice gamer's after cards were being given was just do not buy now just wait.
In the past same thing happened during crypto crashes people on the forums would advice not to panic sell and just to HOLD.
So every thread asking if someone should sell crypto now was filled with lazy posts just saying HOLD.
It got misspelled in these lazy posts HODL a few times eventually by some high profile crypto shitlords.
Which then became a popular deliberate misspelling kind of like referring to stocks as STONKS on wallstreet bets etc.

    • It's under $600USD lol

  • Probs add the $63 delivery fee in.

    • +10

If you have Prime then delivery is free anyway.

  • -1

Won't there be import fees and only 4 instock

Should be Amazon Us in title also

    • +2

I don't know how to list it. It's on Amazon au, but comes from Amazon us, as noted in description.

I don't see why there would be import fees. You would be buying on Amazon AU.

      • +4

There are no import fees, tax is already calculated in the price you pay.

        • +3

Are you sure? After you buy the item and go into order details is says "$1211.55" "import fees deposit included".

          • +2

@videoman: Weird when I get to check out it just shows the total which is the price listed above.

          • +1

@videoman: There is no import fee added onto the price you pay. You pay 909.78 if you have prime.

          • +4

@videoman: it says you paid $900 though not 1200?

    • +1

Is there a chance the track could bend?

      • +3

Not on your life, my Hindu friend.

  • +1

How would the warranty be ?

    • +2

Amazon are good for warranty. It will be covered by Amazon US though. So it will have to be returned to the US. Amazon will provide the shipping.

      • +3

The last time I had to RMA a GPU to Amazon US, they only paid part of the shipping as they have a reimbursement cap that isn’t enough to cover it fully.

        • +2

You need to ask them if they will reimburse you the cost at a later date. I did it recently when I sent back a hard drive to Amazon UK. I sent them the Australia post receipt after they received the item back and they refunded me the whole shipping cost.

        • +1

Oh fair enough. Last time I had a return (ram) from the US they just gave me a shipping label.

  • Delivery in December?

    • FREE International delivery (for Prime members): November 11 - 20

  • Good price! But hodl

  • Back to normal pricing

    • +3

Gotta be pretty close, but I don't think it's quite there yet.

It's not AMD's top flagship card (that's the RX 6950 XT, right?) and it's almost at the end of it's gen (next gen announced and releasing in less than a month) so it may still be a bit high (I haven't actually dug into the historical data).

Hardware Unboxed says it competes very closely with RTX 3080 in terms of performance: https://youtu.be/maqLX05hMuQ?t=566

Obviously a lot better bang for your buck than the RTX 4090.

      • +2

This smokes the 3080, it competes with the 3090 for rasterization

You could buy this card and be happy with it for 3-4 years while ray tracing matures and becomes more mainstream.

  • +2

so tempted to get this already.
but will wait for the launch of the 7000 series first. then get a cheaper one like this.

  • +6

    I just want a 6700/3070 for $400ish.

    • +7

Feels, when I got my 1070Ti for $450. Those were the days of value.

  • +2

Gonna hodl longer (no urgent need) but dam great price

    • More tempt it is, more potential it will drop.

  • +1

    you, me, 200!

  • I’m never going to flip my 6900xt with prices falling so much!

    • +5

They're not going up again mate. Sell now or just enjoy your card. It's a great GPU.

    • +3

Pm, I have $500, cash ready.

  • Damn sleep got me on this one

  • Wasn't the 6050 xt deal for $1k better anyway.

Only $100 for the top of the line!

Edit oh it's $1070ish. Hmm not sure if it's worth the premium then.

  • Regardless this is a decent price not a big big bargain since next gen and is here so soon, but the 16vram is the shiny part here

  • +1

Back in stock, says there is 2 left.

  • +2

Back in stock. $170 cheaper than the MSI 6950XT for only up to a 5% loss in some games and 10-20% less power draw. So I got one! Essentially only saved $90 for HODLing for 3 months lol. I see Local stock maybe going to $800 eventually after the next release but that's about it. Everything else in life is going up.

  • Is it a waste to get this if I have a monitor from a few years ago that only has a gsync module? So it doesnt support freesync?

  • The price history graph for this card over the last 12 months is pretty crazy - https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B08R81J62G

  • Only just saw this, lucky I guess there was 1 left. Was going to HODL for 7000 series but I'm guessing pricing will be stupid. This should do me nicely for quite a few years for sim racing titles only.

  • +1

Why does it still say "Only 1 left in stock!" even after so many including myself have purchased one? Surely this is a deceptive sales tactic..

    • Now there is 2 left is stock…. either a bunch of people are regularly cancelling orders or they are drip feeding stock to drive artificial scarcity.

      • yeah suss, makes me think prices are gonna come down even harder soon

  • If I pull the trigger.. am I going to regret it in the next weekish after the rdna3 release? super tempted but at this stage I dont even know what I would be using it to play being mostly a high refresh rate 1080p fps player. maybe I just have FOMO

    • not entirely sure how amazons return for expensive items works but could you just buy it and wait for rdna3 then return unopened? or keep it after that?

    • Prices, oddly enough, haven't moved much since the following events:

      1. Ethereum merger
      2. NVIDIA announcement and release of the RTX 4090
      3. PC and PC parts sales have tanked this quarter

Given that the RRP of the RTX 4090 FE is 2,959 AUD, it's seems as though the next generation of GPUs will get a significant hike across the board. Perhaps that's helping to keep the price of the current gen from falling through the floor.

And oh, the shockingly bad exchange rate probably isn't helping either

      • And Computer shop markup greed in Australia.

  • I just got off of Amazon Live Chat, the rep told me he will make a note for a free return if I change my mind within 30 days. He also said the item can be opened so i might even squeeze some free gaming out of it too until RDNA3 hits!

  • +1

Legend! I bought my 6800xt off of Amazon 3 weeks ago at 920, I thought it was a bargain at the time. I saw this deal, returned my 6800xt, and got myself a free upgrade.

  • Still, 3 left, I just bought one. Free delivery with prime by November 4th.

  • Seems to be available again with “only 2 left in stock”

  • It never went out of stock ever wince the ad has gone up. Had anyone had theirs shipped yet?

    • It's been fluctuating between $1,449.00 and $909.78, hence the deal was marked as expired. Currently back to $1,449 but sold and fulfilled by a 3rd party.

      • Ah I see, when I commented it was still at $909 but I see it has gone up now. Hoping to have it shipped soon…

    • Nada, I just asked Amazon customer support to change my priority shipping to free shipping. I'm guessing they're waiting for stock to come.

  • back in stock at $909.78

  • +1

Back in stock again.. messaged these guys 2 days ago when the price went up to $1500 and they said they couldn't do the $909 price at the moment… Boy that changed fast.

    • +2

very nice. I would still wait another 5 days to see what AMDs new gen has to offer. Use that amazon offer to push those facebook marketplace prices down. There are still way to many offers above $1000.
So glad i sold my 6900xt for $1700 about 6 months ago, due to a lack of games that i need to play on PC. Got a series X and gamepass instead and will finally buy back in.

  • +1

I bought this and they sent me a box of face masks. No joke. Pink face masks!

    • Better than a black leather jacket

    • +1

Same issue here, received a packet of 50 Pink Face masks!

    • Yikes. Feel lucky. Ordered on 25 Oct and correct GPU arrived on 1 Nov, ahead of 5 Nov estimated delivery date.

How has Amazon responded once you reported this?

      • I guess if you ordered an RTX card you got lime green face masks :P

      • +1

The guy i chatted to said he would make sure it gets investigated. Sent the return today. So hopefully not long and i will get a refund. Have ordered again which is a little annoying as its not going to arrive for some time now and had to ship to my in-laws house as we are going to be there over xmas. Was hoping to build a new PC end of this month.

        • Do you recall where your shipment originated from? My gpu came from Texas. Curious if these pink mask shipments are coming from the same warehouse.

    • +1

Same here did you have difficulty getting a refund?

  • Tbh hodling is pathetic in most situations, if u have the cash just get it. Here i would hodl until absolute lowest price.

  • will this work with a b450m-ds3h motherboard? 750w psu enough?

    • Yes and yes. You will be limited to PCI-e 3.0 but that will probably be a small reduction in performance, say 5-10% depending on the game and frame rate. Make sure your case can accommodate this GPU because it's 32cm long.

  • Have anyone received their GPU yet? It feels like they really don't want to send them.

    • It says estimated mid Dec to early Jan…

    • Ordered on 25 Oct when the delivery estimate was 5 Nov, it arrived this last Tuesday (1 Nov) a bit early.

      • Weird because I paid for priority shipping and ordered it on 24th, still haven’t been shipped yet.

        • @zlan19 Everything about this Amazon listing has been a bit weird. If you go directly to the US website you cannot find this product being sold at a USD price that makes sense for the AUD price we are getting.

And this item has gone out of stock and then come back in stock about 8 times since this deal first appeared, often each time the estimated delivery window being different. I passed when it was December, but then it sold out, came back about 12 hours later the window was early November. That's when I bought but think it has been in stock and December mostly since. Mysteries of the Amazon.

          • -1

@NGHTCRWLR: I must’ve contacted them 3 times about it now, they also sent me an email about payment failure a week ago which never happened before. It seems like they really don’t wanna sell them at this price, glad you got yours.

  • Delivers December. Ill be in uk then. Can this be delivered to the uk?

    • order from amazon.co.uk if you want it delivered to UK

  • Just had it in my cart to buy and seems to of gone out of stock again.

  • I ordered 23 Oct finally got shipping details today. The suspense is killing me. I've been hanging out for a new gpu for about a year now

    • Mine was ordered on 1st Nov and the progress on the order has been very slow. Best of luck to all who ordered. I was late to the show but also hope to get the genuine item and not some swapped out pink masks.

      • I ordered 31st October and got a shipping time reduced lastnight. Dec 5-29 and is now Nov22 - Dec 15.

Fingers crossed this deal gets honoured because it's not available for a couple days now.

    • As in yours has been shipped or you only just got an estimate?

      • Order date was 1st Nov, with estimated delivery in Dec. Checking today its now estimated as arriving between Nov 22th and 28th, although it hasn't yet been posted
