  • Ahh goddamnit I just bought a V8 for the same price from BigW, with less attachments.

    • did you pay RRP or get it on sale?

      • It was $496.90 delivered, but it only has 3 of the main attachments.
        - Motorbar cleaner head
        - Hair screw tool
        - Combination tool.

The OP's one looks like it has 7 attachments.

  • Hrmm v10 any good for hardwoods?

    • +16

I would expect for $699 it should be good for anything.

    • +3

Yeah, roller head is excellent and doesn't mark them

    • +3

yes, very good. We use it for whole house.
you can swap the head out with the carpet one and vice versa too.
good for just about any flooring

      • hi Chenzo,

        how's the battery?

        • +6

Non stop vacuuming of our entire house for about 35 minutes and the battery is still good for more. I do all the carpeted areas first with the carpet head and then empty the bin and swap to the normal head for the rest.
I can't recall a time where the battery has run out on the v10
Have had it for a few years too.

      • So which model is ok for hardwood? Just something 'spinning' which will lift up kitty hair, crumbs and dust? Can you get away with a cheaper model as long as it has spinny head?

    • +3

I don't think it comes with the fluffy roller head which is by far the best option for timber floors.

    • +1

If you want the V10, I highly recommend the soft fluffy head which is dedicated for hardfloors, consumes less power (so more run time), doesn't flick stuff around, and essentially is sweeping and vacuuming at the same time. Downside its an extra $149 in the website but worth the cleaning experience and hassle.

  • +3

Thank you for the sharing. I bought the V15 from Myer $1399 with 11% cash back few day ago. It’s still in transit and I decided to return it now lol. So I have already bought another one with this deal on Dyson website plus 12% cash back. It only cost me $1055 for the V15!!!! Big discounted :)))

    • Wow congrats :) I actually purchased a V7 advanced earlier today. Thanks to @Anthropomorphised who confirmed it's just a Dyson V8 but without the wall dock. I paid $404.10 @ TGG using discounted Ultimate Home vouchers. It's a special order or discontinued line so have to buy in store.

      • What was the price prior to using Ultimate Home vouchers?

        • It was $449 on the Goodguys website which I was able to negotiate 10% off because I mentioned there was a promo on last night. I think they said this product wasn't eligible however they gave it to me anyways.

    • +2

Are you sure that the Cashrewards cashback will work here given a promo code is being used?

    • +1

The code isn’t listed on CR - I doubt the cashback will be paid.

    • does cashback work when you use a discount code?
If it does, I'll pull the trigger too.

      • -1

I bought and got cashback confirmed in my email.

        • +1

That just means it's been tracked. The ultimate test is whether it gets accepted or rejected by Dyson i.e. whether they ultimately pay a commission to CR. Given that you're using a code that's not listed then there's a significant risk it will be rejected.

  • I might wait for a good deal on the V16

    • +33

Get two V8 instead, cheaper that way.

      • His & Hers?

        Good idea…

    • More power, more long time G5 will be come.

  • +1

For the V15 version, Discount code is MOOREV15

Don’t forget 12% cash back from CashReward.

    • +1

MOOREV15 brings price down to $1,299.00 and not $1,199 as op has mentioned. Can someone confirm?

      • +9

I'm guessing you tried applying MOOREDYSON first and when that didn't work you tried MOOREV15 from the comments here.

Trying to apply MOOREDYSON will actually revert the V15 back to its $1,499 RRP so then when you apply the MOOREV15 for $200 off you end up at $1,299

What you need to do is add the V15 to your cart and apply only MOOREV15 to get to $1,199.

    • I bought it by afterpay, but cashrewards did not track as soon as, is it normal?

      • +1

Yes it is normal. Check back tomorrow or the following day.

        • thank you.

      • +1

Considering it's a coupon code not listed on CR, I wouldn't be expecting the cashback to work

@yoshi678: You may not be eligible for Cashback:

              • +4

@yoshi678: Pending does not mean approved.
Good luck - I hope you get the cashback anyway.

    • How have you confirmed that this is eligible for Cashrewards cashback? This promo code isnt't listed on CR.

      • -4

Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link and Dyson V15 Detect Absolute 12%

  • Anyone knows when this deal expires?

  • Is this V15 any good for carpet?

    • +2

      Yes it is.

I've owned the v15 for a year now and use it on carpet often

  • +1

nothing beats $249 v7 eBay deal

does the job, hard floor or carpet.

    • This still active? Got a link?

      • +1

        sorry mate long gawn

was on for a solid part of the day when was on

    • Does the higher number, imply the better product?

      • going from v6 to v7 was a few quality of life improvements, v7 to v8 increased suction power and run time, after that I didn't care enough for how much they were asking for those extra improvements.

        • I specifically want that head which spins, I assume it helps - I've got hardwood floors and that's where I need it most)

          • @hamwhisperer: All the heads spin. It's the main Dyson selling point.

Edit: I'm sorry, I mean the roller spins. Do you mean that part of the head? Or do you mean the head attachment can rotate independently in many directions from the shaft?

            • @NoApostrophePlurals: Just the little foam looking thing in the vacuum head on the floor that spins forwards pulling stuff in.

It was quite soft and looks like it would work pretty well on floors.

          • @hamwhisperer: even V6 came with a spinning head.

            • @shabaka: Even my ancient DC35 I just replaced had a spinning head.

But it would be absolutely wedged with dog hair.
The anti tangle design on these later ones are godly.

            • @shabaka: So the bigger numbers are just more power, / weight, battery times, maybe attachments?

      • yes all except the V12 which ruined that system. V12 is a V10 motor with V15 interface, just smaller and button based instead of trigger

  • Why is Amazon V11 only $428, is that diff version ?

  • Oh sorry, $428 Amazon was a click bait. It’s a Dreame v11, even I searched Dyson…

    • There's your answer lol. Amazon always shows up similarly named items, hence why so many brands like xiaomi etc copy the naming systems

      Same happens with robot vacs

  • Dyson V15 Detect Absolute or the Samsung Bespoke Jet Elite Extra for around $1K (via Samsung Education Store)???

    • +6

There five main things you should research when comparing vacuums:
      1. Air watts suction, for instance v15 is 230 and Samsung 210
      2. Attachment utilisation on different floor surfaces
      3. HEPA filter efficiency, and also cost of replacement as it is a consumable
      4. Warranty years
      5. Operating time on high power

    • +1

I was looking at both and chose samsung only because i could get it through work cheaper. Cost me $870 after using $50 samsung voucher and samsung credit.

  • +7

Now if we could just get a discount on the $900 air wrap the girlfriend wants for christmas.

  • +1

    V10 @ $699 is the normal price now…
    Best value cordless vacuum!

    • And now come with motorbar.

    • A $699 cordless vacuum is considered best value?

  • Anyone know if JB Hi-Fi would price match? I havw vouchers I need to use.

    • why can't you just ask them given you have the vouchers!

    • no dice, just talked to jbhifi live chat minutes ago and they don't want to price match on v15

      • I called and got the same. They said they they would on some, but not all.

  • I'll bite when the CR team get into the office and confirm if the code is eligible for cashback

    • -2

Since you’ve alerted them to it they’ll decline. Well done champ.

    • same

    • Same, am doubtful though… @tightarse could you assist?

  • These still work well after a few years?

    • +1

Yes, just replace the battery every couple of years and it will be good as new

      • Ow! Didn't know the battery can be replaced. Good!

  • -4

Do people actually pay $1000+ for a cordless low quality vacuum?

    • +2

What high quality one would be your recommendation? Genuine question as my parents are looking for a new cordless vacuum.

    • I used one about 6 months ago and I found the 'spinning bit' in the head to be good.

The useful thing was the cordless aspect, you're more likely to clean if you can just grab the vacuum off a mounted spot on the wall, charged and good to go and then just quickly vac in 3 minutes.

The rigmarole of using a regular one makes it less enticing to use.

I also agree a 'real' vacuum would be a better product but it's that cordless convenience which encourages people to clean more.

  • can you use accessories from previous gen with newer models? I can't remember what model I have but it was from 2014/15 and the run time is only 20mins if that now. but we got a whole heap of accessories in that package.

    • My 2014 V8 didn’t fit 2019 V11. V11 fits V15, tested the attachments yesterday.

      • I think I have a V8 then. Is this new V8 the same or different? If it's different but can use the attachments I might just get that.

        • +1

I think they standardised attachments somewhere between 2014-19. But could be wrong and yours might fit. Take your wand to a store with display models and test it. I walked in and out no questions asked.

      • +1

V8 didnt exist in 2014, it came out in late 2015/2016. You might have a V6

  • +1

Which is better value for money? V10 or V15 Detect Absolute? Is V15 Detect Absolute way better than V10? Which is a better one for tiles?

    • V10 is the minimum power and run time to do the whole house, v15 is the strongest machine on the market currently, it is now down to your budget and what you want out of it. out of the box V15 has the fluffy head perfect for tiles, if you buy a v10, you will need to buy the fluffy head separately which is $149 on top.

  • Grabbed two of the v10s. Great value

  • +1

I still use v6 lol.. 7 yrs and going strong albeit I only do once a week :D

For carpet, which one is better value v10 or v15?
If v15 is noticeably better, its ok to pay extra I guess?

    • V15 would be better, I’m not sure $500 extra is worth it over the V10, just my Opinion …

    • I'm interested in this as well. Especially carpet performance and pet hair.

    • +2

Both are good for carpets, V10 already a massive improvement on your V6 which only had about 90 airwatts, vs v10 which had 150. V15 is 230.

  • +1

I want one of these but apt so small, no where to put the bastard >:(

    • +2

Houses are going to be discounted by 10% as per the RBA boss. No coupon code required.

      • +1

        Only 10%? Hah

      • +3

After going up 50% in the last 2 years? Not a good deal.

        • Well it's 20% but yeah no chance, I'm holding FIRM

  • +1

Recent choice mag comparison of high end stick Vacs, V15 came out on top. Roborock H7 ranked 5th and very good score of its RRP $899. They're about $550 now.
