Oh that's brilliant! Thanks for the heads up, it's great to have more markets & their products readily accessible.

  • Does one need to setup a whole separate Amazon.co.jp account? Or can you use your existing Amazon.com.au account?

      Login with same credentials

      • Admittedly this about a year ago but I had to create a new account. My account is originally a US one so could be related to that.

      • Hmmm they must've integrated Amazon Japan with the global accounts. Back in the old days before they banned shipping to Australia I had to create a separate account for Amazon.co.jp.

        • Yeah who knows. My US account worked fine on AU when it opened though things like wish lists and order history were kept separate. Not a huge deal that JP may require a different account for some.

      • I did not know this. So you can log into global Amazon's (JP/DE/UK) with the same account that you have on Amazon AU?

        • I don't recall ever trying UK or DE but just tried both and can sign in with my original account fine. No idea why I can't sign in to JP the same way.

          • @apsilon: I was expecting to hear from Profiteer, they seem to be successful logging into JP with AU account? Since they are replying to a comment specifying JP only.

        • Yes, that is correct. My Amazon.com (Amazon AU didn't exist back then) account was registered in May 2000 (first order).

A few years thereafter, I could login to Amazon UK/DE/JP with the same credentials. I don't recall registering for another account.

          Things may have changed.

          • @Profiteer: Ok. So the comment you replied to seems to be specifying "logging into Amazon JP, with Amazon AU account".
But you are saying above, that you successfully logged in to UK/DE/JP with your Amazon.com (US) account.

Sorry edited comment, I think I was making things unnecessarily complicated.

            • @harshbdmmaster718: When I login to my Amazon JP account I could see my name and mailing address in Australia i.e. it's the same address on my amazon.com and amazon.com.au account - I didn't have to do anything. I don't have a Japanese address.

              • @Profiteer: But you are logging in to Amazon JP with Amazon US credentials yes? Or are you saying your Amazon US and Amazon AU credentials (username) are the same?

                • @harshbdmmaster718: Correct. My Amazon login credentials is the same for any region.

                  • @Profiteer: Ok sorry for asking you so many questions. So since you created an account before Amazon AU.

Are you saying you only created your account with Amazon US (amazon.com), and never signed up through Amazon AU? So you have been signing into every global Amazon (AU/UK/DE/JP) with your original Amazon US account?

                    • @harshbdmmaster718: Correct. Registered once and I can use it everywhere ;)

                      • @Profiteer: Ooooohhhhh. It makes a lot of sense now. Thanks very much I now understand everything fully.

Interestingly the same person I know who has a Amazon JP account (created when they lived in Japan). Also has a old Amazon US account that they no longer have been using. And they also signed up to an Amazon AU account separately when Amazon opened here in Australia.

So they are in a similar position as you I guess, they could try signing into global (AU/UK/DE/JP) Amazon websites with their original Amazon US account, which I think also has their Australian address as default because they made it to buy stuff from Amazon US before Amazon AU was available.

Hopefully this thread of comments helps others understand it better as well.

                        • @harshbdmmaster718: Maybe they changed email username? Or perhaps they hit the register button instead of just login?

Hence it's treated as another account.

Whoa!!! :0 Time to import a million things from Japan again if true!

EDIT: Just tried buying something and it works. Take that Gerry Harvey!

    • What sort of things are you buying from the .JP site?

      • Waifu stuff

      • There are all sorts. But plenty of people will be happy about this because they now have access to "Japan only" products.
Sometimes this is just candy and processed type food or it could be some cool tech/beauty type product.

I had a quick look last night, but it is "Amazon" so there was a lot of products that are available in other countries which you have to sort through.

    Is this real?
Can I finally buy idol concert Blu-rays again?

    • "Can I finally buy idol concert Blu-rays again?"

      Is THIS real? lol.

I imagine you as one of those old fellas that are in the crowd yelling "Hai, Hai, Hai hai hai!".

  • THANKS, OP!!! So happy! :) Used to be using buyandship to ship things from amazon JP

  • Hey guys anyone here have any suggestions for Japan only products to look for deals on at Amazon JP?

I was hoping to find a certain keyboard that's only sold in Japan, but sadly they don't have the one I want as it's showing without a price.

I am interested in any recommendations.

  • No free shipping though :(

    • Of course not lol. Even when directly ordering from Amazon US shipping is always extra.

When you compare prices when ordering items on Amazon AU shipped from Amazon US, to directly ordering from Amazon US you will notice the Amazon AU prices have much higher prices for the same items because shipping and tax is included in the item price. So even when you get "free international shipping over $49 spend" you are paying for shipping and tax.
