  • Max $150 discount.

What's the best discount on eBay giftcards ATM? I see 3% at shopback

    • You have to pay with afterpay so gift card discounts would be less

      • Is the partial payment thing still working?

        • yes, just tried

      • Well I'm in need of gift cards anywayafterpay code isn't working on the item I wanted, anybody know the best place to get them ATM?

  • +3

Excuse the ignorance, but how do you pay with discount eBay gift cards if you are paying via Afterpay?

    • +4

Part pay most of the amount owing with gift cards, and use Afterpay for the remainder.

      • Oh right. Didn't know you could do that.
        Cheers.

    • I thought this is patched since the March after pay sale

      • +1

I have been told you can't pay in full via GCs (if you are using the AFPAYDAY code).

Could someone please confirm the minimum amount that needs to be channeled through AfterPay?

  • I think I'm going to regret posting this before I get it but Sony XM5 headphone (factory seconds) ~ $380

    • +10

Buy first, post second. Is the Ozbargain way.

      • +2

Buy first, wait until someone posts deal, post on their deal saying you bought 4 days prior. Seems to be the trend lately ;)

  • Is Dyson V10 Absolute Plus good price ?

    • I had quick look, it might be cheapest price ever.

      • I paid $616 for a refurb V10 animal so yes, I think it's a fantastic price. Being a clean freak this is one of the best things I own.

      • Cheap but prefer V8. V10 is too heavy and bulky try using it for ceilings all day

    • This listing doesn't have the new motorbar head. The previous sales did

      • It has it. It’s in the photos.

        • No it doesn't, this has the direct drive cleaner head, it is different to the motorbar.

        • The one that I linked comes with the Direct Drive Cleaner Head

If you want the one with the Motorbar Cleaner Head, here’s the link, but this one is listed at $999 from Dyson eBay

          • @BargainsGrabber: What's the difference? They look identical in the pics.

            • @evasive: There's a few comments about it in previous Dyson posts. The motorbar is the new anti tangle head which is the upgrade.
              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/713706

              • @Sammyboy: Doesn't look like it. I think it's just a rename. The anti-tangle bar has anti-tangle written all over it. None of these listings have that in the pictures, it is just all the same looking direct drive / Motorhead design.

                • @evasive: But it's not. Direct drive and Motorbar are different cleaner heads even though they look the same in the pics.

                • @evasive: So how can one tell the difference if they look and behave identical??

          • @BargainsGrabber: It's $799 on Dyson, with the Motorbar Cleaner Head.

            • @dandandan: Dyson website also has the V10 absolute + for $799 and unlike ebay it says 'in the box' Motorbar Cleaner head

    • +1

I've had mine since 2018 and the battery just died recently, so you're up for $70-80 (3rd party) to $160 (genuine) for a replacement in 3-4 years.

      • +1

Try giving Dyson a call - they are very good with warranties etc and may send you out a new battery.

        • I did a fair bit of research on it (although didn't raise a warranty claim) and despite James Dyson's claim that the battery on the V10 would last 25 years, the warranty on the battery is 2 years and there are a considerable number of experiences in a number of places online that Dyson are strict on that warranty.

I'll try raising a claim but my expectations are very low when I'm 2 years out of a 2 year warranty.

          • @Domingo: I'm in the same situation. Bought in May 2019 and V10 battery is appalling now. Maybe 20-30 seconds runtime at maximum and 2 minutes at medium after full overnight charges

I tried online chat yesterday to discuss, but no luck getting a battery sent. They stuck to the 2 year warranty line.

            • +1

              @Ivegottheskill: I got this guy:

              https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B09SH4VTXN

I don't believe that the capacity is really 2x the original one, but so far it seems pretty good (although I should try a full discharge on Max mode to see how long it lasts). My theory was even if it is crap, I'll open up the battery and replace the cells for cheaper than a genuine battery.

Alternatively, if it does remain decent I'll open up the original one and replace the cells in that. Just annoying that you need to unscrew the V10 battery, it isn't very plug and play.

          • @Domingo: Where did you see the claim about it lasting 25 years?

            • +1

@Ywhna: Whoops, misquoted it - he said 15 years:

“Fifteen years of daily use might get you down to 80% battery,” he said at a roundtable discussion with journalists after the New York City unveiling. He added: “But by then you’ll probably want to upgrade to our new model anyway.”

So need to pay with afterpay?

    • Fairly sure.. We ordered the Dyson and it only gave afterpay as the option. No biggie.

    ipad pro

Maybe worth waiting it out a bit more for apple event to see what iPad releases are announced

Thanks for the deal round up though BG!

  • Due for a new stick vac. Currently have the V6 and have had it for 3yrs now however pretty disappointed with it, and battery now only lasts 5mins.
How is the V10? Have also heard the Xiaomi's go alright? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/174591404494?epid=21053571806&ha… $$466.65.
    Thoughts?

    • +1

Make sure that the filters are clean. That can have a big impact on battery life

    • +3

And touch base with Dyson on the battery issue. They gave me a brand new battery for my V6 free of charge.

    • piggy backing off this comment, what is a good vacuum cleaner specifically for carpets?

    • I bought cheap $20-30 ebay replacement battery for my V6 and it's lasted about 3yrs so far (Using few times per week)

    • That's pretty normal now if your filter is a bit clogged and on max mode after a few years.

I also purchased a cheaper Chinese one off Amazon for about 60% of the price of a brand new one from Dyson, but unfortunately that died shortly after 6 months.

I now only buy the genuine ones from Dyson.

    • I was in a similar boat with the V6 (had it since 2015). My usage is 2-3 times a week so pretty heavy usage I would say. The original battery lasted 3 years which I then replaced the battery once with a genuine from Dyson for $85 (back in 2018). Battery lasted 3 years again so I took a chance and bought an aftermarket replacement off Amazon in 2021 for $31 that at first lasted almost twice as long as the original Dyson battery but dropped down to 10 mins after about 6 months and also found that the effort to hold down the trigger was significantly more and my hand would ache within a few minutes. I purchased a genuine Dyson V6 battery at the start of the year for $119 (50% inflation in just 4 years!) and this confirmed that pulling the trigger using the aftermarket battery was definitely hurting my hand as I no longer have this issue with the new genuine battery.

I keep wishing this V6 will die so I will have an excuse to buy a new model however for an almost 8 year old vacuum it is holding up amazingly.

    • My V6 battery died and bought genuine from Dyson. They told that new battery will have warranty of six months only. That battery also start to loose power now. Just bought Ecovacs N8 from previous deal for $428.40. Not used v6 since then. Its better to buy two Ecovacs for the price of one dyson for use in two story house and you don't to drag yourself with vacuum. Battery lasts for around two hours.

      Go the V10, I don't think you'll regret it.

$679 here is a cracking deal. I paid $719 a few months ago.

I also had a V6. It was still working fine but I got tired of the downsides: small bin with the messy emptying drama, constantly tangled head, noisy and inferior performance (suction, battery) compared to newer models, older connecting system with less options.

The V10 is a breath of fresh air and I'm glad I purchased it. Build quality is better and performance feels much more refined. Also managed to sell the V6 on eBay to get a few bucks back.

To my surprise I find the standard head tangles up significantly less on long hair than the V6. Likely to do with the larger diameter roller. I was going to purchase an anti tangle head separately, but now won't bother.

The biggest downside of the V10 over the V6 is the weight - not really a problem in use but you feel it when putting it in or out of its charging cradle, or any work where it's not sliding over a surface and needs to be suspended.

    • Mate just buy a battery off eBay or Amazon you will be fine for 1-2 years. Do a thorough clean of the heads and dust bin

  • Does this not apply to all ebay items?

EDIT: Never mind, it says "later today" i.e. not active yet right now.

Nice except that Afterpay is such as scam …

    • how so?

      • +1

        Buy now, regret later 👍

        • Ozbargain motto right there.

      • -1

        Eh my experience isn't great.

I had it set to auto-charge the CC at the set intervals. It took 3/4 payments no probs and then the 4th one "failed" and they hit me with the "late" fee.

I protested it and they said "system error sorry"…yeah I bet, more like "if the customer complains error". I let that one slide and the same thing happened a second time down the line, same response, refunded again and I told them to just close the account after that.

Maybe just bad luck but enough for me to avoid them.

    • +4

if by scam you mean easy trap for certain people to think it's the same as having an extra $1k in the bank to spend, then i guess…

  • y'know, all things considered jack doesn't really live at this one. seems like there are so many potential decent deals, you just gotta DYOR.

    • -5

Just like with covid vaccine. DYOR and see where you land

  • So how does it work? I don't have afterpay.
Do I need to create account with them first?

  • Which one to get, Samsung Galaxy A73 or the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE?

    • You would only consider purchasing the A73 over the S21 FE if battery life was the most important decision.

The S21 FE is better in most aspects.

  • +4

The Nintendo Switch OLED has been cheaper before at $399. In case anyone was wondering if this was a good enough deal.

    • I'm tempted to get another switch for splatoon 3 coming up. When does $399 usually occur?

  • So if you plan on buying the new Samsung fold/flip its cheaper to buy the s21 FE from here and trade it in at jbhifi than it is to just buy it.

  • What time does this junk start

    • +1

      10am

      • Thanks

It should be illegal to have any event ending with 'day' unless it is a public holiday…

ie, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Easter Day, Anzac Day are all OK.

But Telstra Day, Afterpay Day, Kogan Day are just not-so-clever marketing.

    • +3

You know what they say, opinions are like a%$3 holes…

    • Yep, how dare businesses have Birthday sales.

  • -1

Getting only $150 off on the $1199 iPad Pro 11 inch.

Edit: ok price has been updated here so that must be the max off.

  • Waiting for Amazon to price match switch

  • +2

Is there a 'hack' to bring down the total < $2,000 so I can use AfterPay?

    • use some GCs?

      • I've thought of that too but don't want to risk buying the GC and not work. :(

        • I just used 3 x 150 + 1 x 100 GC for purchasing Dyson.
          Works with today's promo code.

          • @AstonSingh: I assume the Dyson is under $2k?

I can't select Afterpay because my TV costs $2.2k

  • Try to order the dyson using afterpay, received this message:

"Sorry, your order amount is too high
    $600.00 Available to spend"

Anything else I can do here?

    • +2

buy egift cards and partially pay with them

    • I have the same issue. I’ve never used AP before, so my limit is $600. I want to buy the Dyson

      • As suggested by cathole, I bought a $100 ebay gift card, paid the rest via afterpay. Worked fine.

  • Does this Dyson V10 has the updated anti tangle motor bar?

I am so confused with the Dyson line up. If I am buying it, I want the anti tangle thing!

    Can someone please confirm?

    • +1

Detailed picture have old moterhead hence I didn't pull the trigger, they seem to change price for motor bar one to 999 from 799.

    • +2

Seems to be the old direct drive. I spoke to a Dyson consultant this morning via phone.

  • Do Afterpay perform a credit check when you make a purchase using their service? Tia

  • +8

Confirmed with a Dyson consultant just now (via phone) that the V10 absolute+ listing is NOT the new motorbar anti-tangle head. It's the old direct drive head as per the listing.

  • Switch white is out of stock already?!! I was waiting here to buy one ;_; I guess they only had a handful available

  • Can anyone recommend a decent modem router for FTTB NBN?

    • You meant FTTP?

You need a router, not a modem and these don't need authentication. I'd recommend mesh wifi routers (e.g. Google Nest Wifi, Eero, Netgear Orbi) if you have a large / multi-storey homes.

      • FTTB - Fibre to the building. Moving to an apartment, out of a home. Pretty sure I require a modem and a router.

        • If the building has TPG FTTB it's cheaper than NBN FTTB and you get min 100/40 down/up, also a wifi6 modem/router is provided.

Often TPG or iiNET (who use the TPG infra) offer first 3 months free.

          • @Grish: Unfortunately the building does not support TPG FTTB.

Signed up to one month free trial with Aussie broadband, just need a suitable compatible modem router combo.
