128GB White: out of stock at Amazon; seems to be in stock at JB HiFi online and at many of their stores.
128GB Purple: in stock at Amazon with no mention of limited quantity; was in stock at JB HiFi earlier, but gone now.
128GB other colors are at RRP on Amazon, not on JB HiFi at all.

64GB - $749 for white, red, black, green on Amazon.

Been watching these for a while, hoping for anything around 20% off. Grabbed one for myself and my partner when I saw 26% discount. I am pretty sure that $799 is a new low for the 128GB iPhone 12 Mini.

Yes, the 13 is out. Yes, the 14 is coming. But $799 is a pretty good price.

Update 1: 128GB white now out of stock on Amazon. Go to JB HiFi for white.

Update 2 (26 May at 10:30am AEST):
Amazon - only remaining deal is white 128GB @ $799, but only for pre-order. All others back to RRP.
JB HiFi - only remaining deal is white 128GB @ $799, no other 12 Mini's listed. Available for order with $6 delivery, and limited stock in (mainly regional) stores.

  • This or 13 mini?

    • +7

13 mini has longer battery life.

    • +4

All I can share is my thinking. I would have paid $120 more for a 13 Mini (the difference in RRP), but this price was too good to refuse. I figured I could be waiting a long time for a 13 mini at a 20%+ discount, particularly as supply seems patchy. Amazon is out of stock of 13 Mini 128GB in all colours. My partner and I both needed new phones so I pulled the trigger on these.

    • +2

Its a big saving though, depends how much you need a marginal bump in performance, and maybe 1 hr extra battery life. Screen on the 12 goes to 625 nits, 13 is 800 nits. Better camera. Price diff being $400 is too big to overlook. Thats 50% more than the 12 mini price.

    • I have the purple 12 mini 128 and love it. When choosing the JB rep referred to the 13 as the 12.5. Make of that what you will

  • IPhone 13 mini will get a discount when iPhone 14 comes out.

Think the 12 dropped US$130 when the 13 came out.

So probably from the current $1199 to like $999 which is $200 more expensive but will need time machine to late Sep 22 to be sure.

    • +1

Don’t expect discounting this time round. The mini model is being dropped from the 14 lineup.

      • +1

If you drop 13 by $200 from $1399 to $1199 and try to sell the mini for $1199? The math might be right but it is way short on common sense.

Long as there is demand they will continue to make the mini. Not continue to make 13 mini to get as much profit as possible would just be spending money supporting the orphan minis.

      • Pretty sure it's being dropped because it's not popular as opposed to being too popular

  • +2

I got the 128gb last August during Telstra day for $769 (64GB was $699). Crazy to think that the price didn’t drop much after 13 Mini was out. Still good phone at this price point

  • Thanks OP, was waiting for this.

I think this is as good as it gets for a mini. Likely apple will scale down production of the 13 mini and not release a 14 mini to keep prices up.

  • +12

Perfect size phone. Wish more people gave it a chance.

    • +1

Full agree. I’ll never get a bigger phone again.

    • The issue I have is the aspect ratio. The iPhone 4S I used to have was perfect. But these phones are too stretched, a more square aspect ratio is just more comfortable to use. The compromise is to get a larger screen.

    • Totally agree. I have the purple 12 mini 128 and love it

  • If you are after 13 mini 512 gb, you could potentially wait for Amazon's low price on 13 mini first. I have managed to get the phone at $1275 with price beat at officework.

    • +2

While that a nice price with the PB. I can't fathom spending more than 1000 bucks on a phone nowadays.

  • Picked up a black 64GB from Amazon. Thanks!

  • Officeworks are matching the white price so can’t prove beat there
Only $50 more than their 64GB

  • Deal is over. Price back to $1079.

    • +1

      still available at JB
Might want to be quick as there will be OZBers in fomo mode getting it I reckon.

I'll never buy an iPhone again. Had a 3 year contract on my iPhone 10 XS Max and literally in the final week of warranty I started getting ghost touch. Then slowly less and less control of screen. I never dropped it, not a signal scratch. Money down the drain.

    • +2

Go to Apple store and see if they are willing to still do some sort of warranty for you. They did for me and a friend of mine.

    • +3

Similar thing happened to me and it was fixed (replaced screen) in an hour. Didn’t cost a thing.

    • Same with mine. Apple store attempted to fix my screen out of warranty for free, and when they couldn't, they gave me a replacement phone for free

    • I've since dropped the stupid phone now the screens broke so they'll probably blame it on that

    • xs max 512 here , got it on day one, still using it daily.
not a single problem here tho.

the only time it struggled is using Navegation + wired charging + on the dash direct sunlight + 1hr drive + summer time. it might get super laggy and slow, and very hot to touch. I did that twice, and never again. other than that 2 times, it has been absolutely a champ, worth the money in my book. still have 89% health left on the factory battery.

I never use quick charge unless i have to. I never ever play mobo games as those are just lame. just daily use, occoationally video/photo edit nothing crazy. always in a case, always replace screen protector when its cracked (due to never invest into a good case until very recent, so regert didnt do it sooner)

  • White version available to backorder at @ $799

    Apple iPhone 12 mini (128GB) - White

  • 64gb Red, Green & White still showing $749.
Not sure why it’s marked as expired.

    • Because they aren’t 128gb for that price

      • Yeah, because 128gb was never $749.

        • They were $799.

          Then they went back up.

          • @Yafuturefavorite: Yeah, but I’m talking about 64gb, not 128gb.

Anyway, the expiry has been removed.

  • +1

Woo! Thank you for reminding me for price protection!

    • bought from Amazon 64gb version two weeks ago using gift cards - curious how price protection works ? thanks

  • Would the 13 mini have a much better battery for a light user than this, say 1.5hrs screen on time a day

    • +1

You’d be fine based on such little usage, in terms of not having to recharge during the day. The big drainer is 5G: I’m a heavy user and can last the whole day if I’m mainly on Wifi.

      • Thanks, it be a lot longer than my 83% capacity 2016 se :,) I’ll turn off 5g anyway

        • I'm also upgrading from an 84% original SE - exciting time for us :D

  • Got 128GB White for $799 just now.
Refreshed a few times & it came up as “back order”. Maybe somebody canceled it.

iPhones are sh!/. Still can't set up icon and widgets where we want, widgets are half baked with no scrolling or interactivity allowed, the app library is again messed with user can't make their own foldersand notifications are way behind Android.. can't swipe from middle of screen to bring up notification panel, swipe one side to bring notification panel and swipe the other side to bring the control centre such a childish system is IOS but still iPhone users continue to be bullied and messed up in the minds to buy it year after year….no I am not a troll, these are facts and have used systems IOS and Android and Android is much much user friendly and advanced system than IOS. The one thing that goes for iPhones and IOS is the ecosystem which is unmatched

I love Zollotech but iPhones are s*-t. Still can't set up icon and widgets where we want, widgets are half baked with no scrolling or interactivity allowed, the app library is again messed with user can't make their own foldersand notifications are way behind Android.. can't swipe from middle of screen to bring up notification panel, swipe one side to bring notification panel and swipe the other side to bring the control centre such a childish system is IOS but still iPhone users continue to be bullied and messed up in the minds to buy it year after year….no I am not a troll, these are facts and I have used systems IOS and Android and Android is much much user friendly and advanced system than IOS. iOS users still have the same perception of Android they had 10 years back that it lags and is slow blah blah but if they use once they will know that it is on par with iPhones in terms of daily use but much more user friendly. And I have not even touched upon customisation Android phones offer. goes

    • what did he mean by this

      • +1

He likes iPhones but doesn’t want to come on too strong?

    • +1

Imagine clicking on an iPhone deal to whinge about iPhones.

    • other than i cant put icon wherever i want, i would still chose iphone over andriod anyday of the week.
      (owned 3g, 4, 5, 6, xs max iphone. HTC M7 M9, samsung s10)

iOS does prefect what i need, and feels comfortable to use, looks nice, end of my story.

calling one side is shit blindly wont get you too far in any direction.
knowing what you need and use the right tool is the key.

      grow up son.
