Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android Smart Phone - Unlocked - $479.95 + Postage - Shopping Square

340

I think this beats previously posted prices at Shopping Square and Kogan and others.

Delivery and Handling adds at least $29.95 to the price

So price including delivery is $509.90. To some parts of Australia, the delivery and handling charge is higher

Update 5 March - see http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/65027 - Kogan price may now beat this

Update 8 March - http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/samsung-galaxy-nexus… = $504

You can clearly see that there is going to be a samsung release soon….

The let down for this phone was the processor and the 5 mp camera.

But still a good price if you want one.

    • +6

The 5mp camera isn't a let down at all. It's the quality that counts..
My s2's camera is worse than this

      • the impression I am getting from reading various back and forth arguments about the two cameras is that the GN is better when you're in good lighting, eg daylight. Especially with the zero shutter lag. But for low-light stuff, the SGS2 is apparently better.

I haven't actually seen pictures from, or used, either camera though. so this is just my impression from reading lots of arguments on whirlpool.

        • +1

I believe that is up to the SGS2 flash being brighter/better.

        • -1

This is true. GN camera is fantastic in good lighting, not so good otherwise.

        • +1

Yeah, I can second (or third?) this. The Galaxy Nexus camera can take some terrific photos outdoors, but indoors or at night it's not very good at all.

It helps to not use the default camera app — the zero shutter lag can actually be a bit of a hindrance, since it often doesn't seem to autofocus quick enough and you end up with blurry photos.

        look at ISO chart
move the view window to the right of center, look at the line pairs and you'll see the iphone resolves all the way down to 18 (arguably 20), the S2 to 16 and the nexus 14 if you're being generous

        Of course that's perfect lighting

        Real world is less obvious.

the camera of the nexus is great, 0 shutter lag and in the right conditions is just as good if not better than iphone and s2.

    • -1

The 5MP sensor in this is better than the 8MP one in the SGS2 fyi.

      • +1

might be due to ICS implementation rather than hardware?

oh and samsung have a planned announcement on 15th march which is rumoured to be galaxy S3.

        • No the sensor is faster and can focus better in normal conditions.

I have ICS on my SGS2 and it's still not as good.

  • this phone is great, I prefer it to the galaxy s2. but still think its worth holding out for the S3

  • +3

OMG, Postage is the killer here!

    Delivery & Handling: $29.95
    Remote Area Surcharge: $25.00

I think it might be best to stick with Kogan!

    • To non remote area, I don't think Kogan beats the full price inc delivery?

      • +2

Nope but I don't trust SS after what I went through to get my SGS2.

  • yeah that is a joke

  • good deal

firepowered just wait I received email like yesterday about my credit being in my shopping square account i purchased the sandisk cruzer blade usb 3 weeks or so ago.

  • +4

postage $29.95 to my postcode (non-remote), making it $509.90. Still over my own personal $500 threshold (plus reputational issues around shopping square that make me wary of them). Agree it's the cheapest I have seen though, but not cheap enough for me to pull the trigger.

  • I have a Galaxy Nexus & got it DAY 1 from Handtec. It cost me almost $700 but I still believe it was worth it.
It is THE google reference model. Meaning it will get the most software updates, it'll be the most compatible to apps, it'll have the best vanilla user experience.

    This is a good deal.

It doesn't matter if Samsung are coming out with a better phone, as an EX Galaxy S user, I can tell you, the software is what makes a great phone experience. The Galaxy Nexus will be unmatchable for almost another year.

    • +1

Unmatchable for almost another year… um.. not quite. Tegra 3 phones are on their way (probably the reason for the slight price drop). iPhone 5 will come later this year (and Samsung will counter with Galaxy S III).

However, Galaxy Nexus will be good enough for another year at least… that's for sure.

      • I like my phones to last atleast 2 years, I have been using a iphone 3G up until now and its only just getting a little slow. whether I get a galaxy nexus or wait for the s3 i will be happy for years with it.

      • Considering the S2 was released before the 4S, and people are speculating about the SIII's imminent announcement, you can't really call it 'countering'.

  • +6

Do not buy this from SS, go with Kogan.

Kogan ship for less and you can actually trust their service.

    • Kogan services is not all that great as you think. Plus they are real bastards on shipping, $49 to Gold Coast for a phone, and only now they brought it down to $19….so image the suckers who bought it back then and paid an extra $31 for shipping…I would eat my left shoe!

Plus shopping square you use the moneyback to get 2%. Its not sexy, but it still money back in your pocket.

  • the only thing that kills the GN for me is that it lacks a microSD card slot, otherwise I'd be all over it

  • Shame it's the size of a dinner plate.

Also, for me to switch from my Nokia N8, i'd be losing; much better camera, fm radio, fm transmitter, hdmi out, downgrade from 48gb max memory to 16gb, aluminium casing, usb "on the go".

    • +1

That's a feature man, in a pinch you can eat dinner on your phone.

    • Galaxy Nexus does have USB On The Go.

  • i ordered my Galaxy note from shopping square last Saturday night. Finally, i have just received an e-mail saying that my GN has been dispatched and got a tracking number(via Fedex Intl Economy). The ETA is next Wednesday. So the handling and delivery process takes roughly 8 works days which i think is very good as i always believed "you got what you paid for!"

    • {DELETE}

  • Hi guys, looking for a phone to replace a stolen Desire HD, hoping it will last me for at least 1-2 yrs. Should I:-

    • get a Nexus S for about 270, or
    • get the Galaxy Nexus for about 500?

Leaning towards the former, my dad has it and i like the feel of it, but wondering if it will be good enough to last a little while. Thanks.

  • Have not looked back since buying my SGS II phone about mid 2011 from these guys (SS), took forever to get it, but took advantage of a pricing error and ordered one. Never buying frokm SS again, horrible service.

  • Why not try www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au as they are selling it for $512 (free postage). I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note form them about a month ago and it arrived in a record time of 3 days. The phone was very well packaged on 2 layers of bubble wrap and a sealed post bag. My friend bought a Canon 600D from them last week and it was the same deal. Package arrived within 3 days. I placed an order with Catch of the Day and the items arrived in almost 3 weeks ! As for Shopping Square, it is just about the same. You will have to wait for a while even though it eventually arrived….
