I've been playing a LOT of Fallout 76 recently (as a new player, only picked it up earlier this month). Feels very similar to FO4 but with other people. Would recommend. No bugs or issues I've experienced that plagued the game on launch and set bad first impressions. ($18 at EB Games for console)

    • Interesting! I played a lot of FO76 on PS4 (Pro) and while I personally really enjoyed it, I found it was plagued with bugs and horrible framerates even long after launch. I got it for $9 from EB Games second hand. Which console are you playing on? I'm glad to hear it has improved, may have to download the updates and play again.

On PS5, just under a month and almost level 100 / Platinum. In that time the games crashed maybe 3 times or frozen on fast travel maybe 5 times. Nothing I really feel like I missed out on or got annoyed by from those drop outs. But its also had like 3 server maintenance updates so the devs haven't just left the game. The crippling and most annoying thing in the game is carry weight and storage limits lol. If you get smart with your perks and build you'll be fine though. Idk if thats different to how the game was at the start… also the forums talk about how the expansions have added a lot of content to the game like legendary drops etc and how theres rare "legacy" guns that dont drop anymore. You might find that youre sitting on a gold mine with your old account lol. I definitely feel like theres plenty of content.

        • Thanks for the reply - I can't remember exactly when I picked it up but I think it was a while after the first expansion dropped, although I've checked it out since then. At the time I couldn't believe how bad the framerate was on the Pro - especially in the salt flats style area, it would drop to sub 10 FPS reliably. I remember I had to be very smart with my inventory in terms of junk and what not, it was manageable but this was after they doubled the carry weight (or stash size?) due to complaints.

Despite all the problems I really did like the game, they certainly did a good job making the world itself (more interesting that in any other fallout IMO) and I loved all the new cryptids. I'll update it and have a look.

If you already have it (is part of the playstation plus collection) you can can also just get all the DLC for $11.39

    • Thanks, have added it to my main post.

  • I downloaded this in the weekend. I'm sure it was less than ten bucks.

    • Base game is also on sale, yep. Have added to my main post.

Just a heads up, save games don't transfer between the Disc and Digital version of this game.

I bought the season pass and installed the digital copy of Fallout 4 from the ps+ collection and the saves don't transfer.

Luckily I still own the disc version of the game but would of been convenient to use the free digital version.

    • Cheers for this.
I want to get this but in Disc Version, but they don't make it. The GOTY edition is for Base Version + digital download of the DLC. So if you buy a second hand one, the DLC is either expired or used up.

All my current collection is Disc-based, and I intend to stay that way. I don't game too often, and too much of a cheapskate to pay for Online Access.

      • I'm mostly disc based as I like to have a physical copy if I'm paying $70 for a new game. That said I'm happy to buy digital games when they're cheap enough, honestly for $13.73 that's a good price and worth getting imho.

    • Funny because I had the opposite experience going between disc and digital. My saves were definitely still there. Same happened with Metal Gear Solid 5.

Are you absolutely certain you weren't able to? Perhaps a move for the save files to cloud would help? I'm not too sure as I didn't pay any mind since it just worked out for me!

This is the first game I've had issues with saves when going from the disc to the digital version. Don't think I've had to do anything in the past, it's always just synced with the cloud saves.

Just assumed it would be fine, I Googled it and it seems to be a known issue with Fallout 4.

        • I think it's because this game has MOD options, so it acts a little funny. For some reason, MS used to be horrible with this whilst Sony didn't because you never had the option.

          Now?
Sony is having these issues with the PS4/Pro/PS5 and with Disc/Digital saves. Whereas MS seems to have fixed a lot of these issues.

PC doesn't have this issue. Your saves are either online (eg Fortnite) or they're locally stored (ie Just use a USB). Besides, upgrading generations on PCs are usually a factor of replacing a GPU and other components. It's messy but it works well.

It's also same price on Xbox via Microsoft store

Pretty sure that's historical low for the season pass…which has always been priced offensively. Might be time to grab it up.

  • I have played this game only with the DLC & it took a long time grinding, so hopefully having the DLC makes it better.
I quit it as too much grinding.

I've played through Fallout 4 multiple times and never once had to grind. Maybe I just enjoyed exploring so much it didn't bother me.
