Help: Extracting The Drive from a Portable HDD and Using It to Upgrade PS4 Storage

Hi,

Was wondering whether any IT whiz/ gamer could help me out with the following:

I want to upgrade a PS4 internal storage system.
I have a portable HDD that i never use: Seagate backup plus 4TB.

Also, if anyone did change the internal storage for their PS4:
Did it take long?
How easy/ hard was your experience?

Cam I take out the drive from the portable HDD and use it as internal storage for the PS4?
Can anyone recommend a good link from a reliable source for a PS4 storage upgrade?

Much appreciated?

In advance, thank you for your help

Yes you should be able to use a portable HDD.

You can plug a usb harddrive straight into the ps4 and use it.
I've been doing it with a 2tb for a year now (and it seems to run faster than the internal drive when loading games).

I've also changed the internal harddrive which took around 5-10 mins and about 8 screws.

But as others have said, Youtube should've been your first port of call.

Added a 2tb from a WD passport HDD or whatever they are called. From memory, maybe i had to change the format of it from fat32 etc.

4TB may not work. The drives are a bit thicker than average, so may not fit the space.

I recently went through the process of switching a PS4 pro HDD out, but I used a 500gb SSD because the load times were killing me. Much snappier now

I've been using a portable hd externally, think about 2 years ago they updated to allow that. Have also changed the internal one as it died, didn't take my husband too long, as long as you have the right tools
