Wynns Coonawarra Shiraz 2012 $15 (Member Offer) @ Dan Murphy's

1060

Wynns Shiraz continues to be one of Australia's affordable favourites. Tucked away in the cellar of many budding wine collectors, Wynns Shiraz has all the structure and pedigree of some of its higher priced brothers and sisters. Rich varietal characters of plum, spice and pepper are woven through the minty regional notes and framed by fine, firm tannins.

  • I don't know how but a tiny bottlemart/supermarket right near me does this range for $14 every couple of fortnights. One of my favs.

    • The Wynns is a good drop. It's a no brainer for $14

  • +2

$15 for the cellar release is fantastic, Wynn's stuff does really well with a few years under the belt

    • Perhaps I'm confusing this vintage with some non-aged model, which is also very good.

      • +2

indeed thats what I thought at first too. Non aged is often $10.40 in any six. But $15 for vintage is good. I'm drinking a fair chunk of the 2013 Cab Sav 'Siding' version i 'cellared' myself and it is quite tasty

It's not a life changing difference, but it does improve it. Every time Dan's does a vintage black for under $30 I grab a bunch because it's probably the best value wine you can walk into a store and buy (in my completely uncultured opinion).

2012 was also a fantastic year in Coonawarra, so I suspect this will be pretty good.

  • It’s currently two for $30 at Liquorland too (I’m in Vic). Not sure if that’s a different vintage though… is 2012 what you’d normally find for this or is it part of Dan’s special?

Edit: just saw it’s a cellar release for DM.

  • Amazon list 6 for $85.8. is it the same?

No. Still available at some stores

  • First choice liquor literally want $45 for the same wine… I told the guy in store they were dreaming given that they should be able to cellar it cheaper than the average person and that's the point of it.

Going to try a price match :-)

  • Thanks OP, just ordered 3 from my local :)

    • I have to agree with one review….i had lots of particle content at the bottom of a bottle. It tasted great up until then though!

      • +3

'i had lots of particle content at the bottom of a bottle'

        You want this!

  • Unbelievably this is still going. Just ordered a couple… Won't be surprised if I get a last minute message from them saying they don't have it! They've done that a few times lately.
Will keep you updated if anything like that changes…
