    Still hanging onto the Dreamcast…

      best console of all time

      • Without a doubt.

      • You know it 😉

  • +1

Can it run on my Pentium 100?

    • -2

It’s for console, not PC, so no.

    • +9

Runs on my pentium II 266Mhz with Voodoo 2 GFX card.

        And soundblaster sound card

        • +1

I nearly bought that system for 3k

        • +1

not just soundblaster, but soundblaster Live!

      • This made me drool in 1997.

        • I was wowed by this game in 1994, but by 1997 it was old. The reflections of the sky on the rear glass of the car was so ahead of it's time.

          • @AussieZed: Sorry I was referring to the PC specs above. I played Daytona in 1994 as well (summer holidays in the arcade), but was wowed by the fact we could play it at home a few years later. Back then arcade games still had this 'larger than at home' feel to it until the PS1 and Sega Saturn introduced some titles (and the N64 a bit later).

But in 1997 we already had Sega Rally which was better looking but not as fun.

            • @Kontiki: I wish we got arcade games these days that looked better than anything you could play at home.

  • I am contemplating buying a driving setup and an xb1 just for these two games now.

So many good times as a kid racing with my uncle's and my dad on these at the arcades good times.

    DAYYYYYYTONAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA….

what about Outrun Online Arcade ? the only game I still play on my Xbox 360

    • That game got delisted unfortunately. I still occasionally play it from time to time to.

  • +2

As much as I love Daytona USA, I really wish we would get proper home ports of the two sequels.

    • +5

And perhaps Scud Racer and Outrun 2006 while they're are at it. 👍

      • Never letting go of my copy of Outrun 2006 C2C on the OG Xbox!

        • GIVE ME (profanity) OUTRUN 3, SEGA, (profanity) SAKE.

      • For sure!

We won't see Outrun due to lack of Ferrari licensing :(

        • Hoping they would re-release it or make an updated version with generic cars and without any branding. It's
a shame to see it disappear because of licensing issues.

    • Same

  • +6

Maybe stick away from crazy taxi if your a fan. They changed the soundtrack due to licencing so you don't have the original soundtrack

    • +6

Without The Offspring and Pizza Hut it's just not Crazy Taxi. :(

      • +1

In addition to KFC, Levi & Bad Religion

    • Wowsers. It's crazy that would give the game a completely different feel, but being young teen at the arcade and hearing it blast Offspring when the game started up was really part of the package. What a shame.

      • Use Spotify on Xbox. 👍🏻

        • I don't actually have an Xbox. Lol. I just upvoted because I love these games.

You can easily emulate the original one in many old consoles, hail to the retroarch!
no need to pay imo :)

  • I bought this when it was last on sale. This was one of my favourite games at the arcade. I still remember that song so clearly.

  • -5

The Crazy Taxi series are some of the most over-rated games i have ever played.
Maybe they were fun for 20 minutes as a 5 year old child but even then i'm doubtful.

  • Great game. Bought it full price when they launched on 360 and glad it carried over to Xbox One. Now all I need is for it to be supported natively on Windows then I can play on my the go!

  • +1

Where the HECK is Sega Rally!!!!

    DO-DO-DO-DO-DO-DO-DO-DO——DOOOOOOOOO-OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH…………………

Meanwhile the machines at my local cinema are $4 a game!

    Gentlemen…. Start your engines!
    Roooolling staaaaart!

Ladies…er… These were the dark ages.

  • the amount of drunk money ive spent on daytona over the decades would get me a daytona machine

  • I was disappointed that there is no 2 player option for the xbox, it's basically single player only unless you are playing on xbox live against someone else who owns the game

  • Hahaha! The amount of money i put in this game at the arcade / ten pin bowling. Love it.

  • +1

Thanks, Daytona doesn't appear in the Store deals lists on Xbox One for some reason. It is available in search but cannot be purchased.

You have to purchase it on the website link, then it does not appear in your game library either. Have to go back to the store page on the console after purchasing, and then you should have an install button.

This was my experience anyway. Strange.

  • +1

It's not really the same playing this at home. Much more fun at a video arcade with others.

    • +1

Yeah, half the fun was always ramming my mates into the wall at the entrance to the tunnel :D Just not the same doing that to AI (or even online).

  • has anyone been able to emulate daytona 2 or 3 well? and without a high end pc?

Apparently you can emulate daytona 2 with that, have not tried it myself and can't seem to find specs needed to run it on their page so no idea if a high-end PC is needed.

    • +1

I've run Daytona 2 pretty well @60fps with my i7, 16GB RAM. Anything less than that it struggles. The emulator relies mainly on the CPU so having a fancy graphics card won't help.

I'm not sure what architecture Daytona 3 runs on, but it's relatively new so no chance of playing it yet.

  • Cost $2 to play a round at your local Timezone so it's a real bargain.

God, if I'd saved every $2 I spent on this game back in my uni days, I would probably have paid off my home and been able to retire by now.

  • +1

Crazy Taxi is Free* (Offers in game purchases) on the App Store so I'm thinking of saving my $2.48 and playing it on the iPad tbh
