Free 1 Year License of ESET Internet Security (ABN Required) @ Harris Technology

162

Just got an email from Harris Technology — they partnered with ESET to provide all SMBs a 1 year license to ESET Internet Security, but requires ABN to register.

The form is screwed… Seems like your Company Name needs to be an email address???

    • You enter your company name in the 'email' field and your email in the 'company name' field. The intern messed this formatting up.

Businesses need to be a registered HT user -_-

I'll just stick to my $4 2-year 2-device ebay licenses.

    • Quick ebay search showed $10-$20 per year?

      link please

      • It was in November from a seller called avsoft2244 but doesn't seem to still have them listed.

  • I had no issues getting it.

Just have a personal ABN for my side hustle and it worked.

    • How long did it take to receive yours? I haven't received mine yet. :(

Didn't have a good experience with ESET on MacOS, was doing some weird stuff across various machines. They must spend their effort on Windows version.

    • I've been using ESET's NOD32 for Windows since version 2.5 (NOD32 is the standalone AV product without Internet Security's additional browser/phishing/online banking protection modules).

The current release is version 13.x for NOD32.

Never had a bad word to say about it.

What kind of "weird stuff" were you seeing?

More spyware for your PC. Just use the WIndows defender that comes with your device and ublock origin to block malicious ads. perfect

This. I also use 1.1.1.2 for my DNS and run monthly malwarebytes scan.

Oh the irony, complaining about spyware while championing Windows 10 and its built-in antivirus.

Yes mate, trust the antivirus built into the OS that makes 4,000 connection attempts to 93 different Microsoft IP addresses in an 8 hour period, to send "telemetry".

ESET has been around since 1992 and their flagship products NOD32 Antivirus/ESET Internet Security have always been extremely well-regarded amongst IT professionals for their frugal resource-usage, extremely low false positive rate and very unobtrusive operation (no nag prompts, no user interaction required).

In AV Comparatives' Enhanced Real-World Test 2019, ESET and Kaspersky were the only AV products to achieve a perfect score, blocking all threats in a simulated hacking/penetration testing benchmark.

I'm not saying antivirus software is the be-all and end-all of cyber security; it should always be one layer in a hierarchy of security measures and good browser hygiene and common sense security add-ons for Chrome/Firefox are always a good idea too, but to claim that ESET's products are "spyware" is an absolutely hilarious form of cognitive dissonance when the very OS you're running has been infamous since its inception for massive security vulnerabilities, a severe lack of privacy and built-in data mining that researchers still haven't figured out how to completely disable (and likely never will) nor what its real purposes are.

      • You do realise that if you are using windows then you are already sending your data to Microsoft. so why add ANOTHER antivirus company to send your data to?

        • Because ESET aren't Microsoft?

Until ESET have been outed as a company not to be trusted and have had numerous, publicised, highly-damaging, security-related incidents where their software has been proven to data mine and share user-generated information beyond any reasonable degree, then I maybe I'll change my mind.

Reason not to rely solely on Windows Defender …

  • I got the auto responder email but haven't received a key yet. Anyone got theirs?

    • I've gotten that once before when purchasing an ESET product. I just emailed support directly and asked for the key.

      • Thanks. I'll give it a go.

      • Is that eset or HT?

        • Regardless of who the reseller is, I'm fairly certain you will receive your product key directly from ESET themselves and all of ESET's products also require you to register an account with ESET to activate your product. Hence, once you've created an account, you can just contact them directly for any issues with product keys.

  • I registered my details on that page on 16/4
received an instant email says it will deliver the code within 48 hours
    It's 24/4 now
    Anyone actually received it?

    I haven't received one.
