Edit:
Don't buy online. Going out of business. Stock is questionable, fulfilment is questionable, refunds are questionable.

I had an issue with this retailer. Ordered an item that turned out to be out of stock. Refund was promised and the refund date went past. Another date was given and this passed again. Customer service email advised they were shutting down the customer service email permanently and not to email them again but to email the branch. No response from the store branch.
I only got a refund after doing a chargeback with my bank.

    • Ouch that sucks. I’ve bought a few things from curious planet and formally Australian geographic, but I guess when businesses are under administration customer service is often first to go! Best to pick up in store from here on based on your experience it seems.

    • Yeah do NOT buy it online. I had to do a credit card chargeback after they promised to refund me. They said the refund would take place within 1-3 days but I still didn't get a refund after almost a month. Luckily I did the chargeback because I don't think I would have got the refund otherwise.

      Here. Let me help.

Don't buy online. Going out of business. Stock is questionable, fulfilment is questionable, refunds are questionable.

      • Totally. If they take money off you, then you don't receive the product, you're just an unsecured creditor, who'll never get their money. Only buy in-store, only buy with a credit card who provides extended warranty.

        Edited to include this :)

I had the exact same issue. Ordered item that was out of stock, refund promised and refund date went past. Followed-up and was issued another date that passed again. I've just initiated credit card chargeback. I'll bet lots of people don't bother. Very dodgy.

    • Thanks for mentioning this. I was promised a refund before Christmas and forgot about it.
Checked my statement and it finally went through yesterday.

So they may well refund but it takes much longer than it should.

      • Did they forget to refund your shipping, too?

        • Was part of a larger order with free shipping, so not an issue

Emailed the administrator PwC and they advised there is a backlog of refunds due to "technical issues".

  • Is this accurate?

  • oos?

  • Wouldn't Credit Card company or paypal protect buyer?

  • read the other threads on this company before buying anything from them

I wouldn’t buy a weather station in 2020 that required me to connect it to a PC to download the 7 days worth of data it has stored. That is some antiquated stuff right there.

There are heaps of wireless weather station that collect to Wunderground.
I have this one (paid around $150) and it is very good. Easy install and set up. Talks to my internet. Talks to Wunderground.

    • doesnt wunderground charge you now ?

      • it does?! i thought we were doing THEM the favour by providing our weather data. why are they not paying US?

I’m just a simple man who wants to access my weather station data in real time via the internet. Wundergound does that for free and records the historic data as well.

They’re is a lot of articles on the internet about them charging for something called an API now. Since I don’t know what that is it probably doesn’t concern me.

So free for everything I need it to do.

  • If there is a problem with their consumer service, I may not be able to get a refund or a warranty if there is a problem with the product.

    • I will wager that you will not get a refund nor warranty from these crooks.

  • Southland store closed. Stock still there lights out this morning. Might open tomorrow, but doubt it. Anyone else been to other stores.

  • Just got a notification that mine has been posted

  • I got an "Explore Scientific" WSX1001 from the Morley WA store for $180, marked down from $425. All I wanted was something I could pass through to Weather Underground, and this had their logo on the box. Turns out the base station uploads directly and I don't even need to rely on some cloud-based middle-man that will vanish one day. Hoping to install it this weekend.
