    Good price

    $295 at msy

$290 @ CCPU computers for those living in Carlingford NSW.

  • Tell ya mate hes a dingus, no point buyung intel unless you're going full $3000 PC build.

    • +3

Well, this is gonna give you slightly more fps in games if that's a thing you care about. I have a 3600 myself. Intel is a loathsome company but the product is what it is.

    • -5

Well it depends highly on what he wants to do with it. If he's purely going budget, it's $25 cheaper than the AMD and you can get a board for the Intel CPU for around $70, whereas the cheapest board for a Ryzen 5 3600 is about $250. So there's a $205 saving straight up. If I were building a home office PC or a media rig, I would go with the Intel every day, solely for that reason alone.

      • +4

$250 minimum for a 3rd gen ryzen board is grossly inaccurate to the point of either being ignorant or incompetent or sock puppeting for Intel.

      • whereas the cheapest board for a Ryzen 5 3600 is about $250

What? The 3600 will run even on an A320 (with a BIOS update - See Asrock's site for their A320M-HDV R4.0. There's no reason at all you need to require a $250 motherboard to run it.

You go for something 'solely for that reason alone' yet your reasoning is completely incorrect.

        • watch the guy never come back… what a loser

          • @tonyjzx: Haha bit harsh, but yeah I get your sentiment. Definitely did seem like a troll post (that was so easy to disproved!)

        • -1

I'm not interested in buying older boards that need bios updates. I'm talking about current am4 3rd gen boards from the store that I would be purchasing from. So yeah, $250 is the price. And you're linking a single board here, whereas if I went with the intel cpu, there's a veritable shit tonne of them for under $100 that don't require you to screw with the bios.
Additionally, that quote you linked is only partial, I said the cheapest board for the Ryzen in am4 3rd gen from PC Case Gear is $250, which it is.

It was a simple example to show that even the most budget chipset from AMD supports Ryzen 3rd gen. Updating a BIOS isn't 'screwing with the BIOS' (you'll need to do plenty of those with Intel to mitigate all the security flaws that keep being discovered ;-) ) and most reputable shops will update it if required for a small fee, or AMD can even loan out an old processor to update your BIOS.

Nowhere in your initial post did you say anything about PC Case Gear.

So either way, you're still wrong.

@Nousernamehere: I gave you the link, and it supports what I said. The cheapest current gen board on the site is $250. Have a nice day!

              • @mox: Your link doesn't support anything, I've trumped your link and shown you that Ryzen 3rd gen is supported on even the cheapest A320M motherboards.

              • @mox: so you need the best and latest for AMD but if you get Intel, a $70 board works just fine?

    https://www.techspot.com/review/1885-ryzen-5-3600-vs-core-i5…

He is giving up around 15% faster gaming performance and around 40% faster in everything else by going for a i5 9600KF vs a R5 3600 (the 3600 also comes with a much better cooler)

    • -3

      Yeah, not really

In any case, this is totally irrelevant - OP posted a good deal for the 9600K.

      • No, OP posted a standard price for a 9600KF…

userbenchmark.com uses the following metrics to show of performance

        10% Multi threaded performance
        90% single threaded performance.

Modern games and apps are all moving towards multi threaded workloads so what did userbenchmark.com do… the opposite

they reduced their benchmark weighting from 20% multi to 10% so intel products look better. lol it was a big news whoha when they first made the change when Ryzen 3000 series launched.. they are a 100% intel paid shill site.

The only CPU intel makes still worth buying is the 9900k and thats if your 100% gaming and doing nothing else.

The 4000 series laptop chips coming out from AMD have now also made all of intels mobile chips trash that use more power and perform worse.

AMD's stock is almost at $50 from $1 before Ryzen launched

AMD fanbois seem to be in denial today.
          From the page I linked:

          Intel:
          - Slightly faster single-core speed. +5%
          - Slightly faster dual-core speed. +5%
          - Slightly faster quad-core speed. +8%
          - Slightly Better CSGO EFps. +13%
          - Slightly Better GTAV EFps. +9%
          - Slightly Better Overwatch EFps. +5%
          - Slightly Better PUBG EFps. +11%

          AMD:
          - Slightly faster octa-core speed. +7%

From your linked site (9600k, not the highlighted 9400f):
          - Assassin's Creed: Odyssey: AMD
          - Battlefield V: Tie
          - Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Tie
          - The Division 2: AMD
          - Far Cry New Dawn: Intel
          - Rage 2: Intel
          - Hitman 2: Intel
          - Total War: Three Kingdoms: Intel

          Your statement

giving up around 15% faster gaming performance and around 40% faster in everything else by going for a i5 9600KF vs a R5 3600

seem to be a wish or a subjective hatred for Intel, but certainly not based on facts.

    • Maybe, keep in mind the ryzen 5 3600 in this review is using an x570 meg creation board with 3200 CL14 (Expensive RAM! which boosts ryzen performance but you pay for it) on pcpp the cheapest cl14 kit for 3200 i could find was double the price of 3200 cl16.

the same ram was used on the intel but we all know that intel doesnt benefit that much from going expensive on the ram.

If it matters to you too, you're stuck with PCI-E 3.0 instead of 3rd Gen Ryzen's PCI-E 4.0,

  • Wait for Comet Lake (10th) gen i5, which will have hyperthreading. I wouldn't bother with this.

    • 6 core 12 thread? hardly gamechanging just intel throwing you a bone. Just go amd if that's all the upgrades on offer. Intel might be worthy in 2-4 years with a new process.

      • I'd say that double the number of threads is something that is definitely worth waiting for. It will be the first ever i5 to have hyperthreading.

        • +2

I guess if your fixated only intel

          • @Top G: Well, this is a post about an Intel product. Whatever product a competitor has is not that relevant.

    • Comet Lake is just another iteration of Skylake on 14nm++ to infinity. It's a dying platform to waste your money on. Only Intel CPU worth getting if you are only gaming at 1080p ,but still on a dying platform, is the 9900k.
