Economy fares are selling at $380-$500 for the above periods. Pretty amazing price for business I'd say.

Economy fares you mention are return.

OP’s business class are one way.

  • For those who’ve travelled business how’s the Business class experience?. I was offered a $298 for the upgrade to business from economy for the first leg of journey which is 9 hours flight. Is it worth it?

    • +4

      It certainly is

Once you fly business, it's hard to go back to economy.

      Depends on the aircraft.

      A330 or A380 - hell yes!
B737 - not so much (unless you’re after the status credits).

Flights to NZ (from Melbourne at least) will be the B737.

        When did VA get A380s?

With Virgin business class on a 737 is pointless… Unless it's a red eye and you find worth in the infamous lounge "hot shower". Where its worth - an a330/777 operated flight will have a flatbed. In this case, definitely worth it. Back in the day my first J flight was on a 330 BNE-PER so I assumed a flatbed was the norm. However I had the unpleasant surprise of a 737 on the return leg. They use a mix of planes on BNE-PER legs but usually use 330s ex Syd/Mel

Still better seat, more leg room. Better food, drinks and service. Overall still more comfortable. Economy sucks on a 6 hours flight from Brisbane to Perth on those 737s..

        • That's very true… But would be a borderline decision for me. If it was say 30-40% more expensive then I'd go for it. I've had a lot of success bidding for upgrades with virgin - it's also an option

    • Thanks Guys for the reply. I'll go with it - $1200 in total for 4 pax. BTW its a A333.

    • I think business for 737 for flights above 5 hours is still not too bad, the inflight dining experience with Virgin is quite good.

    • worth it is subjective. if you have money extra money, it can be yeah, why not. but for most people they'd rather have $300 to spend elsewhere than for the extra comforts of a short haul flight.

my name is Nigel… this is no deal for me

  • Business Class is the way to go if you can afford it, so many perks.

  • Is this deal valid to LAX ?
