10% off Sitewide - eBay/PayPal Gift Cards, Officeworks/Target & Auto Parts (Min Spend £20, Max Discount £50) @ eBay UK

2010
POWPOW10

Happy New Year Ozbargain! Last deal from me for 2018.

Minimum spend A$36.08, maximum discount A$90.20.

Tested and working on gift cards -

All other items - find the item on eBay.com.au and change the .com.au to .co.uk.

10% off also applies for Officeworks, Target and Fantastic Furniture. Postage will need to be paid as there is no C&C option for eBay UK.

10% off for auto parts which are usually excluded from eBay AU sitewide sales.

Note - no GST is charged of the purchased item is from an Australian seller.

How it works -

Option 1:

Find what you want on eBay.com.au then change the URL at the start to eBay.co.uk for easy purchasing.

If above doesn't work then try this.

Option 2:

Considering what happened in the last deal, the country switch doesn't seem to work anymore, so you will most likely have to make a new account at eBay UK to take advantage of this offer.

Add random UK address and use AU mobile to confirm account via SMS then add AU address as preferred/Primary Delivery Addresss .

Tip : Use Dummy email by using existing email to register at eBay UK without creating new email id.

Your email: [email protected]
Dummy email : [email protected] ( just try any combination starts with +) This works with Gmail and Hotmail. Haven't tried with other email services so do check before you buy.

You will receive email on your original email id

If you get the error on checkout - "To buy a gift card, you need a US eBay and PayPal account." - make sure your primary address is set to your Australian one.

Will they work with AU Paypal?

    • It has in thr past, so should still now

    • Never does for me.

  • Wish Gift card is out of stock

  • +5

I'd love to do this but I am too scared ebay will link and ban similar accounts… they are heartless

    • +2

Yes, I have heard this happening previously so it is a genuine risk that people are taking…

      • In my past experience, eBay rarely try banning accounts used for buying. They're mainly looking out for people with extra selling accounts trying to avoid selling limits. You can basically have as many buying accounts as you want, it's just that if you sell with any accounts it might get picked up.

If it's any worry, make a new account and complete the purchase with a new IP (i.e. through VPN or mobile data), a name variation and a different address in an incognito browser. Shouldn't have any problems and you can just use this account for these kinds of deals when they pop up.

        • I guess so, would have to be a fresh credit card in case they link that way too. For some reason I thought new accounts needed ID verification but maybe that's selling only as well??

          • +2

@leeroys_dad: If you haven't sold on eBay before, go for your life in making new accounts no need to change any details. Ebay wouldn't have a "blacklist" on credit cards only Paypal but again this is just for selling. Ebay don't really have any ID verification until you are selling a large quantity of items. For this deal, you'll be fine and the fact you're making an account on a different eBay domain would mean eBay would be concerned less.

          • +3

@leeroys_dad: Biggest thing is to have seperate emails for each account, and ones you can actually access too

        • +2

had one of my two ebay uk accounts banned in august.

then last month, my ebay us account got banned, followed by my 2nd ebay uk account a few days later. they even mentioned in the email their reason was because they believed those two accounts were linked.

they can be a bit anal about multiple accounts when they want to be

          • @tdw: Their system is really weird, I've got like 10 eBay accounts in AU that I always access regularly. As long as you take a few extra steps when signing up you'll usually be fine

  • +1

    I misread the title as …Officeworks/Target gift cards… 😂

  • +2

Looks like all gift card related to Woolworth is out of stock. They can't keep up with ozbargain :/

    • Updated OP. Thanks, I didn't test them all.

  • No more UK accounts to buy GC :(

  • Question of the day - do you get charged in aud or pounds? Is the merchant located overseas?

Asking because it has a bearing on which cc I use

    • +3

      In AUD. Located in AU.

  • +6

Okay, i'm too poor with all these deals. bye

    • +1

Cmon mate buy now, worry about the consequences next year =p

      • +1

        Now where's my angel?

  • +3

Very tempting… What's the odds of the next 15% off again springing up like last deal?

    • +5

Not in the near future. They are rare. But don't take my word.

      • Thank you. I figured this deal is equal or better than any .au deal, and eBay dollars is as good as cash to me, always something to buy… so what the heck! Maxed it out :D

  • +2

dammit wallet is so empty I need to declare bankruptcy

    • +1

Same. I owe more than the US government and still maxed out this deal :D

  • Yeh, I can't seem to buy via Option 1 or 2. With Option 2 I get the error on checkout - "To buy a gift card, you need a US eBay and PayPal account."

    As always, great post Chibot.
    Happy new year everyone, cheers.

  • Quick question, what is difference between ebay gift card & paypal gift card. When use, where do you put the redemption code from the gift card in?

    • eBay gift card (in the description) is the GC to be used in eBay Australia (ebay.com.au)

paypal gift card (in the description) are the bunch of GCs sold by eBay seller paypal-digital-gifts
which include eBay GC, officeworks, seeds, Uber, Myer etc…

    • The eBay gift card is just one of the gift cards sold by PayPal. I could say just PayPal but then not everyone will know that includes eBay, WISH etc.

      Promo code entered at checkout.

      • Thanks, so after I buy and go to redeem, do I put the redemption code…where?

        • The same place you put the ebay discount codes. It recognises the code as a gift card.

    • -1

I guess an eBay GC can only work on eBay. However, a PayPal GC can be used on any site that accepts PP. PP currency conversions are atrocious though and I use my CC with no international transaction fee for superior rates.

  • Getting an error - This code can't be applied to your order.

    Anyone else had this?

    • +4

So I will clarify as I finally got it to work, - the instructions are unclear
      In your ebay UK account:

Registration address, email and phone number: = UK ADDRESS
Your main postage address for purchases = AU ADDRESS
Primary post from address: = AU ADDRESS

This finally worked for me. Hope this gets you over the line. I did not confirm SMS phone number.

      Thanks

      • +10

I think that's what everyone has been trying to tell you.

          • +1

            @LikezDaBargainz:

Add random UK address and use AU mobile to confirm account via SMS then add AU address as preferred/Primary Delivery Addresss .

    • YEs I got the same error because silly me was still purchasing through ebay.com.au. Make sure you are doing it via ebay.co.uk

  • trying now….. still waiting for the gift card….. more than half an hour now

    • Don't stress on it, it may take 4 hours..

    • The email says several hours. On previous buys it has taken this.

    • Just got mine, FYI.

      • Thanks got mine too.

  • Stupid questions, the gift card can be used multiple times right? (i.e $100 gift card can be used 4 times of $25)
I saw from previous post that a voucher (not gift card) can only used once, the remaining will be forfeited

    • Yep. You can use 100 x $1 even.

    • Can be used across multi purchases until it is expended

    • +1

Yes, but when you first use it, it gets locked to that ebay account…

      • +1

        thanks guys / girls

  • I'm getting the following message when trying to use the code:

"This code can't be applied to your order."

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I created the UK account and used my parents address in the UK. I've set the primary delivery address to my AU one but kept the registered address as the UK one. I'm using my AU paypal account.

    • +1

Read my posts above, I had the same problem, I have attempted to fill in the gaps to how I got it to make it work.

      • Sorry, ignore the above. It's because I was on au.com instead of co.uk. However, I've ran in to a new problem. I logged in to Paypal but then it blanks it out as a payment option and defaults to credit card as well as blanking out the discount code section. It says:

"We ran into a problem and PayPal isn't available right now. Please select a different payment option."

Edit, I used a different AU paypal account and it worked so I'm not sure why the other one wasn't working because it even has credit in it that would have covered it.

  • wish GC out already? 0.0

  • +1

POWPOW again! Looking forward to POWPOW20

  • got a question, can I buy $200 gift card at ebay uk and use the same code to pay things on ebay uk with the gift card to make it 10% off + 10% off = 20% off??

    • No. You're buying an AU gift card.

      • if the uk gift cards are 10% off, it may work?
if we can buy uk gift cards with uk gift cards, we could make it really cheap after few times buying.

    • I am testing this theory right now.

    • Answer = NO.
It gives this errror : You can't redeem a gift card for orders in other countries.

      • +1

did you purchase ebay uk gift card? or AU one?
what I said was using ebay uk gift card to buy ebay uk stuff, but actually things in AU just change the website .com.au to .co.uk like how we purchase AU gift cards

        • I purchased AU cards, on the UK site, if that helps. Can't buy on UK site with discount GC. But that's okay, just waiting for AU 10%+

        • The AU gift card's initial activation has to be on eBay AU, once you have the gift card tied to your account (made a purchase) any remaining balance can then be used on any eBay site.
You could use a gift card to make an initial purchase of $1 on eBay AU account, then have $99 to spend on any eBay site (assuming $100 gift card)
You can only have one gift card balance tied to your account at any one time though, so any item value over the voucher amount would have to come from another means of payment, Paypal or CC etc

  • I have been prompted: To buy a gift card, you need a US eBay and PayPal account.

    Anyone has this issue?

    • If you get the error on checkout - "To buy a gift card, you need a US eBay and PayPal account." - make sure your primary address is set to your Australian one.
