    • This is pretty standard…

      • Yes, look up "PEP" and any bank initials. It's the AML/CTF law.

  • You can't get both offers on the same account?

  • You just open a Everyday (S1) account and you will need to select the Visa Debit card for the S1 account.

  • BankFirst customer, have been since they were Vic Teachers Credit Union.

They're not bad customer service wise, but only two branches and limited account offerings. I moved to ING because their fees were costing me a fortune.

    • Same here (as in 8 year customer) but have never paid a fee at all.

    • I’ve been a customer since I was a kid (and that’s a reasonable while!!) and they were VTCU. Like Chriso1, I’ve never paid a fee. I find there’s a ton of account choices, more than enough, with better interest than hubby gets at one of the big four.

I’ve always found their service excellent and the two branches has never been an issue as money can be deposited and withdrawn via Commonwealth Bank (incl atms) or post offices. They can do most other stuff over the phone or net banking. Have always been very happy with them

      • Is there no ATM withdrawal/deposit fee at CBA ATM's?

        • Free

          • @Hen: I figured, thanks :)

  • But this account seems to be free.

  • Didn’t confirm my identity electronically which was a bit of a pain.

  • Does the $300 spend have to be EFTPOS purchase or can it be online transactions?

    • +3

I asked them and it can be anything.

  • can you get both $50 offers visa debit card and salary deposits? also can i make just 1 salary deposit of $250 or does it need to be continuous for 3 months? do you get charged any fees if account remains dormant after cashing out the bonuses?

    • I think you can do both and get two lots of $50. I don't know about account fees.

  • what does a referal give you and can it be used together with this offer? someone pm me a referral

  • Can anyone confirm the offer for students?

  • I wonder why this deal is not as popular as the recent Suncorp deal for $50 posted today. This deal only has 11 up votes yet this other one has 56 up votes and been up for less than a day.

    • Doesn't the Suncorp one allow you to purchase Coles GC at 7% off? Also perhaps Suncorp is more well known.

      • The Suncorp deal is better but not by a lot, at the end of both you still get $50. I would prefer to just have to make 5 apple pay transactions to get the $50 rather than spend $300 on the debit card to get $50 but I figured with Christmas and all the extra spending that happens I could easily use this card during this time without deliberately spending just to get the bonus. I would like to get the Suncorp offer as well but I don't have a apple phone, I wonder how he/she knew of it.

  • 3rd option =

$50 cash back when you save $300 in your Bonus saver account within 3 months of opening the account

    https://www.bankfirst.com.au/campaign/student-banking

you may need to click on the middle circle (the third circle) // sideways scroll to see this option

  • It is ironic when this offer for students is save $300 get $50 cash back, spend $300 get $100 cash back. Such is life these days.

  • did anyone apply for this??

    cheers

  • I just applied and at the end it said they will be in contact. No account details have been provided.

    • +1

same happen to me and asked that i send in certified id. i ignored it and in a few days time got email and sms saying our accounts are open.

      • Still nothing yet for me.

  • what does this mean

Inactive Account Keeping Fee $20.00 per annum
Applies where an account other than a Fixed Term Deposit has not
been activated by the customer for over a year. Where Bank First
holds current address details written notification is given at least 30
days prior to the initial deduction of the fee

i have not applied yet found this on their T&Cs

    • After 12 months of not making a transaction, $20 per year will be charged. Other banks do this, too.

    • +1

just close it after getting your $100 if you dont plan on using it again or setup a quarterly 1 cent transfer between the bonus saver to avoid it become dormant.

  • "$50 credit will be applied to your account within 1 calendar month of receipt of your first deposit"
So does it get paid in 1 month or after the 3 months is up?

    • It appears it is after the first month.

  • I would like to add that they have a bonus saver account offering 2.85% I thought it was introductory but the rate lasts as long as this deal which is the end of June.

    • I can only see 2.25 % p.a. bonus interest rate1 ($0 - $149,999). Has it changed or is there another account. Would open if it was 2.85. Thanks.

I have had $100 + $50 cashback received as of yesterday as a student account 😊 thanks OP!

    • +1

The $50 from the opening of a savings account?

      • +2

$100 for spending $300 using the debit card, and $50 for saving $300 into the savings account yes

        • Neat! Thanks for confirmation

  • My first deposit is over 30 days and still not received a payout. I am about to phone them. Did anyone get their 50 for a non-student account ?

    • You have to do a deposit each fortnight. I have my $50 for this part of the deal.

      • Must it be from an employer or would any regular bank transfers do?

        • +1

I just transferred from my account at another bank.

          • @Ms Bargainer: what's this deposit bonus?

            • @CVonC: $250 Salary bonus?

            • @CVonC: $50 reward

              • @Ms Bargainer: so just to clarify it didn't have to be from your employer but just any other external account? as long as you do it every fortnight? for how many fortnights?

                • +1

@CVonC: That's correct. After my second fortnight, the $50 appeared.

                  • @Ms Bargainer: Strange - this didn't work for me.

                    • @padman: Hasn't worked for me either. I'm three fortnights in, no $50 yet

                      • @bighorse: Same. Three fortnights. Maybe they wised up.

                        • @padman: Still nothing after four fortnights. Anyone called them yet?

                          • @bighorse: I'll call them tomorrow. Haven't got anything, not even the $50 for spending $300 (spent in March).

                            • @padman: wondering how did you go? as i might need to call as well

                              • @fujay: I set up an account for both my self and my significant other. I sent the $250 from a joint CBA account to each of our Bankfirst accounts. My significant other’s account quickly received the $50 bonus after the second deposit. I was still waiting on mine.

Figured that maybe it didn’t like that the sending account CBA had that I sent it (my name was the sender). I sent it from MSO’s CBA login and that worked. This was a joint account with both our names. CBA shows the sender (individual). Bankfirst does not seem to like that for in meeting the condition of the promo.

TL:DR send the $250 from an account that doesn’t have show your name as the sender.

                                • @GoldenDragon888: Thanks for the tip, will try that.
I got paid monthly, so won't be getting the promo even if change payroll details.

  • Is it straightforward opening and closing online? Or is there a branch, id document submission needed?

    • I signed up online last night, received a text and email this morning with my new account details. Crazy fast! The only ID I provided online was my drivers licence. It came up with a section for verification saying to have your ID such as licence, medicare etc etc ready, and I clicked to go to the next page ready to enter all my details, and it just said thanks for your application. I thought I had pressed the wrong button or something but then this morning the account was already open. Very easy! Now I'm just hoping the cashback is as easy as that

In saying that, hopefully I don't need to visit a branch or provide further ID if I want to withdraw my funds… we'll wait and see.

  • has anyone got $50 for spending $300 by mar 12th

    • Yes

    • I completed my $300 spend by 4 February and they said I would receive the $50 by the end of this month.

    • Mine is in now.

    • +1

      Mine is in

  • I completed the $300 spend on the 4th April and received the $50 cashback today, so just over 7 weeks. Never received the other $50 from the salary deposit though. I gave up after 4 fortnights

    • Was it your actual salary or just a transfer from another bank (with account in your name)?

      • Another of my own accounts, purely because someone posted earlier that it worked for them. Once I realised the bank had obviously picked up on it I decided to give up lol

  • +1

Got my $100 now time to close the account. Thankfully Bankfirst provided a reply paid envelope with the welcome pack.

  • Has anybody else closed their account yet? I tried today, but had to fill in a form and email it back, as they need your signature to close accounts, even though I never used it to open the accounts. Now I have to wait, while they process it.
