  • is this a good TV compared to the previous sony and hisense deals?

im after a indidivudally backlit LED LCD tv. dont care for OLED to watch paw patrol on

    • Local Dimming?

      UHD Dimming
Enjoy colour, sharpness and contrast levels optimised for your viewing. UHD Dimming divides and processes the screen into small blocks to help you see the more precise details.

      • so that desription means it dimms individual zones

how about individual pixels…or did i just describe oled

        • Only OLED can dim individual pixels.

This Samsung tv is edge lit, so the back light will radiate from the edge and reflect through to numerous zones.

You can get full array led backlit LCD which has more localised dimming than edge lit, but it's not individual pixel like OLED and will have some bleed into areas surrounding a lot area

          • @DangerNoodle: how about the NU8000? no word on its ethernet speed either 100mbit or 1000?

            • @furythree: Specs sheet doesn't really say but I would asse gigabit is standard. Quite impressed that the 8000 series has d freesync support with decent input lag.

              • @DangerNoodle: some comment i read said a guy bought a 4k 2017 samsung model and it only had 100mbit

                • @furythree: Check with the guy to see how he tested it. For Ethernet speeds, factors like the cat rating of the cable, the length of cable, their modem/router, etc all play into the speed.

Although it is hard to say without the specs sheet saying. I've never really tested the Ethernet speed on my of oled55b6 since I've always used my NVIDIA shield wired.

                  • @DangerNoodle: they couldnt find advertised speeds until they got the manual

then confirmed via streaming some videos from plex and checking the transmission bitrate vs the source bitrate of the video

  • OP - Did you happen to see the Costco price for the NU8000 75er? Any good?

    • fyi its 4189 at bing lee with $500 cashback

      is it 2x better?

    • 82'NU8000 $5349 - $500 redemption
      Didn't check the 75

  • Wow, this is the cheapest ive seen. $2050 after cashback!
Last i saw NU8000 75"at costco was $3509. Wonder if price on that dropped too.

    • this or the smaller 65" NU8000 for the same price?

Is this using the BS "QLED" technology?

      • I wouldn't call QLED BS. I'm an LG guy but quantum dot makes the colours far more vibrant.

        • fake Oled then

  • Holy crap, I paid $3k for this at eofy down from $3.5k and I thought that was a good deal.

Anyone who can get on this deal I can highly recommend.

    • I was upset that I missed the Sony 65 inch OLED at $2999 earlier this month.. Should I wait for OLED deal, or go ahead with this?

      • I'm no TV aficionado, but I'd go with an OLED simply because they are breathtaking.

If you're not fussed and want a bigger size, you can't go wrong with this one. But if you're not in a rush, wait a year or two and see where OLED goes (hopefully deals like this will be common with OLED, one day..)

        • Sat here watching the 65 OLED from that deal right now. I’m not blown away… It’s dim. Even set to ‘vivid’ Netflix flicked to ‘Dolby Vision’ and it was dark. It’s annoying, LED is brighter.

Sometimes I notice something that’s great… but I upgraded from a 55 Samsung 7100 model from 6 years ago (migrated to the bedroom) and there a difference, just not a ‘blown away’ difference…

  • Would it fit in a back of a triton ute?

    • Yes I bought a 75 (not this one) home in a navara d40 just don't lie it down

  • Does any know if JB Hi-Price will price match?
