  • Sooo tempting with Doom VR release

  • +3

This is such a good price! Makes it only about $150 more than Oculus Rift and with no lawsuit hanging over it's head.

    • +6

      Or Facebook account :D

      • +1

You don't need a Facebook account.

    • +6

Or the fact the vive don't have "exclusive" titles like oculus do. Don't support shitty business practices

    • Did you factor in the cost of an extra sensor for full room scale?

  • +1

Nooooo why you do this…. Whyyy

  • +1

Good deal, waiting for the wireless kit to come out then I might blow the dust off it.

    • Hi @rudigger7,
Do you think there will be a wireless add-on module for the existing headsets? Very hard to resist this price if that's the case.

      • +1

Yeah it is, its already released on the chinese market.

  • christ, why couldn't this have popped up in 2 weeks?!

      • +10

        Christ, settle down.

        • -4

oh god. when will you guys learn!

        • @Gimli: God damn it, bamboozled again

      • Christ isn't a name. It's a title.

        xoxo

Must … wait … new … headsets … better … but Fallout VR … SHIT!

  • I have a thinkpad e570p, can I run VR on this laptop?

    • Not, great. It is basically minimum spec. It's up to you whether spending a grand on something you could only just run is worth it.

  • +3

go on OP, drop it to $999

  • +4

That is an insane deal. I bought mine for $1400 last year! The minimum play space is 1.5m x 1.5m but 2x2 is a much better experience because of the extra play space. I used to play on it often when I first got it but the hype kind of dies down over time. I get home from work/uni and it's so much easier to fire up overwatch or PUBG than clear out the play space and set everything up. All that aside, it's a great piece of technology and very fun to introduce VR to friends/family.

What version is this? If your buying make sure it has a sticker on the front bottom of the box saying VR capable pc needed. This us the one with the lighter hmd that brings it to the same weight as the rift!

  • Do all vive headsets come with the controllers?

    • +1

This one includes controllers, I've updated the OP:

What's Included? - Vive headset, two wireless controllers, two base stations, link box, earbuds, Vive accessories, safety guide and warranty card.

Gabe Newell has confirmed a new version of the Vive- codenamed VIVE 2- OASIS is currently in early development. VIVE 2 will feature smaller more efficient lighthouses, new controllers, specialized display technology and a smaller and lighter wireless headset.[14]

Waiting on those controllers plus some actual games from valve over tech demos. Oh and the GPU market to catch up to the demand and the recent mining undersupply to blow over.

    • What is mining isn't a bubble? What if they just soak up every GPU for the next few years?

    • The games are far from tec demo's.

Additionally, the new controllers will work with the old hardware.
