Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege 50% off - PS4 $24.95, PC $29.97, XB1 $35.85

160

To coincide with the free access weekend, Rainbow 6 Siege is discounted off the full RRP on all systems. Oddly XBOX 1 and more so PC are more expensive than PS4.
As per the free weekend comments, this is well populated game, with a strong community.

PS4 Standard Edition $24.95, normally $59.95
PS4 Year 2 Gold Edition $69.95, normally $99.95
PS4 Complete Edition Complete Edition $99.95, normally $129.95

PC Standard Edition $29.97, normally $59.85
PC Year 2 Gold Edition $69.96, normally $99.95
PC Complete Edition Complete Edition $101.36, normally $129.45

XB1 Standard Edition $35.85, normally $71.70
XB1 Year 2 Gold Edition $69.97, normally $99.95
XB1 Complete Edition Complete Edition $86.73, normally $129.45

All DLC is free, new Operators can be unlocked with the in game currency called Renown, which is earned through normal game play. The community is NOT split by DLC. New Operators released in DLC are 25,000 renown compared to your first one which is 500 renown.
However, you can by the VIP Season pass and get extras, I have purchased both season passes as payback to Ubisoft for great game and thanks for not splitting community.

    Absolute bargain for $25, and that includes all future and existing content.

    • Any reason to pay more for the Gold or Complete editions?

        I just updated the OP to explain the differences.

          Thanks. Sounds like a pretty good DLC system - aren't really missing much by buying the $25 edition.

          I'm impressed the game is being so heavily supported for at least another year, after being released over 12 months ago. Might have to pick it up!

        • @railspider:

          It really is a good dlc program. You basically get the dlc for free by actively playing the game and providing a community.

          That said, I know many people who buy the dlc and custom skins just to further support this game, it is well loved among the core.

          @ozbjunkie:

          it costs 25,000 renown for the DLC characters. others cost in increments of 500, up to 2000 renown.

          this is not a good system. 25,000 is a stupid amount to make them cost

        • +1

          @XCOM v2:

          Bullshit, it's a great system, and a fair amount for each.

          If I play for a few hours with friends, I can make at least 2,000 renown. Conversely, over the course of the year, there are 8 new Operators at 25k each. 8 x 25k = 200,000 renown.

          Divide that over a whole year, 200,000 ÷ 365 = 548 renown each day to easily unlock each operator over the course of the year. That's the equivalent of your team winning two matches each day (30 minutes all up).

          On top of the fact that every 7 days there's a list of optional in-game challenges to reward you hundreds of extra renown, and you have a system which allows you to EASILY unlock each new operator as they come out.

          Don't act like you know what you're talking about X-COM. I've played since release on and off and easily afforded each operator as they've came out while spending tens of thousands on skins and customisation.

          @OfTheOverflow:

          Clearly a man without responsibilities. Your argument is based on someone playing this game, every day, for a year.

          Look to Titanfall 2 for how DLC should be handled.

          Edit: those jumping in now, this system is terrible. Yeah sure if you played when the game came out it may seem manageable

        • @XCOM v2:

          With all your responsibilities, surely you can afford yourself the season pass?

          Pretty funny that you're whinging about being too busy to play the game enough to unlock the dlc characters, which are not behind a paywall.

          Pay, don't pay and just play, or don't play at all.

          We certainly won't miss your bitching.

          @ozbjunkie:

          nice try of dodging the argument.

          the system is bad and completely encourages spending the money for the season pass.

          My comments have always pertained to the DLC program, not whether you play or not. Try and stay on topic.

    This is also part of JB Hifi's 2 for $40 deal

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/games-consoles/games/2-for-40-game…

    Good for those who want to jump on board with a mate, or those who prefer discs for collection / resale

    • Good for those who want to jump on board with a mate

      Don’t know how XBOX works, but on PS4, if one person buys it digitally, then it they can play it on two systems, so you and a friend/family member can share the costs over two consoles.

    • Yea got it the other day once I knew the free weekend was coming around. 2 for $40 deal from JB HiFi, split the deal with a mate who wanted a different game so got it for $20!!

  • +1

    Jbhifi is selling XBOX ONE and PS4 physical copy $29.98 each, 2 for $40.

    What's the grind to unlock items like?

    Seems expensive for additional operators.

    • +1

      It is quite the grind unfortunately especially if you want to unlock some of the weapon attachments and cosmetics along the way. There is plenty of variety in the standard operators though. You can unlock them all very easily, especially if you do the 'single player' situations. Totally worth it at that price.

      Edit - I haven't played the game much in the last couple of months but if I remember correctly I was getting around 250 renown per casual match win. Please note that there are daily challenges that award renown so that will shorten the time it takes by a margin.

      • +1

        The grind is only there for the DLC operators at 25,000 renown, otherwise it's fine. If you do the single player parts first to learn the maps, you should be able to start MP with at least 6 operators fully kitted out.

    • +2

      As others said, there is only grind for dlc ops.

      At 100-200 points for a loss, and 400 or so for a win, and 15-30 minutes per match, it takes about 20 hours per dlc character (very rough approximation).

      But hey, 600 hours in and who cares. Just play and it will all come.
