Man these suckers go blunt on me fast. Gillette Proglide on the other hand seems to last forever, like at least 6 times as long. I'm doing a back-to-back comparison with Proglide and an Aldi 6-blade at the moment. The Aldi gives a good shave but clogs more easily due to tighter blade spacing (6 vs 5 on the Proglide). Too early to report on blade longevity just yet.

I have no doubt that Gillette can design how long each blade should last. There are a few tricks you can use to extend blade life. One is to keep the razor in anti-humidity balls (the little packs that come in the bottom of some foods). This stops them rusting from small amounts of retained liquid on the blade each day. Number two is to sharpen the blade on an old jeans-leg kept in the bathroom (your wife will love it). Here is a guide on how to do that: www.wikihow.com/Sharpen-Old-Razor-Blades

      • Genuine quality razor blades should not rust.

      • +4

Been using Gillette blades for years now and never had them go rusty.

        • Yeah me neither. Only low quality counterfeits would be the ones that rust.

        • +1

I believe it is referred to as micro-rust, not visible to the naked eye but it does diminish the sharpness of a new blade quickly. Removing the humidity from the storage area will prevent any micro-rust.

    • Have you tried using Razor Pit or Razormate? Your razors will last muuuuch longer!

    • Interested in how long the Gillette Mach3 last in Oxbargainer's experience.

    Good deal. Picked up 3

  • …half the comments are about them not lasting as long as store bought ones…and this product is one of the most counterfeit products around….It does say from gilette though… so maybe they are legit…

Yep. But the seller is Amazon. You have to trust that they aren't dodgy, same as Coles etc.
Whereas reviews are aggregated across all sellers. So people with bad reviews may not have purchased from Amazon.

Picked up 2, also getting the additional $5 off from the app referral, thanks OP. Also picked up a Dyson from your 600th posting - you're doing the community proud!

  • Does anyone use the disposable ones you can buy for like $3-4 and get 4-6 razors in each ?

    • +2

I tried but seriously, they are horrible. Only 2 blades so they require more passes, the heads don't swivel (or just not as well as a proper shaver).

      • Yeah very true although i feel the end result to be the same, but as you say requires more time, effort and less comfortable on the skin, for me though not to bothered lol

  • Schick Hydro is the best!

  • I saved about $1 shipping to my local Amazon Pickup Point, total was AUD$11.89

  • Thanks OP.

Has anyone tried one of these back razors?

Coming up as 15.62 AUD for me even after the coupon.

    • Me too.

      Order Summary
      Items: AUD 16.36 (US 11.65)
      Shipping & handling: AUD 7.64 (US 5.44)
      Your Coupon Savings: -AUD 8.42
      Total before tax: AUD 15.58
Estimated tax to be collected: AUD 0.00
      Order total: AUD 15.58

      Still a good deal though.

With the referral code it came to around AUD 8:50, what a bargain!

        • Forgot to use that.

        • Thanks mate! Did not use the referral code earlier. That's awesome!

        • How long did it take for email confirmation and for the $5 credit to be applied after you used the referral code on your app?

        • @Dacs: I don't recall there being any delay at all in ordering using the code so i'd say it was straight away.

  • Heck, can't even ship a box of nothing through auspost to an address down the road for that price.

  • I can't remember if I have the mach 3 shaver or the turbo version. Are the blades between the two models interchangeable?

    • +1

They take the same blades, the turbo blades have a anti friction coating and a different lubricating strip but they are interchangeable.

      • +1

        Thank you.

I've put through the order via the referral method and came with the below total. That $6 coupon probably came from a different deal (which I have forgotten about):

        Order Summary
        Item(s) Subtotal: $12.45
        Shipping & Handling: $5.44
        Amazon App Referral: -$5.00
        Your Coupon Savings: -$6.00
        Total before tax: $6.89
Estimated tax to be collected: $0.00
        Grand Total: $6.89

  • So the price is up to USD 12.45, but with referral it comes even cheaper. Yay!

  • Awesome. Not sure whether doing it in AUD was a great idea but ah well:

    Order Summary
    Items: AUD 17.48
    Shipping & handling: AUD 7.64
    Amazon App Referral: -AUD 7.02
    Your Coupon Savings: -AUD 8.42
    Total before tax: AUD 9.68
Estimated tax to be collected: AUD 0.00
    Order total: AUD 9.68

    Can't argue with that price.

  • You can use this deal in combination with other purchases to get cheaper shipping.
Paid only $1.68USD shipping for this and seagate hard drive.

  • $19.99 now. Deal expired?

  • Received mine today, I bought the 12x as it was the same price each as 10x ($12 USD vs $10 USD).

Packaging wise, it looks pretty standard. Only issue is the printed text on the back (top half) is really blurry.
