Warranty Experience for SSD from Amazon

Hi

I'm planning to buy ssd from amazon (hopefully some deal turns up in next 2 weeks). Not clear with the warranty.

For e.g sandisk or Toshiba OCZ warranty of 3 years as mentioned in amazon. Is it same applies or only 1 year international warranty?

Could some one clear who bought from amazon previously and how about RMA process in case if ssd fails.

Thanks in advance.

Edit
Got update from ocz rep saying advanced warranty program doesn't cover Australia & I need to pay for postage in case of failure. Could someone has any experience with it?

  • Hi totalgadget

If the HDD arrives DOA, they usually send you another one within the first month free and you can return the old one to them
They usually cover you for the first 30 days, after this period it would be back on the manufacturer

Ive always just gotten an RMA from the manufacturer, paid for it to be shipped to them with tracking and they have returned it back to me no issues a few weeks later

That was the OCZ process, most companies would be the same, I believe it will be a 3 year warranty, SSD companies very well know that you'd take a laptop for example overseas

Of course you should read the terms and conditions of their warranty process before making your purchase decision to find out what their policy for RMA repair is

  • Thanks shawncro

I just with ocz & they said their advanced warranty doesn't cover for Australia. They mentioned new Zealand & other Asian countries but not Australia.

Can someone say is it true. I see it is strange..

  • I purchased a 512GB Crucial MX100 SSD from Amazon almost 2years ago. Less than a year down the road, the SSD failed. All I did was contact Crucial about it. After taking several troubleshooting steps, it became clear nothing could be done to revive it. They agreed to replace it. I paid to have it posted to the US. Hope this helps.
