THings like this are going to BOOM for quiiiiite a while, thanks to PokemonGO!

    • The links no longer appear to work

  • +2

After I found a way of not buying the last one you come back with this :<

    • :)

    • Boom, look at the 20000mah :)

      • +1

That's not going to work. I've already got the 20Ah ;)

      • Damn it, I would have waited if I knew

  • What's the deal with AliExpress ratings? With Ebay, I usually don't go with any seller with worse than 99% rating. With AliExpress, is it the same, or is 98% considered a good rating?

    • +1

There's minimum requirements on here to post an AE deal, I think minimum 500 feedback @ 90% plus (off the top of my head), so use that as a benchmark :)

      • +1

Thanks for the info - I wasn't aware, but was concerned due to lack of experience with them.

Finally pulling the trigger. Got two Energizer ones (8000, 18000) missing some plugs :(

EDIT: So I don't balls-it-up (not as clear as eBay), could you please provide the link for the 20,000 model from this seller? Thanks.
        This one?

        • Sorry didn't see your edit, yeah that's the one, forgot to put it in the OP!

  • Cheers just grabbed a second 20,000mah to leave at the office…now I need a good deal on the new 10,000mah ones

  • Are you sure there is a black/blue 16000mAh Xiaomi power bank? I sent a message to confirm that it's a genuine Xiaomi power bank but waiting to hear back. It's possible they send it with the coloured silicone case, although it doesn't mention it.

    • Blue

      Colours

That said, I can't guarantee it's not a case as I haven't ordered it yet

      • The dark grey writing on the bottom of the other two linked is indicative of a fake.
This one doesn't really show the bottom well but it looks like it could be the same.

        • Pics were just taken from Google

  • Don't see a link for the 20,000

  • +1

The seller claims the silver (white?) is Original Xiaomi, but the other colours are OEM https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/182767/40777/chatali.p… I think I'll give the seller a miss.

  • Cant find Paypal option on their site? That worries me about buyer protection…

    • Ive found their protection to be better than paypal as they dont release the funds until you verify youve received the item and theres no disputes. I find sellers are very willing to fix issues quickly too.

what is the dimension of the 16,000 and the 20,000 ? afraid too big to carry.
    found the differences:

    Actually,
16000mAh is only 3.6A max output, whereas the 20000mAh has 4.8A.
16000mAh takes 9h to charge, whereas the 20000mAh takes only 7h.
    16000mAh weighs 350g, whereas the 20000mAh weighs only 338g.
16000mAh will scratch other objects more easily than the 20000mAh.
So the price is about proportional, or less value because it's performance of an older model.

Actually, they both output the same, but I'll give you the fact the 20000 quick charges for charging itself.

And nice to see you mention weight but not size
    16000 - 126 x 63 x 16.8mm
    20000 - 142 x 73 x 22mm - Bigger in every way

  • 16,000 is too big, 10,000mah is ideal but why only 1 usb outputs? romoss 6000mah has 2.

    • I'll go ask Xiaomi shall I?

      • haha no need…. thanks

  • Sorry to sound like a noob but may I ask is this a genuine power bank? I've see it retail at $69 so is this too good to be true or am I missing something here?

    • +3

Yes, they're genuine. The difference is you're not paying the Australia Tax (like you find in a B&M store), so it brings the price down considerably

Trying to negotiate a price with Mushtato currently (Sydney based company) as my Brother-in-Law wants one, but wants it faster than these HK suppliers can do :) So it comes at a price premium, but get it much faster

      • +2

        Any word from Mushtato yet?

  • Question for those who already own one of these. I want to use it as a backup battery for a dash cam, so I expect it to charge when i'm driving and run flat while i'm parked. Once it goes flat will it start charging/working once it has power going to it or will I have to press that power button each time? (Which makes it useless for hiding under the dash).

  • Waiting for Mushtato deal hopefully soon !!! Will order from them !

  • Just ordered one to use with my tablet when I travel got a Teclast T9 10000mAh from a previous deal (3months ago) that was meant to be 10000mah but can only charge my Nexus 6P 1.7time and that from about 5 to 10% when I plugged it in. Hopefully this does better

    • Decided to cancel and get the AUKEY 30000mAh

  • Has the price of teh 16000mah dropped?

  • Bump because I'm desperate for a powerbank

    • +1

Yes it has :) and US$18.19 on the app

      • +1

thanks spacker, going to get one tomottow

  • Got mine today, ended up being the 16000 mah one which was also fake.

    • Shit sorry :(

      • +1

All good, I opened a dispute. Hoping they solve this issue quickly.

    • How did you verify it was fake? Am pretty sure my 20,000 is a fake but want to make sure before I open a dispute

      • +1

For mine it was the exterior was glossy, the font color was wrong and there was no mi logo printed in the usb port. The real one is matte and the color is lighter.

        http://en.miui.com/thread-19104-1-1.html

Check out that link it shows a bit on the differences between the real and fake versions.

My dispute was approved of in 3hours, full refund and I don't have to send back the battery (I stated it was against Australian law to mail/ship counterfeit goods).

        • They're wanting mine back, but their broken english isnt giving me a lot of information as to how….they're not acknowledging the counterfeit goods just saying if I dont like their product I need to return it

        • latest reply:

          "Dear
          Or you agree with us.
And then don't send the goods
          Understand?
We help you to cancel the shipment."

I have no idea what they mean now lol

        • @Japius: well thats strange, this is what I wrote in my dispute.

"The battery that I received is not the one I ordered, in addition to this it is also a fake xiaomi battery (no verification code + other details on the battery itself such as no mi logo printed in the usb port, glossy exterior and the font is not the right colour. I would send the battery back however under Australian law it is illegal to send counterfeit items anywhere."

        • @Deebs:

Yeah I think it's a language barrier issue might just let alliexpress step in and sort it

  • Tried to verify if the 20,000 is real or counterfeit the xiaomi verify website asks for a 20 digit code but there is no 20 digit code anywhere on the product or packaging, am thinking this is counterfeit but have emailed xiaomi to confirm

    • :(

      • Am not certain just the lack of being able to verify has me suspicious for the moment xiaomi support are being difficult being more interested in where I purchased it from rather than confirming if it is real or not. Hopefully I get an answer tomorrow

Edit: I'm going with fake, can't do pass through charging, the LED's bleed through the other ports, and the text on the bottom is dark not a light grey which are all things the websites warn of. Will lodge a dispute in the morning. Oh well

        • Yeah mine didn't have the 20 digit code and the font was darker. Yours is definitely a fake.

        • @Deebs:

Just opened my dispute, write a long list of reasons then noticed their 512 character limit so now my reasons read like chinglish

        • @Japius: Good luck, my refund went through as of today.

  • Mine is a fake also. I have opened a dispute, having never used aliexpress before does anyone think refunds will happen?

    • My refund is being processed now.

      • they are being a bit difficult with me trying to get me to pay for return freight.

        • I guess I was lucky.

  • Mine arrived today and is also a fake.

I've opened a dispute. He's replied saying they want me to return it but they'll pay freight. I've declined.

I'm going to have to wait and let Ali Express step in and sort it out.

    • He kept on writing back to me trying to get me to post it back (as if!) I told him all the stuff about not wanting to post counterfeit stuff.

He hasn't agreed to a refund but he has stopped writing so I'm just going to have to wait the 7 days for Ali to step in.

Hopefully they will decide in my favour.

      • They won't consider anything in the messages so make sure you modify your dispute description to include that it is illegal to post counterfeit items etc

I am doing the same and waiting for Ali to step in, they now claim my unit is genuine and just a bad unit

  • +3

Just a note, I've had mods put a ban on this particular store. They pass the requirement for feedback ratings, but obviously they're dodgy.

    Once again, sorry :/

    • +2

no hard feelings, would have been a great deal if they were real.

  • Fake. Boo :(

    Opened a dispute just now.

    • Keep pushing for the refund only.

I told them what Deebs said above: "I would send the battery back however under Australian law it is illegal to send counterfeit items anywhere."

That seemed to work for me. Refund is now being processed.

      • How long did yours take to get him to agree to a refund?

        • About 5 or 6 messages. Total time spent probably was about 3 or 4 hours (including waiting for messages).

  • Another knockoff here :(

Anyone know of a decent alternative powerbank deal?

  • Just received mine. Obvious fake too =(

  • Still trying to get a refund even after quoting the trade marks act 1995, they now claim it is genuine and I can return it without issue…I will just wait for aliexpress to step in

    • I'm banging my head against a brick wall with this guy. Like you I'm going to have to wait for Ali Express to step in.

I've got no experience with this sort of dispute with Ali Express. I hope they are good. If they are not, it will certainly be the last time I use the site.

      • I've had disputes before and it's always gone fine, it's the first time someone hasn't just told me to destroy the goods though

        • You'll have to be careful to dispose of this one properly. Lithium Ion batteries have their risks but image the cheap Chinese rubbish they've used in these boxes. I don't want to keep mine. I just want to drop the batteries off for recycling and move on.

        • +1

          @comphelp:

Yeah I see it sitting on the bench every day and just want it gone, too many cases of them exploding

      • +2

Aliexpress just decided in my favor, refund and dont have to return the goods

        • Awesome. Mine is due to be looked at today.

  • +4

An example of my dispute discussion. After telling him I can't post batteries or counterfeit goods, he says:

    Hello.
We will arrange for our local staff to collect
    Defective product
In order to ensure your interests
    This can be?

    I say:
Yes. That's fine. Do you actually have someone in Western Australia?
    Australia is VERY LARGE country.

    He says:
    Yes, we have
Please rest assured that Xiaomi staff will go to your home to collect
So ask you to agree to the dispute
We will be in 7 working days to collect
And contact you for 48 hours after you agree to the dispute.

    I finish with this:
    I don't believe you.
Xiaomi do not have any offices anywhere in Australia.
You're just trying to trick me into agreeing to your dispute!
Besides, this is not a Xiaomi product. It is a fake! They will not be willing to collect a fake.
I will wait for Ali Express to step in and resolve the dispute.

    • I have same situation as well. The seller send me the same message. I reply with Refund with No Question Ask.

      • I'm sure they use a lot of the same replies.

        My last comment was:
This conversation is over. I'm waiting for AliExpress to step in. (Due today)

  • got mine , fake

    • worse is I have no email records of the transaction, so i'm stuck disputing it with my CC company

    • Wait did you order from AliExpress or EverBuying?

        • Yeah :/

And all 3 send invoices to your email…!

        • @Spackbace:

I need to correct my previous comments

This fake appears to be the Ali express transaction and not the everbuyinng one

  • Sigh. Read the comments, trusted Spackbace's indication it was real and now annoyed. Got 4 of them. Need to dispute this somehow.

  • mine was a fake also.

  • Has anyone had experience with AliExpress disputes. It says they are due to step in on 9th August (today).

How quick are they with these disputes?

Do they tend to rule in favour of the seller or the buyer?

    • for mine I got the email that they were stepping in at 7:30am and the email saying agreement reached (I.e the buyers status was changed to refund only instead of refund and return) at 13:40

      • Thanks. I got the email an hour ago that they are stepping in.

        • +1

Dispute settled. I got a refund.

  • has anyone tried using their fake power bank? as long as the electronic circuit outputs 5v the worst thing that can happen would be reduced capacity.

    • Yes it works. The problem for me is that it only puts out 400-600mA which is just too low.

      • I put both my HTC's on there last night (2300mA each) and the bank went down to 50% so I would be estimating it's capacity would be 7500-10000mA.

I have ordered another (hopefully genuine) one, once that gets in I will pull this apart and see what cells and circuitry is inside, if the cells are salvageable ill use them in my spare torches.

Or if anyone that plans not to recycle theirs maybe they can pull theirs apart and take photos before they dump them.

    • I always thought the worst thing that could happen is poor build quality of the fakes leading to overheating and fires? Not a scenario I want with powerbanks that I carry around..

      • Fires could happen if the batteries are shorted, which is also a possibility when there is faulty circuitry. Which is why I was considering just popping the cells out and using them for other purposes. However, as far risks are concern, the highest risk would be during the charging of it, I have put mine on charge and checked it periodically and it does not warm up at all, so I doubt it's pulling much current when charging, and as stated above by someone else I also found that my output current is quite low.

I suppose poor build quality could lead danger from shorting but because of the size of the case and the size of the cells in side there isn't much space for loose items to short out.

I'm in no way saying they are safe to use and I do not take responsibility should anyone choose to use them. However, if no body else decides to tear theirs apart by the time my other one arrives I will pull this one apart and will determine how poor quality they actually are.
