Things to Buy With a $100 One Time Shop at Coles

Hey peeps,
I recently got a new Coles credit Mastercard that comes with $100 worth of one stop shopping at Coles. Since I am single, I was thinking of getting a gift card like Visa or Mastercard prepaid card for this $100. The website says that I can't buy Coles group of card and iTunes cards but I am not sure that Visa or Mastercard prepaid is such. Is it? Any other useful suggestions?

PS: Please be nice this is my first post.

maybe buy some food you probably need to eat at some stage anyway.

  • find a friend that wants to shop

    shop with them

pay the $100 for $80 from them

buy whatever you want with the $80

  • Not sure how it works at Coles, but when I used to work at Woolies, the way prepaid Visa and Mastercards are loaded (if using a card) is by withdrawing money out of your account (similar to taking cash out) and then it's credited onto the gift card. It isn't treated the same way as if you were buying a WISH gift card. So I'm not sure if it'll work.

    • Not true for Coles. I believe that Coles treats all gift cards not part of the Coles/Myer group of stores as "3rd party", meaning that Flybuys points can be earnt. I bought $450 in Visa Gift Cards a few months back with my CBA Amex and it wasn't a cash advance.

It shouldn't be considered a cash advance because there is an activation fee on the cards.

How is the $100 credit paid?

I don't think that you can pay for the pre paid Visa cards with gift cards or other card based credits. Remember there will be an activation or purchase fee on the pre paid Visa or Mastercard.

Find a Coles which has a large range of Mix Apparel stock and do some shopping you would normally do in a department store.

Stock up on things like toilet paper and non perishable food.

  • I'm sure your freezer can fit $100 worth of meat, or whatever money is leftover after a normal shop

I'd suggest posing this question on about a dozen different forums so you get a good 'spread' of options. Then, and only then will you know what to do with this massive windfall.

      This

      Prolly still wanna get specials
Peanut butter cheap this week, tissues really cheap, Kleenex 250 jumbo pack
Toothpaste is cheap with tooth brushes
Get some smoked salmon, cheese, some meats, spegetti, and ur pretty much there

      • I second that…
If I run out of things to buy/credits to redeem, the Quilton Toilet Paper for $10 is always a reasonable buy at anytime of the year. It's not "the cheapest", but it's pretty close, providing you like Quilton.

You will eventually need them all. Haven't met anyone with no requirements for toilet paper yet.

    Two words: Bread Baron.

    1) Clear them out of bread.
    2) Start up a bread stand out the front.
    3) Add a modest mark up of 400-500%.
    4) Repeat following days until millionaire
