    and you saw this from….?

    • …the store. Apparently it wasn't advertised and will end tonight.

when did it start? I topped up $100 on Saturday at woolworth and I paid $100.

        • Not sure when it started, but it worked today, the lady at the counter couldn't even tell me when it started, but said it might end tomorrow.

  • in store only?

Does this work for all Opal card types?

  • Sounds too good to be true? Would you mind showing us your receipt?
I want to believe you OP but don't want to go to the Woolies only to find it doesn't work.

    Thank you

      Receipt uploaded.

      • wow nice deal. Beats the 15% friends and family promo opal top ups earlier this year

        • +1

Yeah, pay with 7.5% off gift cards and it's a total of 26% off.

        • sorry I should say last year! time flies…
I wish I had some of those 7.5% eGfitcards then. Would've been so much win
Won't make the same mistake again :)

        • Dang! That was quite the deal!

  • Which Woolies did you visit?

    • It says in his receipt…

    • As per the receipt, Cabramatta, NSW.

      • +4

Cabramatta is a "dark and dangerous place".

        • +6

hell yeah?plz do tell which bright corner u were from?

        • Pretty sure they did a renovation of the place. Still looks pretty dodgy and dark though.

        • @golferpat:

          its called low income…

pretty good and safe for a low income area

        • @Baghern:

          You'd be surprised.

  • Going to need some kind of advertisement or something before I make my way over to the nearest Woolies offering Opal top-ups.

  • +3

i called Bass Hill NSW and they said they aren't doing it. They tried it on the system and it said $100 for $100

    edit: maybe managers special?

Mmm contemplating catching the train from Ashfield to Cabramatta to top up.

    Yay or Nay?

    • Do it!

    • On my way! (jk)

  • Does anyone know if Woolies sells unregistered Opal cards? Can potentially work around the $250 cap and then register the card(s) after the top up is done?

    • +1

all the newsagents and convenience stores that sell the opal cards can be bough unregistered. Once you have the card, you can top up at woolworths. Nothing to stop you from getting as many cards as you want

    • Woolies do sell Opal cards, so if you want you can get a new card from the counter & load it with credits there & then.

But substantial enough for your downvote? thank you.

        • +7

          Except it wasn't mine.

  • Glitch in the matrix.

  • I tried loading $20 on my Opal card at Parramatta woolies & got no discount.

So, I'm not sure if the discount is restricted to the Cabramatta woolies, or if you need to load $100 before you get the discount.

Don't bother coming down, they have exceeded their daily opal recharge limit.

    • +1

Each woolies has a limit every day.So this is not a deal due to insufficent quantity.

      • +4

Why is there a limit per store?

  • I charged $80 at woolies sydney town hall today. No discount.

  • Exceeded? Tell them to just charge you $80 for $100 top up and your done.

  • +1

Each store has a limit of $1500-$2000 for Opal topup. (Except townhall and central in Sydney). It is a condition of NSW trains for each machine given to stores they have set a daily limit.

      how stupid

      • It limits their losses when there's a glitch!

  • +1

Someone should post the bottom of the receipt as a deal

    Free Everyday Rewards cards

    Lol

Due to this, I had to deal with a complaint about how not all stores run the same promotions (granted the Cabra store is very close to mine)…Must have been an OzBargainer.

    • Did you let them know Eneloops are on special at DSE? Might have placated them.

  • -6

Well it's woollies that are selling the product not city rail, if they want my business and others they should charge $80 regardless of city rail.
