Lucky Goldstar make a decent T.V. set?

      The best OLED's out.

Here is what they say when they compare the TVs:

It's a bit brighter overall than the A95L, which is great for those looking to get one of the brightest OLEDs on the market. It also has lower input lag, HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on all four ports, and supports up to 4k @ 144Hz, which makes it better overall for gamers. Unfortunately, it still can't compete with QD-OLEDs' sheer advantage in color vibrancy, so the A95L slightly edges it out.

So basically it is better than the A95L, except if you value "colour vibrancy" over peak brightness, and many useful gaming and future proof features. Which is what Rtings seem to do.

Apparently QD-OLED have more "burn in" issues than regular OLED but that might just be hearsay.

I think you'll find many other reviewers will rate the LG higher.

@serpserpserp: On the other hand, the Sony can display more vibrant, lifelike, and brighter colors due to its wider color gamut and better color volume, and there is less banding in most colors.

It doesn’t sound like the Sony is worth $2k more.

Mind you I’m not sure this is worth double some other very good oled tvs

          • +1

@serpserpserp: Sony has the superior image/motion processing though. What I usually tell people is that the Sony is better if you don’t game much, but if you do then get the LG. Of course, at this price, the LG is a no brainer.

            • @j1nx:

Sony has the superior image/motion processing though.

This is debatable. This was easily the case 10-15 years ago, but now the upscaling and processing is so close it is barely mentioned in reviews. Basically both TVs are very good at it.

When you stand in front of both at the store they both look amazing. I doubt on a side by side watch test you'd notice much difference and would really just be a colour "volume" preference. But then the LG just is a lot better from an all around hardware perspective. I mean when you buy a TV, if someone comes around with a PS5 or whatever you'd surely want it to be pumping out perfect visuals.

      • One of the best.

    • When I was a kid in the 2000s, I had one of the first LG LCD monitors with built in TV tuner, and my mates had never seen an LCD TV before - they used to tease me that LG was short for "Lachies Gay" lmao 💀

Thanks, I just bought 3 in case one fails outside the warranty.

    Only TCL has decent price.

    • +5

There is no TCL tv that is comparable to this one.

Comparing a TCL TV to an LG OLED TV is like comparing a Toyota Corolla to a Lamborghini Aventador. Both serve their purpose and have their own merits, but they cater to vastly different audiences with different priorities and budgets

      • Love the analogy example!

        • +1

Yeah, maybe a Toyota Corolla to a Koenigsegg might have been closer. Sorry, but some people and their comparisons are completely off the mark. Cooldog mentions "Only TCL has a decent price for what it is worth. Different people will always value different products to their wants/needs. Everyone has their own wants, disposable income, and justification for spending what they feel is appropriate for their purchase. Yes, this is OzBargain, but to say that "Only TCL has a decent price, I find somewhat pointless unless you can justify your point.

This is going to change very quickly.

LG and OLED's in general are stagnating pretty quickly, and TCL has some great sets coming out this year

I think the g3 is a no brainer over this at the moment

    • I watch my tv from 2.5 meters away on a 55". This is tempting. Would a 77" be too big?

      • +3

        Nope

      • For movies, I would say no. Personally, I find the better the peripheral vision, the better.

      • I went from 55" to 65" and it is a Hisense OLED so not great at upscaling. But Kayo is the problem for example, streaming games at 1080p not 4K. It was very blocky. I think at 2.5 meter (similar to my setup) stick to 65" with good processing. At 77" the PPI is too low.

I switched my PC monitor from Ultra wide PC and now run a 2017 iMac with 5K 27" at the best PPI and it is much better. I RDP into my PC and am not gaming for now, this setup rocks for productivity. I'm a PPI slut now. I want 8K 77" OLED, until then, I'm deciding to hold until next year.

I just can't imagine how this is worth almost double the price of our 77" C3

    • Please tell me where to buy a 77" G3 for 3 grand.

      • +4

        He said C 3

    • Does the C3 or C4 have MLA?

    • Agree

  • Is the 83" discounted at all?

    • +1

No 83’’ on TGG Commercial site

    • +1

LG online store got it down to $7,649.23. That's down from $8999 with another 15% discount. That's registered as a VIP (free) as well as an EDU email.

TGG were able to beat it at $7600. That suited me because I had a few gift cards from previous deals. I put $2k on Latitude to get a $250 gift card, and put the rest on a $4999 gift card I bought via Macquarie at 3% off.

Overall that probably brought me down to about $7000 which I was happy with.

I was debating the Bravia 9, but decided I wanted to keep OLED for now.

      • But it was on lg website for 6884

        • +1

Edit: for clarity this comment chain is talking about the 83 inch rather than the 77 inch.

That price drop was in May, and I'd originally bought late April.

That said TGG refunded the difference.

Current best deal for 83" should be $6500 or.$6300 prior to gift cards:

LG edu is about $7500, which TGG should match but TGG also have $1000 cash back for the 83", so it should get it to $6500, or $6300 with the Latitude promo (if still going). The cashback for the 77" is less good, but there should still be one.

Headed back into store today to get that extra delta. I was already planning to, but the salesperson even called to point it out.

          • @MrBlueSky: Logged into my LG Edu a/c today, G4 83" is $7,649 and $1000 cashback if TGG are willing to price match. So tempted, will sleep on it.
Thanks for the heads up the TGG cashback.

            • @BellaWii: Nw. I went back today and mine got sorted for about $6350 in the end.

Check the other thread for some more details. I think you could go harder, some people did even better than me. I didn't want to push my luck after a second time trying to price match after purchase (I haven't had it delivered, so I had some.flexibility)

  • I'm seeing $5893 + delivery
