I was looking for a new kitchen bin with dual bins, one on top of the other and the cheapest of this style came out to about $200 including shipping.

Found this on eBay to take advantage of the 22% discount code.

There are alternative versions for less money too.

    $200 for a bin? R u okay

    • Very limited space means extreme measures …

This trash bin's front-facing sensor is a bit of a pain. It keeps opening up when you're just walking by or standing nearby. They really should've put the sensor on top so you could just wave your hand to open it when you actually need to.

    • You're 100% right, it arrived this morning and my patience has already run out with the lid constantly opening and closing.

Also it sucks that there aren't actual buckets that the garbage bags sit in, they're just suspended in mid-air by the ring around the top.

      Serious regrets …

      • Wait until you break the lid lol

    Can't do 3 pointers.

Lid is flimsy. Mine broke within a year. Was a good size but now I use the lid manually

    • This product comes with a 1 Years Manufacturer's Warranty.

Yeah those warranties are useless for large items like this where there's no physical store to return it to. Posting back the bin would cost you at least $30 and have a high risk of rejection when they claim it was damaged due to user error. Mine had the hinge snap after it got stuck and I tried to manually force it closed. Tried super glue but was such a poor design it wasn't going to be fixed.

        • use 2 part epoxy, superglue usually arent strong enough whereas epoxy for the most part is. Or if the plastic is thick and wide enough use plastic welding with thin metal wires.

  • any long lasting foot pedal manual bin recommendation?

Vote against this product, bad quality, bad design for the price.

I've ended up with a 2nd hand Brabantia after dealing enough with rubbish rubbish bins.

  • Almost $200 for a rubbish bin.

In trying to talk myself out of it, a friend sent me this alternative option …
      https://www.simplehuman.com.au/products/rectangular-sensor-c…

      • I ended up buying from Costco https://www.simplehuman.com.au/products/semi-round-sensor-ca… to replace mine.
Mostly because the warranty was better. I'm still somewhat nervous it'll break one day, but hopefully if it does then I can repair it because the build quality is definitely better

        • I repaired my friend's one yesterday, amazing manufacturing shortcuts and engineering / design flaws for such an expensive item. The pins that act as the "axle" for the lid to hinge on just clean snapped in half!!

      • Simplehuman, whilst ridiculously expensive, actually has post-sales support and the ability to fix items with parts.
