What to do with current tv?

    • +2

That thought stopped me from upgrading my tv for 8 years. We have a great 55 inch sony TV which i love and could not just give it away.tvs usually dont have good re-sell value so either move it to kids room or just post it on marketplace

      • Put it in your room

        • +2

Dont want tv to interfere with bedroom activities

          • +1

@U30004: interfere? I'd say it enhances if used correctly

      • I'm in the same boat with my 55" Oled that I got about eight-ish years ago too.

I wouldn't consider this as my personal replacement though, deals on the latest C and G OLED LG models with an extra 10" is more what I'd be after.

    • +4

just put it up for free on FB marketplace
you are going to enjoy the new TV and someone hopefully that really needs it gets a nice used TV

        • Hmm I was thinking what I’d do with my old plasma. It may be 60” and perfectly fine but it is 12 years old and with TV prices so cheap today - it’s a bit crazy to expect someone to pay for it

          • @ChatCPT: You could stick it under your floor for a nice heated floor arrangement if you left it on 24/7

      • -5

        In this economy??

      • +1

I litteraly just jagged a 55 inch samsung recently movijg into new place… Was stoked…

Yeh its old but beats the 32" bedroom TV 😂

    • +5

I turned it into a spa TV.

Had to buy a spa, so hefty investment

  • +7

Donate it to people who needs it or call council for pick up.

  • How does this compare with a c3 evo? Is c3 evo one of the best tv on the market now?

    • +7

Mate they are in different leagues :)

      • A friend asked me what is a good tv so I said the C3 Evo because it seems popular here, but I dont know much about televisions or how it compares with others.

        • +2

Dongie was right about them being in different leagues. The C3 uses an updated OLED panel I believe.

Deep blacks and because the diodes are lit individually, there's no colour spread from the surrounding pixels.

I've still got mine from 5+ years ago.

          • @Beyond: Blooming annoys the fecal matter out of me in dark scenes

    • -1

      They are so similar

  • +4

Silly $196 delivery kills it for me. Good guys can deliver a washing machine to me for $55.

  • Free delivery in metro vic, nice. Thanks OP!

  • Good deal but if I'm going to upgrade I think I need 85". Hoping for an 85" deal

  • -1

Can I use this to heat my room ?

    • +8

You’re looking for a plasma tv

      • Wow, I remember those nice warm winter nights with my 50" Panasonic.

      • Tuned to the fireplace Livestream.

    • +1

Should be big enough as a blanket

  • Anyone tried showing this to TGG and see if they are willing to clear the runout stock for $995?
2024 model is out so this is a runout model

  • +4

    60Hz refresh rate

    • They all are at this price point.

    • How would this effect the watching experience? Is this only applicable if using as a gaming monitor?

      • +1

60hz is fine in my opinion. Also limited to what the attached device is too.

      • It won't, but some people want higher for current consoles. Can't imagine using one for a a monitor though.

So no. No watchable content is over 60hz

  • How does this compare with the TCL C845?

    • +4

      It doesnt

    • +1

No where near. Just hung the 75 for 1407 for the kids room, looks great for that price. Was V2 also.

      • +3

So which is better, this LG or TCL C845?

        • -5

They prob on par in terms of picture. Not gona notice much diff. TCL with google tv inbuilt probably better option than LG with whatever software it runs not sure

        • +2

          The TCL is significantly better.

        • Get the TCL prob worth the extra $$ LG prob better build quality but Midas get the better tech

    • -3

Prob in the same league in terms of picture. Look at QLed or Oled but of course ur paying more for the higher the tech ladder u climb

      • +4

How are they in the same league? C845 is mini led with FALD and 120hz, this is bare bottom panels from LG. Most likely just a bog standard ips panel.

        • Nah fair point. Just Duno about TCL durability. Looks a cheap Chinese sorta brand/build. I guess most r these days

    • So similar.

  • +2

No HDMI 2.1. If it had, I would have snapped one up.

    • Why do you need this? Genuinely curious from a tv noob

      • +5

In short it's all about bandwidth and potential quality of image for compatible devices, like the PS5
        This explains it nicely: https://www.t3.com/features/hdmi-2-1-explained

        • +2

So if not gaming 2.0 still ok ?

          • @georgev: It might be important for longevity of the TV.

      • As Deepwater said, it's purely about Xbox/PS5 gaming at 120Hz/4K.

    • But this is max 4k 60Hz panel, so 2.0 is fine including 4:4:4 and HDR?

  • Hi all, does anyone know how the reflections are on this tv screen? We need it for our lounge room which gets a lot of light from windows etc.

  • +6

TGG has the price beat set at $1188. Not quite $995. I've submitted an enquiry to see if they'll match. Will report back.

    • Do they count the gift card? Seems generous if so

      • That's why I don't hold out much hope. But hey, if Betta has that price listed on the website, it's fair game. Especially when they phrase it like it's $995 with visa card as if you're gonna use it as a payment method for the tv.

Ordered early this morning from this post and they confirmed order, just got an email now saying they don’t have enough stock and will return funds to my account. Very useless especially given it’s still being advertised online.

    • This is the response I got

      https://ibb.co/xq6TjJD

Surely when I put my post code in it would have stopped a sale at that point. Also the start of their response makes it seem as though there was back and forth emails, that was the first communication since order confirmed. Also “safe shipping distance” more like economical shipping distance….

And now they have pillaged all my details!

      • where about you ?? still showing free pick up from nearby sub , but it is too big to fit into my car .

        • Abbotsford, Melbourne (near CBD). Will let you buy the product with free shipping but then hours later order gets cancelled.

          • @Gamblor999: Thanks, Still think if I should put the order in or Not . I used to have a LG which is not so good for watching , but for this price point , I don't think that Sony low end TV will match .

Do you check out this model in store ???

    • Got called today saying there is no stock.
They have a useless website if they can't even show actual stock levels.

  • Got my order cancelled as well from Brooklyn Melbourne. Out of stock model.

  • Ordered from Seaford, SA store. Received call from Betta saying they're getting it transferred to them from the Victor Harbor store and can pick up from Friday.

    • for 75", how you pick it up ??

      • Haven't thought that far ahead lol. Nah, I'll probably borrow my brother's ute, drop the sides and strap it down
