Phillips Hue Downlights and Outdoor Lights

Hi,

I have recently bought my first home and going through renovations. I am looking at buying 11x Phillips Hue Akari downlights and 13 outdoor lights (haven't decided the model for outdoor lights). What's my best option for buying philips hue at discount?

Thanks

    Another home loan.

Probably waiting till Black Friday to see if there's any discounts really. Philips Hue isn't considered the cheap option.

There were rumours of a potential Prime Day in October as well I think. Might get lucky there too.

Create an Amazon wishlist and just wait for a long time.

Even when their Akari and outdoor range have been discounted in the past, it has never been by a significant amount.

You just gotta pay up for Philips Hue.

  • You can get Garnea/Akari in a 4-pack for $200/360 from Amazon. I prefer the narrower beam angle (and lower price) of Hue GU10 spots.

  • I recently decked the house out with Hue downlights and chose Garnea over Akari.

You have to ask yourself how often you want to walk around inside a purple house. For me the answer was not very often, so I saved a lot of money by buying Garnea.

You can still have coloured accent lights in floor/table lamps, or light strips as a compromise.

    My 2c.

    • Yeah, you really only need Akari for your entertainment area, but even then I seldom use the colours. I don't yet have a Hue Sync box cos the prices are insane, I might use the colours more once I have a Sync box at a bargain price.

  • Keep an eye on www.grays.com , they auction off retail returns from the likes of Amazon

  • Bought over 90+ hue devices
    Mostly Amazon black friday
And jbhifi discount cards when on sale

  • Search Amazon Warehouse regularly. Very regularly if you want that many :)

  • Have a look at Mercator Ikuu zigbee range. Cheaper and should work well with Home Assistant.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I managed to use Price Hipster to find the cheapest store for the downlights and then asked JB for the best price they could do. And then paid it off using 10% off discounted JB gc's. Paid $70 for each Akari downlight.

    • Have fun setting them all up :)
