Mearth RS PRO Vs Segway Ninebot MAX G2, Support and Reliability?

I’ve been looking at maybe buying a Mearth RS PRO or a Segway Ninebot MAX G2, I actually like the Mearth better on paper but they both seem great. I watched a bunch of reviews.

My only concern is reliability and support. I live in a regional area and the idea of shipping a big heavy scooter back every time it needs something done, does not appeal.

Any recommendations on the scooters or ideas to solve the support dilemma? For example, I hear changing tyres on some of these can be a hassle.

The Segway with dual-suspension, on-board charger and self-healing tyres makes it a clear winner in my eyes.

    • Good points, especially the charger and tyres 🤔

      Thanks!

I haven't had good experiences with my Mearth e-scooter (different model) or their after-sales support

I have an RS Pro 2023 and I really like it although the claimed 80-100km range is an absolute joke, i'm getting about 30km id guess out of a full charge, its hard to know becuase there's no odometer

I unrestricted it so it can do 40 but i found it too light and wheels too small to do that speed, i put it back to max 25 and it goes well there. Doing full speed also eats the battery alive, im getting much better range by restricting it to 25, the cruise control feature is handy too.

Overall very happy with it, had it for a few months and no issues, only maintenance other than charging the battery is occasionally hitting the pads and rotors with some brake cleaner spray as they get a bit squeaky from the dust/road grime. I'm also wary that the brake rotors are very thin and would be easily damaged so I'm careful with it.

    • Thanks for the review!

Do you plan to do all maintenance yourself? Have you checked out how hard it is to change brake pads and tyres etc?

Mine is only a couple of months old so I haven't needed to replace anything yet. I'll cross that bridge when i come to it. Restricting it to 25 is really turning out to be night and day in terms of battery consumption. I've just bought a GPS odometer that I'll be mounting on the handlebar so that will give me an indication of the distances I'm getting out of each charge, im pretty sure the scooter could provide this information itself, its a shame that it doesn't.

One thing I dont like looking at that Segway is that it only has one brake lever, I much prefer having the two levers operating the front & back brakes separately just like a bicycle.
